Dhalsim Video Thread

Give me a little insight about this my brother…

A good while back he sat down with me at Game Galaxy Arcade and helped me out with Sim. He basically showed me how to deal with Zangief’s crap and how s.RH and jumping roundhouse can shut down lariat. He showed me overhead chop -> super. He taught me about focus attack release -> back dash -> forward dash -> super. He taught me about lk -> b.lk and how it’ll beat about everything. LK -> b.LK -> b.MK -> yoga fire. He showed me why I should use lk slide -> lp yoga flame instead of lk slide -> lp yoga fire. He showed me how b.MK crosses up in the air in case the opponent is pushed under you after a fireball -> IAT setup. I’m trying to remember more.

I mean, sure. I take this stuff for granted, now. But, at the time all of these things were really strong insight.

Why did he say to use lk.slide -> lp.flame instead of fire?

Armor break + 1/4th less recovery.

Yea but startup favors fire, not flame

What you write makes sense, but I do not like. The best dhalsim world does not,The Iyo dhalsim is a very aggressive and not wait for the clock. And in this case I did not expect! And I like his style and take notes. (I am not making comparisons only in those matchups I adopted a style and won. Probably being unsafe nobody expects to do. But it is a point of view. You wait and I attack with Dhalsim when I can!Lol but I do not always play attacking!

Shawn does have a point though. While the unsafe style may work against these opponents. V.S top players it’s not just a simple move your taking if they react, which 99% of the time they will. It will be a very damaging combo and even if it’s not you will be next to them. Which in sim’s case is not a place you want to be especially v.s a competent player. Trust me when I’m low on life my first instinct is to IAT for a damaging combo. V.S the players i play that come to these boards 99% of the time i do that i lose. it’s best to play patient with some slight aggresive style mixed in. But to each their own do what works man.

Gonna slide in and post, its been awhile. I want to show you these ranbat vids for critiques, if I did something stupid, just say it and explain the situation to me, even if i did something right, i’m sure its better ways to do it, lemme know

This is 2v2 teams, gonna show my Sim matchs:
vs Antwan Alucard Ortiz using Dudley

Winner Finals vs ibuki ( hard match up) In this one I did a bonehead u1 fireball and he just EX under and threw me, but the second time that happen, he did a move and I thought he was in some type of recovery :frowning:

vs Wolfkrone, C. Viper -

knocked to loser finals against Antwan Alucard’s team

This will be a competent opponent is relative, but of course vs hi level players do not play that lol but that I know and just played that way because I concluded that I could, what question?Vs a high level Player of course also played with much more care. But not always need to play the same way, and evaluate whether the opponent in a few seconds is crucial. If I made an IAT and he would interrupt any more but as could not counter kept as simple as that! And to prove it does not always play like that just put a video that almost no one I IAT and zoning. Basically what I do is experiement if they can cut their moves, and if so dumb it does not continue!

I get so conflicted sometimes. Fire has quicker start up and even though it trades if your opponent does anything other than block, you still score a knock down. Flame has better recovery, does decent chip, and creates decent space. Neither combo :frowning:

Attacking is fine. Iyo isn’t going to just teleport to the other side of a dude. You have to have a trap set up to do it. You’re missing my point. I’ll try to further illustrate it using the video against Ryu as an example.

1:18 unsafe teleport
1:22 unsafe teleport
1:46 unsafe teleport
2:00 unsafe teleport
2:45 unsafe teleport into corner
2:54 unsafe teleport

Any of these unsafe teleports could easily have been punished severely. I’m not trying to get on your case or ride you. I’m simply trying to communicate the idea that an unsafe teleport is not a matter of opinion. Everyone has to fight themselves to keep from doing this. Sometimes impatience or intuition cause us to go for it. Playing safe doesn’t not mean sitting in a corner holding backwards the whole round while your opponent trashes you and you do no damage. It means don’t do anything that is going to get you raped by players of even moderate skill levels.

@Chat

I played Antwan Ortiz the other day. Beat him 5 games in a row and he sent me messages like. “You’re a scrub, I’m a professional. Nice lag tactics.” I didn’t even know who he was before that. He’s probably a nice enough guy and just got frustrated, but damn. His execution was pretty solid but I think that he’s no better than a number of Nashville players.

Lol ok. I dont say no! But playing with Dhalsim is a risk and I like to take chances. But I think I just say that no game ever so! Then there are indeed some teleports the most but those opponents are not so noobs as you think. But I understand what you say but sometimes I like to take risks and even against players of great skill I have had success in these risks. Most times no one thinks I do because it’s too obvious, and so it works! As I said vs players that do not move and are waiting teleports do not because that is what they are waiting as simple as that!

I think risky play only works against people who don’t regularly play against dhalsim. Don’t get me wrong I do unsafe things after I feel it out but if you don’t have a trap setup all most chars need to do is hit LP on reaction to make things in their favor. @ ricky. Even if they expect teleport mixups you can still trap some characters. A lot of guiles like to flash kick teleports. throw an ultra1 on their knock down then kkk teleport. Trade ultra. And if they don’t flash kick you get high low games. Feel free to correct me If I’m wrong.

Shoutous to Shawn for droppin knowledge

My friends you are right! But do not take these matchs as an example, just put them because it was to be my experience of the matchs tournmente mode. Vs experienced players just do zoning and almost never teleport.

Skryba is a good player! In that match I knew I could do no teleport because he has experience to cancel them. In two or three times I tried to check it happened:

Vs. top players need a great zoning and patience to hold the matches, I know. But thank you for the advice people!

I didnt realized you could fireball and dash into super or ultra. I just found out today lol.

You can’t fireball into ultra, only super.

actually i did it yesterday in a ranked matched on a ibuki, same set up. maybe because it was a smaller char?

My bad, i meant to say you can fireball dash, then do ultra while the opponent is still air born.

I think this match is a user of the forum here (Konkret) but I am unsure! The last round was excellent! It shows that you have the BnB’s Dhalsim at your fingertips lol! Congratz
