Yeah, b.mk xxx jab flame is better, no doubt. It has better range, it comes out faster and it’s easier to hit confirm when playing footsies at close range.
The thing is: I have terrible execution. My execution is the worst, ever, in the history of fighting games. I suppose for most people b.mk becomes natural and easy with practice. Not for me: I have been practicing it for literally a year and my success rate is probably still less than 50%. So at one point I said: fuck it, at least b.hp xx mp.flame xxx Super I can land consistently after the IAT.
idk guys b-forward yogaflame is pretty easy, i don’t think i ever miss the link.
what i usually do under pressure is use b short b forward and if the opponent tries to focus the back short or b forward you can link to yoga flame or yoga fire to keep distance.
This combo is hard as heck. Someone explain to me when u go for this crossup? only after an untechable knockdown? just toss a meaty yoga fire out there and hope u can set up the mixup iat?
Recorded some vids today which may or may not be covered elsewhere. They are what I’ve found to be Sim’s most damaging corner combos. Make sure to set auto block on training mode to get the timing down.
Here’s one that does 541 dmg without Ultra.

Also, here’s the link to my playlist which has hit confirm setups and punishes for Shangri-La, as well as La’d matches.
I was hoping to get some feedback like this. I tried to follow up with df.LP and s.LK, but no avail. Thought I might be too far for anything closer…but will give it a shot.
I was wondering if you guys could help me out with a question. I have been playing dhalsim for quite some time now. However, I’m still having problems with his super combo. I used to be able to pull it quite often on my good side, but now the cancel into super is failing almost everytime. I don’t have any problems with the BNB it’s just the super cancel that gives me problems. After some testing in training mode it seemed like my inputs aren’t clean/fast enough when I do it in the combo, although I can do it cleanly when I use the super/ultra motion in non combo situations . So my question is, what do you do after your yoga flame inputs with your stick? Do you let it in neutral or do you keep holding your stick and start the motion etc… I realise this must be an odd question because most people have trouble with the BNB, whilst the cancel is supposed to be quite easy. I’d appreciate any help/tips you can give me concerning the super cancel. Thanks in advance.
After the yoga flame motion i do a full half circle forward, then a quarter circle forward followed by punch to do the super.
By doing the FULL half circle forward i initiate a fluid circular motion which somehow transfers to the quarter circle afterwards. I had to start doing it this way after many hours of practicing over and over to improve my execution on this cancel.
Yeah, after countless hours practicing this (my prob was only on player 1 side), I found that the most natural method for me in the heat of action to cancel flame into super was just quickly wiggling the stick (insert pun) up and down in a diagonal motion in the lower right quadrant of the gate. Sometimes I go from :l: to :r: before starting the motion, other times I start it :d:, then it’s a matter of either :r::d::df::r::d::df::r: punch or just :d::df::r::d::df::r: punch. The trick is not making it a fluid motion like you’re doing a qcf because in a way you’re “bouncing” the stick in a manner that quickly inputs those motions. I found it quicker and easier than riding the gate and trying the same method Shawn suggested, which also works just fine. It’s just a matter of what feels natural to you. And that will only come after hours of practice. I consciously had to switch from moving the stick in a very precise manner with wrist to using more fingers for this. The best way to describe the motion is, imagine your left hand in a fist thumb up like you’re playing roshambo. Quickly open and close your fingers twice after you finish flame. I got the bnb down using the shortcut to flame which is maybe one reason why this method works the best for me.
Thats nothing, I’ve been playing for a year and still cant do basic links in real matches. I gave up eventually, thats why I play dhalsim/gief, can get away with fewer combos needed, although I know I ll never be even a little bit good without being able to do combos with links. I’m about 1200 pp on ssfiv. So don’t feel bad there’s always someone a lot worse.
The wiggling of the stick up and down in a diagonal motion in the lower right quadrant works miracles. From the both methods suggested, this one seemed very natural, because I also use the shortcut for the BnB. I can land the super cancels quite often now in player one side and the other side is also starting to improve. Thanks alot.
