You seem to know your shangrila:P Did you know if you slide under one of vegas wall attacks, it’s a free U2 every time (If you are in range)?

Impressive play by Art here, making AquaSilk look like an average Gief (which, believe you me, he is NOT).

Enjoyable video.

cool match! 2 really good players battling, gotta love inputs too

Truthfully, I find inputs distracting, and heavily favor watching replays without them on. Just my 2 cents. Only time I put them on is when I see high level players doing option selects I’m unfamiliar with. shrugs Maybe it’s just me

Have played dhalsim before but havent been playing SSF4 regularly for the past month (practically none) , however i love the char along with Zang or Chun.

But i would love some tips against the abel matchup and guilde maybe.

and yes im aware we might not be the best but then again the tournament scene isnt that large in Sweden (alot of swedes can confirm it)

Is he as good as Iyo was? Better?

I can’t say for sure, as I most likely is hella biased as a big Iyo fan, but I don’t think YHC Mochi’s way of playing Dhalsim is the best way. Yes I do believe the “Iyo-style” was closing in on perfecting Dhalsim, and I feel that Iyo could turn Dhalsim into a complete beast in super. Hope he will give it a try when the arcade release comes.

What I don’t like about Mochi’s style, is the random feel to his way of playing some times. I do realize it is not as random as it seems, when he teleports in with low instant air teleport without a fireball at the screen, and it is probably a calculated risk when he suddenly desides to drill or mummy a grounded opponent, but I would rather like to see the Iyo style, where he creates a completely unpassable wall.

i actually think Mochi is closer to my level if anything (better setups than me but reaction is worse.) Iyo is still the best sim. Mochi is really good though but he panicks like the rest of us mortals!

I see he’s been playing Ibuki recently. I wish him and Shiro would make comebacks. Would’ve been cool to see how they did in this Godsgarden online thing.

Well, I was WAY late to SF4 party. Vanilla did not do it for me. But, I really like Super. Point being, I had to play (and am still playing) catch up w/ Sim. Anyway, so what I have done to help me catch up was diagram out what top Sim players do. When I get bored at work, I study and transcribe matches. I create a flow chart of the match and look for patterns and play styles.

I can tell you between Sabin & YHC Mochi who does what where - i.e, how they deal with fireballs, how they react to jumps, how they deal with FA pressure, favorite get up techniques, mix ups, how they deal with different characters, and where they lose their life.

:EDIT:This is on past games only. Not to mention. Just b/c I can break down what they are doing doesn’t me that it can actually be done easily in a match. They are top tier players for a reason. 'Cause thier f’n good!

Yeah, it?s a little over the top. But, I learn SF games slowly. I like to learn every in and out about a character. Talk to me about ST Sim, and I can make your head spin… But that is beside the point.

I agree with Sabin’s evaluation of the different Sims. I would however, place Sabin just a bit above YHC. Yes, I know YHC does some crazy shit and has the flash factor. He’s a fantastically top tier wonderful player. But YHC takes a lot risks (even when he has a huge lead in life) that often can cost him a match. Sabin is SO freaking solid with his Sim defense that he doesn’t have to make huge chances to win. He picks and chooses his attacks much more carefully.

Anyway, I think IYO is a perfect balance between the two. And of the limited match videos I have seen of his, I believe he is the Sim King. But that is just my humble opinion. Some may argue the point and that?s cool we are all entitled to our opinion.

This!

Also if you could post those flowcharts, that would be great!

^^^^ They’re not flow charts in the sense that you might think of “flow chart ken” they are actuall transcriptions of the matches. There are quite boring, however patterns do emerge.

As far as posting them… Err…

First. There are all hand written. So that might be diffcult.

Second. Not that he has said anyting about it and he might not even care. But, I’ll leave Sabin’s tactics to Sabin (YHC on the other hand…). He worked hard to get his Sim where is it, and REALLY respect that. He puts his videos out there for us all to see on TS, and I really enjoy them. So, if you want to learn from his Sim, take the time to search it on You Tube and really look it over. There is a ton to learn. His Sim rocks :karate:

Third I will work YHC stuff for you guys. Give me time to put it in a format that can be express in the thread. It’s pretty interesting.

Not to be anal, fatboy, but it’s YHC Mochi

fatboy, any vids so we can see you playin?

So Wednesday I went to Starbase for the first time and they just started a Danisen ranking league. I registered my character as Dhalsim. The match format is best of 5. My first match was against a Sagat player named Haunts, 2nd match was against a Viper player named Krizzle (I got destroyed), 3rd against a Vega player named Hotrod.

danisen league starbase 1, DANISENNN! iplaywinner on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment My first match starts at 1:04:00. Second match starts at 1:27:00.

danisen 2, danisen starbase iplaywinner on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment Last match starts at the very beginning. I missed about a dozen U2 punishes in the Vega match lol. I tend to get flustered when I’m not controlling the match. It’s something I’ve actually come a long way on.

I’m going to keep playing with these guys and level up a lot more.

Well… Sh*t… Thanks.

No, as I said I am not any good at this game yet. I didn’t start playing until SSF4. I am certianly not a person you’d want to see any videos from. I’ll leave the good videos to the good players. :karate:

Fireballs when the enemy was within jump / slide range. This is a big deal and it hurt you over and over again.

Standing fierce when the enemy was within jump range / point blank. Your opponent didn’t exploit this like they should have. You should stop this before they start to learn the matchup better. s.MP, s.LK, s.MK, cf.LP exist for a reason

No anti-air normals? Blanka player did not respect your anti air game at all as a result. To be fair you started to anti air him a bit more near the end. I don’t think that I saw you use b.MP once, though. b.MP makes a LOT of sense in a matchup where your opponent is trying to cross you up constantly like vs Blanka.

Instead of punishing with a throw, use b.HP -> MP yoga flame when possible. Throw is one of the worst forms of punishment available damage-wise. However, often it can fix your positioning(get you out of the corner), so use it then. Use combos at other times.

You might consider back+FP as default first attack in the IAT BnB as it’s overhead, whereas b+RH isn’t.

Consider using b+mk -> yoga flame or fire to create space instead of just b+mk.

Opponent’s ex blanka ball punished fireballs like 12 times.

For the IAT combo realize that sometimes your opponent is going to be pushed under you for the fireball. You’ll have to be ready to react if that’s the case. Either change your BnB followup to the correct side or go for a throw or teleport if you see it happen.

Try to IAT closer the ground. Literally forward, down, down-forward, up-forward damn near IMMEDIATELY all punches or kicks. You seem to jump completely off the ground to Blanka’s head level before teleporting. Your goal is to jump up only as high as you have to be to have time to b.FP once you phase in.

Reaction super to lp ball doesn’t seem like a very good idea to me, some may have different mileage. I’d rather not take the gamble and focus on being ready for his followup.

At the end of the last match you got really impatient despite having a huge life lead and ate an ultra because of it.

Good matches man. I think with a little focus on not doing unsafe things (s.FP and fireballs) when less than fullscreen you’ll end up doing much better.
