I would suggest against using Ultra 2 for Bison. You will end up trying to guess and losing.
Don’t be so focused on getting out of the corner from the scissor kick pressure. Block and wait, throw out a poke (when it’s safe) and wait. Eventually he’s going to try to jump in, slide under and get out.
I have 3 matches on here the first is at 1:17. This one isnt even a match. It was like Standing roundhouse practice.
the 2nd is at 2:13.
and my losing match is at 2:50. I could have had this at numerous points. Munny is a good balrog so i’ll take the loss and train harder.
Hey, thanks man. I really appreciate the kind words.
I’ve had a few people ask me so I figured I’d post here. The SSF4 tournament that occurred during the USA National SBO Qualifiers for Super Turbo couldn’t be streamed due to the venue completely dropping the ball on the internet connection. Game Galaxy arcade did a great job setting everything up, but at the last minute the internet guys provided us something that couldn’t even transmit the lowest quality video.
I ended up getting 5th place out of 45 players. DamDai got 1st. That guy is good. He’s also super nice. I ended up getting knocked out by a guy named Isaac from Houston. He pulled out a desperation Psycho Punisher (he had like 1 sliver of life left at full screen) and I decided that i’d just block it instead of jump. Like an idiot I blocked LOW. I wanted to stab out my eyes but those are the ropes.
Dhalsim was hardly ever in the same place once Viper was in the air. Slides, back dashes or teleporting. Also used drills effectively. If he had time, you can see him using j.mp to knock Viper out of the air. He also did a lot of Ex-Upflame seemingly expecting a trade (both on wakeup and in place.)
On wakeup, I wonder if you can teleport in place similar to avoiding a Zangief grab.
Sidenote: Those videos show amazing use of U2 and sniper j.HP hits.
xians video is very nice. i almost never learn anything from watchign a sim video that isnt based out of japan. really brilliant play there. i got hype.
i guess since viper is high risk high reward, sim u2 allowed you to play that game too hah
Great Sim, and finally something new to watch.
He used a bunch of setups after a backward grab. Teleport near the opponent and drill, or grab or db.mk xx flame. I think he played very risky in some situation (i.e. the end of last match), but I love his use of b.mp, j.mp.
Instant hk drill, ultra 2 was risky but it hurts a lot. Slide and then U2 is great, but my tests in training mode suggest me to not use at all because the input can change.
Fortunately his opponent didn’t know that an early j.hk could beat Sim’s j.mp.
Thanks Hornetajc.
More good play from Xian. That was a beautiful reaction from the Abel player to cancel his Breathless as soon as he spotted that Sim threw out an ex fireball vs. a regular fireball.
Maybe the Abel should have tried his chance… I was breathlessed out of an ex-fireball once. Abel absorbed 1 hit and I got grabbed through the other hit of the ex fire. But I think in my situation we were a bit closer… just want to point out that ex fireball is not guaranteed against breathless.
Against Dhalsim, Abel should use Ultra 1. Ultra 2 sucks against Sim IMO.
PS: Xian makes the matchup look like 6-4 for Sim, the guy is a monster! He’s a Wall that keeps Attacking and Abel can’t get in. I love how he “spams” normals, mix the long ones and short ones but always stays safe.
The reaction after he hit b.LP on Abel’s ultra, and cancel it on teleport was awesome as well. It should be a forward teleport to be 100% safe but, hell, I doubt I would have done even the backwards one in that situation. Mad props to him!
You’re correct, it’s absolutely spatial. Breathless will in fact absorb just one hit of the EX fireball if within close distance, I was just pointing out that it was a nice reaction on behalf of the Abel player I think I’m gonna go to the lab after work and try to find out the precise safe distance for this scenario. Keep you guys posted (not that this situation comes up often, but it’s still good to know).
