yeah. that’s what i meant. mybads. i’m standing and sometimes i miss my b+mp. i was hoping that sliding would be another option besides the b+mp for crossups.
what’s a good move to punish a blocked or whiffed drill of cammy? i tried multiple things but none of them seem to be guaranteed.
Edit - deleted. I’m blind - I just saw the video thread
Probably should just block it, jump back and fierce, or IAT on reaction. She may be able to poke you a lot with standard attacks, but I’ve noticed a lot of Cammy’s special moves leave her open for a grab or super/ultra if you block them correctly. Just look out if she mix’s up with block-strings and pokes.
cool. thanks man. most of the cammy’s usually do their dp kick move after the drill kick. makes it seem like it has zero recovery. i can grab the FK and EX variations after i block them but sometimes they still could get that dp kick off.
Yoga Inferno punishes all blocked Drill Kicks. The further away the Cammy player does the Drill Kick the safer it becomes. If you block it close, you can do cr.MK or b+MK -> Yoga Flame.
Also, use the Yoga Tower. It evades:
- Drill Kicks
- Spin Knuckles
- Hooligan Throws
and once those moves whiff, go for a back throw.
All Spiral Arrows are punishable by HK slide.
Sorry for my noob question.

But when is the best for using FA with Dhalsim? I play with dhalsim alot but im using FA like 1 times every 20 matchs…

What the best to do against opponent doing FA on wakeup when u are on corner? I tried slide and grap, jump up, teleport, but not very successful. Any idea?
Thanks
whats your guys take on a meter full rog? I feel like at the start of the round is ex punches keep me honest alot. I try to zone but one long range ex punch beating a FB or FP makes things bad for me. Should I be reacting and teleporting and being selective with my moves? Thoughts would be great
Have a fire ball out when you’re poking Balrog with fierce punches or medium punches. If you can successfully get both to hit, you can stop his EX punches. Some of his turn punches avoid fireballs so you might wanna be careful about that. Starting off a match, you’re better off just blocking or moving back because his headbutt can easily hit your limbs at the start of a match and headbutts hurt a lot. If you’re within range of using medium punches or any of his other medium limb attacks, use those more since they’re more spammable and more likely to stop an EX attack when used with yoga fire.
Same thing when Balrogs getting up, headbutt beats any attack you can throw at him including catastrophe or inferno (or aerial fierce punches), but you can punish it if you block it with something like a throw to keep your distance or Yoga inferno. It’s got a lot more range than you think it would and can even hit you if you’re just standing a few feet away from him. Don’t throw out aerial fierces too much either cause headbutt has higher priority. Check and see whenever Balrog is ducking or not cause that’ll give you a sign that he’s going to headbutt you. You can bait out a lot of attacks and avoid them with air-teleport if you’re quick enough, but it’s risky and usually not worth doing until his health is low.
Focus attack for Dhalsim is good for the surprise element. Unfortunately, you really can’t combo with his FA very well unless you’re right next to them (which you may be able to get a free super or ultra). I find it useful for baiting attacks like shoryukens when they’re getting up so then you can just Focus attack canceling away from them and punish.
If they’re close to you, grab them immediately before they hit you with it. Other options would be to use yoga inferno or Yoga catastrophe so that they can’t hit you while you’re crumbling and they’ll instead take damage as well. Instant air teleporting behind them or jumping can work too, most Focus attacks are slideable if you time it correctly.
thanks i will try it.
good shit man, i needed that advice
When someone cross up me, should i do the reverse EX yoga blast or the normal one?
If i want teleport away when someone cross up me which one is the best teleport? Reverse Teleport 3P/K or Normal 3P/3K?
Sorry for all those question but im still in training with dhalsim and i got so much trouble against people crossup/tick throw/rush-poke.
thanks in advance.
I think just block during a cross up, none of his special moves has invincibility except Teleport. So unless you can reversal Teleport (can someone explain the timing for this cos I cant do it) just block. To teleport away, I think you have to do the motoin away from the opponent.
You guys ever noticed how Dhalism wheres a diaper?
Cross ups are usually done while you’re still getting up. By the time they get down on you and start attacking you, you probably won’t have the time to IAT away if they’re good and with light jabs, you’re going to get hit at the beginning or ending frames of the move. Use your own judgment for that. Usually when they’re jumping over you (or crossing you up), they’ll be facing the direction you are after landing, you can IAT as if you wanted to teleport behind them as if they were on the other side of the screen and it’ll put you behind them.
I don’t find teleporting viable when you’re in the corner so you’re better off just blocking in that situation (either direction you teleport, you’ll end up close to him and in poking range).
Oh so teleport is based on the direction youre facing? Cool. Still, if Teleporting has invincibility frames, wouldnt that be an excellent reversal to get out of those situations (except in the corner, as you said).
All teleports, and the Yoga Teleport is no exception, have a lot of recovery to them as soon as you re-appear. So, if you get predictable with it, your opponents can stay on top of you making you defend again (because, remember, you are at a disadvantage frame-wise) or, worse, you can even get punished for being careless.
Slides can be used to escape certain cross ups, too. Do not try them against Zangief, though. The hitbox on those Body Splashes seems to be too big to slide underneath them consistantly.
The best option is to block, and be ready to escape throws. If you find an opening, you can do cr.MP -> b+LK (legitimate link) into MK slide, and then keep your opponent out with b+MKs. Just be very careful because, as you probably already know, Dhalsim is pathetic up close because he cannot link more than two regular moves. Most japanese Dhalsim players just do cr.MP -> b+LK -> b+MK and then wait.
thanks guys.
I didnt know cr.mp can like with b.lk very useful.
I’ve been having issues against a few chun players I run into a lot online. They turtle the shit out of me. If I get sneaky and try to throw in a random AIT they jump straight up and combo the shit of me. If I try to back them into the corner they become very agressive and I lose the close range battle even if it’s only a little damage. Then they create space with the EX spinning bird kick or whatever and reset… So sick of the EX legs also heh.
ugh… is chun a horrible matchup or am I missing something?
Chun-li does fairly well against Dhalsim. If timed right, they may be able to beat your B. RH. You really don’t wanna do an IAT without having a fire ball out or something (maybe an EX yoga fire if she’s shooting out fireballs too). You don’t wanna be close range against Chun-Li. You want to get her into a corner, but stay very far away from her as well and poke her. Like all matches, never get cornered.
She does have some really good combo’s when pressuring you against a corner. Also look out for her ultra cause it actually can hit you even if you’re on the opposite side of the screen as he and it passes through yoga fires. They have the advantage if you’re knocked down cause they can cross you up easily and there’s nothing you can do getting up other than block the right way and find an opportunity to get away. Pull off some tricks with the ultra and yoga inferno, but avoid teleporting behind her too much because it becomes obvious (I’d say once or twice in one round) since she has a lot of options to shutting that down, and focus dealing damage with all of your long range pokes (know how his MP, MK work and also use MP in the air as an anti-air if you’re far away enough). It’s a pretty tough match up so you just have to predict/set up well and know what you can and can’t do.
