This Makoto is breathtaking:

Sim gets beat the fuck down for taunting. Only including this for lulz factor:

This Bison is just mean. Mean, mean, mean dictator! If Sim spent any more time holed up in the corner this level was going to charge him rent.

I’m honestly not impressed by that Makoto at all. Add ‘CrasherGout’ on XBL if you want to play a Makoto that knows the match-up. Neither Duke nor Iori seemed to know the match-up very well.
Thank you for both positive feedback and constructive ctiticism!
Back short seems to be beaten by throw, but b.mk beats throw? If that’s the case, I will mix it up:)
I agree that I shoould ahve went for more iat bnb, but I guess I tried to be solid and not risc anything since we played a set and we filmed it.
Ye Rose can blow me up if I backdash or teleport on wakeup, so I should probably try to block more:)
This! As I said, I tried to stay solid and didnt risc anything this set, but I have found that liat set ups are very good in the match. If she neutral jumps I can stil knee or b.mp her
Really? I thought that Makoto made some very nice reads on his opponent. Maybe ‘breathtaking’ was adjectivally incorrect — but he certainly is impressive. And I’ll check out ‘CrasherGout’ thx for the heads up How do you fare against him, and is he also east coast? If anybody else knows a solid Makoto, plz let me know. I’ve fought PaperTiger78 and SilverTrinity, and ousted them both. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good, but they didn’t have any gameplay styles that I haven’t seen before. Makoto is fun times, both to play as and against (imo).
A throw has start-up time too. If you meaty then you’ll beat a throw.
I mean, that Makoto did well enough. I just play against a better Mak on a regular basis. So, when I watch the match I see that the Mak player is still trying to wrap their head around the match-up.
CrasherGout is in my local scene. He’s one of the smartest players that I know. He’s great at a wide array of games (TvC, MvC, etc, etc) Anyway, he switched to Makoto from Rufus when Super was released and hasn’t looked back. He started out by getting demolished every tournament. Slowly though he’s starting to overtake everyone. I generally lose to him at first and then slowly adapt to the point where I’m winning more than I lose.
This guy is dedicated to fighting games, let me tell you… I really hope that you have a chance to play him. I’ll message him about you.
st.lk, st.mk, flame, super, st.lk?? does st.lk after super always work?? i think i’ve tried this and just either didn’t recover in time or something…perhaps you experts can enlighten me
MASSIVE props to Filipino Champ for his outstanding play at SoCal Regionals this past weekend. If any of you missed the exciting Grand Finals 'tween him and The Beast, you can check out the vids below:
Note: I just did a cursory search on YouTube, so I’m not sure if the vids are of good quality, otherwise, you can simply search for Filipino Champ vs Daigo Umehara and catch plenty of other vids.
First it’s the unsafe teliports. They didn’t work once, but you continued to use them. It puts sim in a very bad situation at best and at worst it’s punished much harder than a jab.
It worked in this fight, but the teliporting mid blockstring away or on wakeup doesn’t work against good players they will catch on quick and punish often putting you in another bad wake-up situation. Not that you shouldn’t use it at all, but be weary of how much.
other than that i would use more ex. up blast. Lots of opportunities and its a great anti air that i don’t use to it’s full potential yet.
Other than those you did pretty good i think seth is definitely a tough match-up.
All the vids that were on the stream, including all the ones FChamp played, will be up on LevelUp’s YT page eventually. And yeah, he was amazing, definitely the most creative Dhalsim player out there.
Great job on the stream, David! You and Chen are a knowledgeable and informative twosome on the commentary. Keep it up!
@Scamp — somebody will definitely post the vids when they’re finally up =) In the meantime, you can whet your appetite for some of the competition (including FChamp in the SoCal vs NorCal matchup, etc.) in the archived footage below:
