By the way this moves dhalsim I saw who was playing lol Iyo, the pokes him is phenomenal, the timings just perfect, really had to miss seeing the fight … the best and most skilled dhalsim world to me! And you must see that this is not any one Akuma is Eita, very good too!

Wow! This Mjou guy is incredible…
Very unique style, great knowledge of his opponents options and excellent ability to get in their heads.

Incredible. I’ve never seen a char jump in to a fireball and get Super’ed directly afterwards. Pretty impressive reflex. Very solid Sim play.

look at 0:34-0:38 and 00:42 you can clearly see its a st.fierce. He does a df.strong in round 2.

He lost the next match against Momochi, but the last 30 seconds of the 2nd round were some of the most intense I’ve ever seen. The whole tourney was just an anti-Sim brigade, it was a great showing considering the opponents.

GGs Snafoo, thx! I don’t know about free, Sim vs. Abel is 4-6 even if the Abel is playing w/ a friggin Atari joystick. Man I hate that character.

Iyo’s reaction is what makes him the best in the world. He almost never made a mistake, like we all do (Including other top players like Mochi, PPN, Sabin).

I think Iyo practice so hard , you can tell he reacts the moment when his opponent did something, its godlike.

Next, tell us about Dhalsim’s adjustments.

Okada:
The character who won the first national tournament. Dhalsim is a character where the players have found a lot of really interesting ways to use him, which surprised even us. But his overall damage output was kind of low, so the reward for reading your opponent wasn’t that great. So if the player wasn’t exceptionally skilled, there were many rough spots in using him. Although there was the thought that if we made him stronger in Super Street Fighter 4, those who were already good with him would just be even better, but as we wanted a wide range of Dhalsim players to be able to enjoy him more, we decided to give him some improvements.

Sano:
Isn’t he the only character who hasn’t has some kind of numerical reduction?

Okada:
Yeah, I think we talked about this the last time, but in order to increase the number of turns in a fight* we’ve reduced the damage output in general for all characters - all except for Dhalsim. His damage was low to begin with. Also, we’ve slightly increased his counter attacks. Since Dhalsim is a character who has difficult normals and trouble with footsies in close, we’ve improved his throw, and made his Drills better, which many people wanted. So for the Dhalsim players who felt like they lost once their opponent got in close, in Super Street Fighter 4 I think that will be a better fight for you.

(*Azrael’s note: In the last blog they mentioned making the game so that if you read your opponent twice, you would probably win - they were adjusting SSF4 to increase this number, so “turns” probably refers to this.)

Many people wanted the his Yoga Fire to be sped up…

Okada:
We haven’t changed the speed of Yoga Fire, but EX-Yoga Fire now goes full-screen, so you can pressure people from areas you couldn’t before now.

What type of move is his new ultra, Yoga Shangri-la?

Okada:
Yoga Shangri-la is a move that can be used during Dhalsim’s unique jump arc. As its for grounded use, it won’t throw an airborne opponent, but its really good when used with his teleport. To put it simply, Yoga Castastrophe is a move for starting an attack string, while Yoga Shangri-la is a move for ending one.

Sano:
The hitbox for Yoga Shangri-la is pretty big, and sort of similar to the headbutt Drill. So its difficult for an opponent to tell in an instant whether Yoga Shangri-la or Headbutt Drill is coming, and that adds some variation to his attack patterns.

Improved drills? Full screen EX fireball? Improved throw frames? No scaled damage whatsoever unlike ALL OTHER 34 characters?

We’re finally going to be rewarded, I think… no mention in the article about up-flame or EX up-flame, but here’s hoping. =)

jeez i wouldn’t get too excited lol. I’ll wait to see what they mean by improving the drills. They could just mean more damage. It could be nice. EX flame is another thing that is nice but not terribly necessary. It’s a once in a blue moon move. Better throw is the one thing I am happy about whether it’s more range or more damage, as well as the indirect damage increase.

agreed, but what i thought was real smart was he did jump back b.mp, im trying to add that to the game now

yea im takin the wait and see approach, excited for u2, and also excited he doesnt seem to be worse in anyway (in the old build i was told s.fp got slightly shorter, had a heart attack) but everything seems to be ok and im still hyped for new sim

j.mp is gdlk. Works great against ex rainbow roll too. Comes out (relatively) quick with great active frames.
