Here’s a video of me vs some player from Houston named Isaac. I made 2 incredible mistakes that sealed my fate. 1) I BELIEVE that I throw tech’d an ex stomp, i’m not sure what happened there. 2) I down-blocked bison’s ultra 2. Except for those I think it was a fairly decent set. Criticisms welcomed as usual.
Here’s a video of me against a Dudley/Gouken player. I’m not very good at either matchup, really. It takes me some time to adapt to play against Dudley.
Great vids! I was surprised that there were so few drills used! I find drills fairly useful in this mirror.
oh, and @ 09:15 in Part 1 — Top 5 coolest super counter vs ultra I’ve ever seen. Rewound that part about 15 times lol
Cen is a maniac, but great play on both sides.
EDIT: I must have only watched a portion of these vids before I mentioned lack of drills. Drills were pretty prominent in the 2nd half of Part 2. Fantastic drill xx b.mk xx l.flame xx super @ 5:56.
I don’t get why the Sim mirror is always shitted on by people commentating and by Sim players themselves. I fucking love it and honestly think when played well it is the best mirror match in the game.
Congrats on retaking your #1 position, my friend =)
Lol @ SirJMcWild or whatever his boosting ass name is.
Sim mirrors can be fun, but I find them frustrating as well. I got handled by MrBuster702 a few days ago. Props to his Sim - that motherfucker is no joke.
Thanks for sharing these vids, fergie! Positively jaw dropping comeback in round 2 of the Iyo/Daigo match. saves to favorites
Am I the only one that did not know that Inyour opinion was (and naturally is acronymous to) Iyo? Or that PPN is AudioSunsun? I found all of this out today. <3 the internet.
I also had a “duh” moment on the Iyo acronym. LoL. And thanks for the compliment from earlier. Yours is nice too.
Also got to give a shout out to Satyamdas. I swear, every time I run into a problem that just really stumps me. He’s like the first person I MSG on Live. Thanks for the advice on the Fei long matchup. I haven’t lost to one since talking to you.
Quick tip… The wonders of St. LK. Gives Dictator nightmares. <— I’m probably the last actually stumble on this, and this ends up already being common knowledge lol.
Old man Jason “Afro” Cole here. Prob dont even know who i am these days but its all good. I still support all Dhalsim players =D
Here are some vids of me utilizing Ultra2. I am a firm believer that this is one of the most powerful Ultras in the game, right next to Abels Breathless. I also believe that in extreme high level of mastery, Ultra2 is the ultimate choice in 80% of his match ups.
I do a weekly event out of my house, the AfroDOJO. Here is our singles event that happen last night. Towards the end i did change to balrog, cause im having a bit of trouble beating cammy. My strategy is not as good atm.
Nice. The only OS I knew was the last one, drill with super.
But in a real match you’ll probably never use db.hk (sweep) so the same OS can be used after a neutral grab.
I think Sim’s OS need a new thread with a full list. (the existing thread is not “clean” as I would :P)
Thanks gore !
I only used the sweep, because it’s more convenient for the recording of dhalsim.
But this os can be done in every drill … one other set up I use for this is when I slide under a fireball, hit the opponent with slide HK.
Right now I’m thinking about other os with dhalsim, I’ll test my ideas later.
Gizoku (or anyone for that matter) - I’m a n00b, so forgive my question as it’s probably obvious for you all, but does Xian (around 3:17) perform his Heavy Drill Kick, so that he can cancel into his Ultra II? I’m just wondering why the Heavy Drill Kick is even used when it seems like the Ultra II movement that ends on an up-towards would have sufficed. Now, again please forgive my ignorance. I don’t know if you can actually cancel into Sim’s Ultra II from the Heavy Drill Kick or if there is some kind of frame advantage setup after performing the Drill. I absolutely love the look of Sim’s Shangri-La, so I’m trying to learn practical applications of it. So far Catastrophe still seems to be the Ultra of choice for most Sim players. :pleased:
The drill is first used, because dhalsim will be at about neutral frames after it hits. This leaves the option for a throw, which dhalsims often uses after a drill. The opponent knows this, and has been trained through countless of fights against dhalsim’s to tech, or try to throw after they have blocked a drill… Because of this, a drill followed by shangrila, often catches the other player crouch teching or wiffing a throw.
