Dhalsim's Matchups

Yeah, but Seth has the wall jump and srk to help him get out of sticky situations with gief. Sim has nothing except hoping gief makes a mistake and he can slide or teleport to the other side. Big difference there, imo.

El fuerte
NEW:
Habanero Dash just fadc it EN youre problem is gone:d

Hook arm beats all of Fuerte’s jumping Dash follow ups.

No!

And no!

A Fuerte who relies too much on Tostadas is FA bait, but a good Fuerte will mix in throws, run-stop tricks, corpse-hops, etc. He has a lot of tricks, and if you’re only seeing one of them, you’re playing the wrong Fuerte.

You can use FA (or b+MP, which beats dash throws with the right timing, but loses to Tostada Press pretty much every time … maybe unless Fuerte’s spacing is abysmal), and in some situations should use it, but there’s no one weapon that’s going to work against a Fuerte who’s mixing things up appropriately. This is a match about unpredictability. If Fuerte’s offense gets predictable, you can get out of it… but if your defense gets predictable, Fuerte gets a lot of free damage.

And, of course, if you’re going to FA, don’t show your hand - do it at the last moment, or you’re giving him plenty of time to react and use a throw.

Your best defensive options include back-dash, teleport, jumping away, FA and straight blocking, but they all beat and lose to different things that Fuerte can do. Jumping away gets you out of his dash throws, but loses to run-stop air grab and deep Tostada. FAing deals with Tostada and slide, but loses to throws. Back-dash beats almost everything (except throws at the right timing and spacing), but loses to run-stop tricks and staggered timing.

The biggest mistake you can make in this matchup is always trying to do the same thing to get out of his silly shit. Even just choosing a defense at random without trying to predict him is better than that.

Oh my bad. I thought b.MP beats Tostada Press, but only if you get it out early. But yeah, even with that its probably best to block/FA/back dash/Teleport as rattlejaw said.

I’ll do some testing. I’ve never seen it work, nor have I managed to get it to work myself (I play both 'Sim and Fuerte). Normally, Tostada beats pretty much everything unless it’s very badly timed or spaced.

If it does work, I’d still probably hesitate to recommend it as an option unless the timing is much simpler than I think it is. Anyway, I’ll give it a go when I have some time.

IAT back to air HP, ground HP punishes the shit out of whiffed Fuerte shenanigans. On wakeup back tele is almost always solid, then you can go for slides and sweeps (also good here) to get out of being way in the backfield. b.RH and Ultra any walljump garbs.

Fuerte is 100 times harder online than off. Keep it moving and you should be good. Use Ultra just to punish or you’ll get ultra’d.

awesome thread.

I basically registered here to see what I can do to improve on my sim vs gief matchup. It was frustrating to see lariat glove spamming gief players corner me to death. I’ll try out the b+RH, b+F anti-air approach that I haven’t used before.

WEll I GOT AGain a problem Lol
Yesterday i played against edmaster en well i was playing not bad i think it was 12-4 great for me but he sad that I was running away en not zonning i didnt understand him i only runned away when i couldnt handel him
Can sombdy explain me when to use back dash en tele i think i use it to much

OW en he said that i i used to much slide at close range.
I that bad to.

I think it’d be nice if the first post of this topic was edited to give a basic idea on how the match up works based on the information given here, cause they’re still blank and some people are asking questions answered a couple pages back T_T. The further details could be explored for the people using this topic for advice.

B.MP usually hits them, but you need to be careful about timing. Depending on the distance you are from them, you need to choose from either B.RH or B.MP. You don’t want to get knocked down cause he can cross you up or stop you with EX Tornadoe’s/Messiah Kicks. Worse case of all, you don’t want to get in a corner cause he can use tornado -> Ultra or pummel you to death.

Good news though is that Rufus can be in the same situation that would screw him over if he was in the corner, though if you make a wrong move he may approach you easily. You just need to know how your opponent plays and mix up your pokes very well. If you stay a screen away from him and keep him in a corner, you can keep him there pretty nicely if you yoga fire and HK him. He may try to jump approach you (that’s when long range HK is guaranteed to hit), or he may try to rush you (in which he’ll get hit by the yoga fire and you can just combine that with a hard punch). Put pressure on him with anti-air hard kick and yoga fires and hard punches. He’s pretty freakin fat and you can actually easily hit him with HK’s if you’re half a screen/a full screen away from him when he’s jumping majority of the time, though if he’s too close while in the air and he’s about to attack you, you’re probably better off with a B.RH cause HK is too slow close range. Keep in mind though that Galactic Tornado can block Yoga fire on the start up of the move and EX tornado blocks them entirely (plus suck you in if you’re too close to him) so he may try to approach you with those moves in which you want to use your HP (MP and MK trade hits I found out and force you into a knock down). Also find the right opportunities to throw him cause you wanna try to throw him into a corner or pull off some ultra shenanigans :p.

Also, avoid jumping towards him with hard punch or doing too many IAT tricks (unless he’s already down or in a corner where you can set up Ultra).

im havin a tough time vs geif and balrog can i get sum tips?
dhlsim is my secodary

IAT tricks…what does that?

vs balrog

fireball him all day, see what he does… if he jump antiair, if he TAP or EX something standing short will stop him in his tracks

thats the general gameplay, everything would be player specific

i also noticed that rogs walk into a lot of fierces

vs geif

never teleport at him. stay out of range zone him out. period.

and bait lariats with fireballs, back RH beats out lariat

gief is a tough match up, but not as horrible as ppl say imo

thanks,we never got to play on live cuz ur never on -.- lol

get at me threw aim

i only go online if someone wants to play

i dont play casually, not alone lol

What’s a good AA for rog when he jumps over your fireball from 3/4th away? Seems like rog can jump punch my limps when I try to shoot out a s.mk.

standing roundhouse or jump up strong

even teleport back would be fine in that situation

can rog jump punch sim’s s.hk? guess i’ll give it a try next change i get.

After Ryu’s hurricane kick, shouldn’t you be able to punish it with a grab right after (unless he tries grabbing you to)? Cause it’s really damn annoying how right after a hurricane kick, they’re able to do a light punch shoryuken upper-cut and it ends up hitting you before you can even grab them. Is that just a cause of online play or does that also happen offline <_<? It’s pretty much on par with Tiger Uppercut in priority =/=.

I’ve been seeing way too many Ryu’s online now on G2 >_<. They’re not like ken scrubs at least, but damn their Shoryuken stops all of your limb moves. I have to focus mainly on Anti-airing and getting them into a corner.

use downback+fierce against hurricane kick
