Yeah, especially if think U2 is good after an IAT.
My tips are simple:
never use s.hp at medium/close distance. Sagat focuses them with ease. At medium distance you must use s.mk, s.mp s.lk s.lp. Sometimes d.mp is also good.
learn to punish well. b.hk does the half damage of b.hp xx flame mp. Even the grab does more.
use instant U2 as antiair, not after a random IAT.
Your spacing is good, your zoning is good at far and close distance, not at medium yet. Keep playing
I just want to add that doing U2 after a ārandomā teleport might be good if you predict a fireball and catch him during is recovery frames from throwing the fireball!
This is 2 matches of me versus 2 of sweedens best players yagami (DH) and keffi (GO).
In the mirror match between me and yagami, I am on the right and he is on the left. You can see he is a much more solid and defensive dhalsim and is constantly punnishing my wiffed FP and trades with my fireballs. I am a little more reckless myself, and it pays off.
Against the akuma player I didnāt play well. I miss a lot of anti airs, and fail with U2 both times I try to use it. Here my lack of defensive skills hurt me hard!
Very entertaining vid! Well played win, sir ā I almost always pick U1 in this mirror, but this match made me realize how versatile U2 can be, when Sim is so naturally prone to doing an anti-air to jump in attacks ā itāll make me think twice of how to react next time I play a Sim mirror and my opp selects U2, thatās for sure =) I noticed that itās an 8 part video series⦠are you in any more of them? At work and unfortunately donāt have time to sift through them all, but I will periodically do so.
Sim mirrors are so much fun to watch (but not play imo lol).
Iām glad you liked the vid:) There are a couple of matches of me in the part before this one, but Iām not really proud of my performance:P These are actually a mini tournament between Norway and Sweden (Neighbour countries), and it took place at Dream Hack at the night, after a whole day of tournament. I wasnāt at my best to say the least:P
2 new vids by Darui, who I think is a stellar overseas Sim.
zUXCX4fVliI]YouTube - Wildcat815 [Hakan] vs Darui [Dhalsim
Couple notes hereā¦
1.) You can tell he really knows his aaās ā as his st.mp at 01:13 is lovely and 100% apropos for that range. How often do you see st.mp as an aa? [You know what I think is a great aa, that I never see used? Db.fp. Iāll get into that at another time.]
2.) Nice maximum punish of 'Kanās whiffed super at 01:20 (directly after the first note heh). How many players know how to react after Hakan misses his super? Not many, Iām wagering. Before I saw this video ā Iād have gone the safe route with a throw to regain zoning position, or db.hk.
***If you guys arenāt familiar with Wildcat815, youāre uncultured His Hakan is just too much fun!
iLXU_1BjBOI]YouTube - ACE E I RI N [Guile] vs Darui [Dhalsim
Notes on this awesome matchā¦
1.) LOL @ Dhalsimās ācross-upā at 00:43. I donāt even care if Iām the only person alive who found that funny.
2.) @ 01:00 ā this is why you do NOT do mid-range fireballs against chars with projectiles. We are all guilty from time to time
3.) @ 02:57 ā possibly the sickest Dhalsim bnb xx super > ultra setups Iāve ever seen (granted itās corner shenanigans). Fucking splendid. The craziest part? Not ONE ounce of mashing. Watch his inputs. To be that good⦠sigh
Darui is unequivocally one of my very favorite Dhalsim players. Empty jumping on Guile? Are you fucking kidding me?!? <re: 01:57 ā he doesnāt do crazy damage afterward, but that is not my pointā¦> This guy has majestic, iron balls. Plus, his usage of yoga fire as a well timed aa is very nice as well.
^ all the vids of Dhalsim in that thread are of me haha (except the one vs Cody) I coulda sworn they recorded more of my matches but i guess he decided not to upload them
St.MP is a great AA, though it has very specific usage.
But db.fierce as an AA? No, dude. No way. Iāve tried to use it a million times thinking that Iād find a range where it wonāt get beat or trade, and there is none. Check out the hitbox on it: db.fierce
That hitbox is contained entirely within a huge green hurtbox, which means any jump in attack will at the very least trade if not outright beat it clean. It just doesnāt work for AA purposes.
Now look at db.strong. The hurtbox is still there above the hitbox, but itās pulled back a little bit to Simās wrist so hitting with the tip of the punch can work in specific ranges. db.strong is good for hitting things like Ryuās jump in Tatsu, but getting the range just right is tough. Iām fucking free to that jumpin Tatsu shit still.
