IMO: it moved from 5-5 in Vanilla to 4.5 - 5.5 in Super.
And yes, it’s incredibly difficult to regain the life lead in that match.
Yo you guys do know since then I have yet to lose to Dimenion’s Guile in tourney right? I think the match is 5-5 again, just have to get used to adjusting to the nerfed range of standing fierce since it’s the key to this match. which generally means, try not to throw fireballs to match sonic booms unless youre in range to punish the sonic boom. also never throw fireball first and just walk up, try to control the spacing. once guile is cornered, it becomes in sims favor again.
to counter lvl 1 focus (extremely good for advancing on sim…) i suggest ex fire into stand fierce or just avoid the spacing of focus until you save meter to blow up his focus next time.
those 2 things were what was giving me problems in the matchups. obv theres more to it than that but those 2 things stood out in my mind vs guile.
I did not. However, no one here expects you to lose consistently to anyone.

Yo Art just so you know, I wanted to post that grand finals match vs. Dieminion from citiofbrass’s house tourney where you won instead but I couldn’t find it. I guess Akuma’s ass earthquake destroyed the recording. The match looked exactly the same just with a better outcome. I just needed some video evidence to show that the match is definitely not in Sim’s favor, at best it’s even.

so what is the magic distance that you want to keep in this matchup? When i’m in range of FP or just outside of it, I’m really hesitant to get into a fireball war because i can’t counter ex boom with ex fire on reaction and if i do toss out a fireball and he jumps over its a free hit, the anti air isn’t coming out fast enough… and the match with deimionion that you won he jumped a lot allowing u easy b+hk… i dont know. hate this damn matchup but the guile i play ASSUREs me its tougher for him than me.
magic range is like, the tip of his standing fierce. if guile is in the corner you can control when you get inside/outside the fierce range so it gives him hell
if youre getting jumped on, stop throwing unsafe fireballs at a range where they can punish bro =)

Here are some great matches between a solid Sim I’ve never heard of (MicVlaD) vs. WorstGiefEver (Zangief)
MicVlaD really uses reverse teleport roundhouse very well to stuff lariats. Some matches are bleh, but for the most part, if you’re looking to improve your game vs. Gief, these vids are great. He also uses U2 beautifully in a few instances… although I generally stick to U1 all day vs. Gief (mostly for its AA properties), I might switch it up after this set.

Gootecks sesh
Recently had a pretty productive sesh with gootecks spanning roughly 30 matches, mainly Rog (one of my worst match ups) and a few w Rose whom I don’t have much trouble with. Primarily use U2 vs Rog. I dunno man. U2 catches him out of all his rush punches, even ex, not to mention jumpins. You have to be quick with the instant La but it’s no more challenging than buffering your short slide super.
MicVlad is a fellow Belgian countryman. I didn’t know he was still playing. He is quite skilled and has a very particular dhalsim style. Gratz on the win shawn, no dhalsim likes to play against a bison three times in a row:)

Yo I just bought your/Gootecks freaking audio thingy SF4 tips vol 2. Lucky i’m rich.
I haven’t listened to all of it but I think its already improved my game – does cr b+mp really stuff the Rufus dive kick spam or has that shit changed since SSF4. Anyway, was wondering if I could get your permission to combine video of the shit you talk about in each of those over the audio. I’d send you guys the file when i’m down cuz i’m sure while u guys are busy being pro at this game you dont’ have time to add video to those files. And since i suck, i could always do that. I’m sure i wont’ get around to finishing it once i get to disc 2 but eh… anyway just wanted to say that although i wouldn’t really be prone to pay for some shit, its interesting things on there that someone in my situation (no pros around) would never get elsewhere.
