Fixed! Work on it, man.
If you know the distance then why not?
He travel’s maybe half the screen, but he’ll run out of invincibility sometime in between. With correct spacing you can still throw fireballs.
Im pretty sure from a full screen distance (possibly a bit less) you can still throw out a Fire and recover in time to block and punish. But from about 3/4 I dont think its safe, and theres not a lot of distance in 1/4 of the screen so might as well stick to full length or not throw any at all, just bait him out and punish with limbs till he dies.
Did some testing with Abel’s Ultra and it looks like he has upper body invincibility until he hits( need confirmation)
I was Round house sliding him out of it everytime.
I tried a few attacks and you shouldn’t be discouraged if he has Ultra. You can recover from most of your long range limb attacks in time to block an incoming Ultra.
Doing instant over head Jump Fierce is probably out of the question, he can Ultra that for free.
So yeah just keep in mind that he can Ultra through some of your shit. Just keep in mind that you gotta be a little bit more safe when he has it, but don’t get gun shy cause he does.
Abel’s Ultra isn’t that hard to avoid. He does have some invincibility in it, but he can still be hit during it and doesn’t have the best priority (it doesn’t go through Zangiefs Lariat). If you’re midrange or next to him, just be sure you aren’t doing any special moves or in the middle of a fierce attack when he uses it. And if you’re about to land and you have no chance of blocking it, you may have time to teleport still and avoid the attack. I avoided Akuma’s Ultra/Super that way narrowly.
I wouldnt risk fireballing when abel has ultra like…ever. even if hes out of range its not that hard for him to get into range.
Jester: about EX Blast vs iper, I Would use that sparingly, because well, she can control the arc of her jump and the angle that she lands at to make you whiff and fuck you up…kinda like how Fuerte can do. I don’t have a set gameplan for this match either since I havent played any competent C. Viper players in the US and my memory is really foggy since playign good viper players in japan last summer =/
Light yoga flame. If the medium kick lands the death blow you can connect with a Light Yoga Blast.
Btw, thought I’d throw this out… Instant Teleport, B+Fierce, DB+MK into Light Yoga Flame is WAY WAY WAY easier to pull off than the B+MK. Never see anyone use this.
Im gonna try that DB mk–>L flame of yours:)
I hit Able out of his ultra with a focus attack about 3 out of 4 times, hear them curse all that is holy when you do it:rofl:
I tried DB.MK xx Flame, it does less damage than B.MK xx flame and I found it harder to do.
I got MK. Slide a few times, so I don’t know.
I personally don’t think it’s worth it, especially if you can land B.MK xx flame consistently.
I do think it might be useful as a decent mixup after a blocked Teleport cross up attempt.
I find it way easier to do… Well, at least if you’re using a square gate. I just start the yoga flame command, and then when you hit the corner press MK and follow through to finish the yoga flame. I only hit the B+MK about 50% of the time if that. The DB+MK is near 100% for me.
As an abel player I can say that the ultra will hit from full screen if you’re still in your recovery/startup frames from your projectile. No smart abel is gonna ultra through a fireball from dhalsim when you’ve already recovered? I’ve yet to play a dhalsim outside of mirror matches though. I just know I’ve been absolutely full screen with every fireball character I’ve fought against and landed an ultra through their fireball.
Anyway. I can’t beat dictator/bison. Any tips? I can’t do shit. I have issues against him in general though, I can’t find any weaknesses he has. He can escape anything I’ve figured out with ex headstomp or devil’s reverse, can go through anything with ex scissors, has good pokes, a teleport… Ugh. I hate bison.
I’m considering dropping dhalsim though because I can’t anti-air with him. I cannot shake my ST style play with him and when people jump I panick and don’t know what to anti-air with and just end up blocking and losing because then people realize they can jump in on me all fucking day long. Then I try to back jab as anti-air, eat a combo, get dizzied, and lose. It’s retarded. I consider my ground game good but as soon as they jump, they win. Especially if they’re one of those scrubs that basically holds u/f all day.
It took me some time to learn about Dhalsim’s anti air options too, but his anti-air options are amazing, and they’re extremely simple and play a major part in Dhalsim’s great zoning game. Back + fierce kick can stop just about any jumping fierce attack from just about anyone, even Ryu’s or Ken’s jumping fierce kick and you take no damage in return (also stops Blanka’s curved rolling attack in the air <.<). It can be followed up by a fierce punch when they land back where they first jumped. It’s got amazing priority and it’s not hard to time at all. I haven’t tried his medium punch (ducking MP or back MP I don’t remember), but I can say his back + fierce kick is amazing, try it out.
I learned a little bit more about Bison after learning more about Dhalsim’s anti-air options. Dhalsim’s fierce kick in the air can hit Bison out of his head-stomp move unless he’s using the EX version. Your other option is to dash or slide forward or back away before he lands and use down-fierce kick to slide and trip him after he lands (unless he’s blocking). It’s still a pretty hard match-up though and one thing I’d advise is to get the hell away from any corner and air teleport if he trys getting you with his ultra/super when you’re still barely airborne. And no, fierce kick + back won’t work on headstomp, maybe yoga blast if you time it well cause it’s very slow, but I don’t advise it.
u have to do b+rh early against ryu/ken j+rh
Alright guys, lets get some Rufus talk in. Dive kick and mixups are hard to deal with, suggessions?
I recently fought against a friend who mains Rufus, it ended up 16-10 for me. First I got scared of his changing timing with the air kicks and the pressure and stuff. But after a while I noticed that you can just as easily back roundhouse that like any other air attack. You just need to get the timing down, it helps when you are expecting it offcourse. But even when I wasnt expecting it, I could still at least trade after 10 games. One thing to be very cautious off is his Ultra though. My friend lured me by attacking me by air, knowing he would be hit back by my knee, and my standard follow up is standing fierce. Then he caught my standing fierce with his Ultra, time after time. So once he has his Ultra dont do it:) Dont forget downback fierce when he is pressuring you with alot of links.
Yeah, but the timing I think is less strict than with Ryu or Ken’s j+rh. If they time their attack well and you do too, you’ll probably trade hits, but at least he won’t be very close to you after :x. Btw, RH = Fierce kick D:?
Low punch = Jab
Medium Punch = Strong
Hard/Heavy punch = Fierce
Low Kick = Short
Medium Kick = Forward
Hard/Heavy Kick = Roundhouse
