Dhalsim's Matchups

Could you be more specific? The only place where he should give you trouble is after a knock down and mixing up hop/elec/throw/crossup ultra.

When it comes to blanka i have no idea what to do on wakeup. when he is jumping around i always get grabed or eat electricty. And when i try to jump away i get tripped by his slide dose anyone have any tips for me ??

Basically learn to block/tech and watch for his patterns, but it is really easy to get tripped up by him just like it is to be against fuerte. For one you shouldn’t jump away, because with hop shenanigans blanka can still be charging down, and up ball will knock you down out of the air, and start it all over.

So instead of trying to jump away i should just block on wake up then try to dash back to try and keep a safe distance ?

This is a good Sabin vid for how to beat blanka:

thanks guys now i have a general idea on what to do agianst that monster lol next match up i need to learn is boxer

if you want to see a good blanka dhalsim match… youtube JJJ vs evil rahsaan…

^ Hahaha! I watched that live. JJJ is seriously good Blanka action. We fought second round in last month’s tourney and he slammed me into losers… with a vengence. He was a Dic though.

What? JJJ is like the nicest person… He used to live here in B.C… He was here over the xmas break… I money matched him for 5 bucks… I beat his blanka but his bison beat me multiple times…

^ lol That’s what I was saying.

Blads how do you play against characters that like to turtle? Also whats the difference between the standing H.P and the C.forward HP? Safe yeah

cr.hp hits low as opposed to mid. It’s also much slower and seems to have less range.

Recently I have been watching Dhalsim vids all day long, usually players like Iyo, PPN, YHC-Mochi, Darui, Maru Megane. Their Dhalsims are awesome. However, there is 1 combo (option select) I am having trouble with. Which is lk -> super. I have Xbox at home and I have practiced for weeks (for this combo only). Still didn’t get it done.

I have searched some forums, and on youtube. But no luck there as well. Only videos showed the players did it in combo movie. But not actual input instructions.

Btw, I have Dhalsim my main since Sep 2008. Currently I have trouble dealing with Abel, Chun-Li.

I will post more later. Thanks!

The lk -> Super is definitely a little more difficult to land. You have to do it pretty fast to cancel it to the super. You really just have to do it fast, and also make sure you go through the qcf x 2 motion completely. That was one of the problems that I’ve had when learning how to do it. Plus, also being in the middle of the match can sometimes cause a player to rush the motions so fast that you actually don’t complete the actual command.

I have been playing Abel a lot recently, and what I do happen to do is I will try to RTSD the whole time. The object to the match is just proper zoning with your quicker pokes when he is at mid-range, because I’ts pretty obvious if he can’t get in, he can’t win. Badly placed Yoga fires will get punished pretty easily and it will hurt. And if Abel has ultra, I suggest you don’t use any at all (Unless your full screen, and even that can be punished if he randomly guesses when you’ll do a FB… Trust me). I say this match, you do really have to pick up on his tendencies pretty fast and react to it. Throw his rolls if he gets in your range to do so, and watch for that F.MK… Once you get hit by that, your pretty much in his web off wonders where he can hit you with a Tornado throw (or EX TT), jabs to keep you from jumping out, and also the S.FP FADC xx whatever Abel wants to do. Definitely try to mix up your escapes if you happen to get in these situations… The final part to look out for is his EX CoD, if you happen to be zoning him out pretty well. Chances are once he gets meter, players may start burning it to gain armor properties to get inside and fuck you up. In the long run, keeping a cool head is the most important part to this matchup.

I’ve been having a lot more success against Chun-li now, but I think I would like to play some more proficient players before I have any advice on the match-up. If I remember correctly about what Sabin said, FADC backdashes can really help in this match. Sorry, that’s all I know for now until I feel more comfortable in this match-up.

:qcf:.:qcf:.:lk:.:p:

Reccomend using light punch whenever you do this.

Mr Buster: you are right, has to be real fast.
Scamp Johnson: thanks for the command inputs. But I did it with the LK right before the forward. Which means the last 2 input is, down-forward + lk, forward + lp

Regarding the tactics with Abel. You are right about “keep a cool head”, and has to act automatically right after Abel does something. Also, I found that lots of Abel like to do F+MK, dash, mix ups. The point is after their flurries of light attacks (usually 3 to 4 hits), they will do F+MK. I try to press Saving Attack and release right the way. This way it counts as “counter hit”: and immediately stuns Abel. Not saying people will fall for this, but would be good if we keep this in mind.

Depends on which character you are facing, e.g. Ken, you could do slow fireball full screen away, then zone him if he jumps. But you can do short slides if he jumps back. When he is in the corner, keep doing slow yoga fires, then you can catch him with HP (If he’s not jumping), st.RH or J+mp (if he jump straight), B+HK or B+MP (if he jump attacks you), remember to slide if he did jump forward tatsumaki.

standing HP is much quicker than cr. neutral HP. But cr.neutral HP hits low.

He thought you were calling JJJ a ‘d*ck’. But I am sure you ment to say that he was playing the Dictator.

^ You got it!
J is a helluva nice guy, no way I would ever call him that. Except when he perfects me! lol

Alright… Balrog is rocking my ass every tourney i go to… I don’t know what to do, or what to bait out anymore… there’s jsut too many ways of playign balrog…

Can anyone give me insight on what the general strategy is agains’t balrog.
