wakeup teleports and reversal backdashes mean youre scared. of course sometimes i have to do a wakeup tp or backdash to get out of close range, since im just guessing at that range but i try to avoid it
players like daigo can smell fear and besides hurricane kicks own those up anyways. youre better off standing your ground and trying to push them away as opposed to escaping, losing more control of the screen and putting yourself at risk.
because i was breaking throws all day and its just worth it to go for ex tatsu mixups instead to try to punish crouch techs. i just managed to guess right most of the time.
yeah ill do anything to get out of close range pretty much since that is a losing battle for the most part.
and as you can see he adjusted someties by punishing me with super, tatsu, etc.
crouch teching is not a good idea, youre still putting yourself at risk esp against ryu
but i mean, sometimes its all youve got cause he sucks at close range. but yea, vulnerable to staggering of blockstrings that lead into sim getting counterhits.
of course i crouch tech, i just guessed right when i was in close.
reason that i crouch and stand is cause i want to be able to walk backward haha.

Here’s two matches with a good Fei from the Frosty Faustings tourney last saturday. After watching these vids I realize I jump way too much but I think I did alright. However I dare not show any of the mirror matches where Chat destoryed me that’s a match i need to learn.
Nice Sim, Konkrete!
You jumped a lot, but it was effective and you won the match convincingly… so, like, maybe you don’t just “way too much” at all. Haha. One thing I can suggest about playing this matchup is using s.short and c.jab. They shut down some of Fei’s dangerous options and help like whoa if you’re interested in standing your ground.
Chat’s Sim is nasty in the mirror! It’s a match I really need to learn too. I thought I had a strategy, but I recently lost a Sim v. Sim money match and realized I donno SHIT.
The one thing I didn’t do at all at first in the mirror was use AA’s when he was IATing and it really hurt me, and because I didn’t respect the power of sim’s AA’s I got hit with them a lot. I think that alone would have at least netted me a round
Thanks Arturo for your reply
I can summarize you can’t use always the same tattic/strategy or a good/pro player will punish you. Change your choose and try guess right lol
How about the chars with a special grab like Abel / Fei / Gief?
You cannot block crouched too much. Do you use back dash/TP back/jump frequently in the two previous situations?
Damn Konkrete. Chicago has 2 sim mains? Lucky bastards. I’ve never met another Sim main in person and I go to every ranbat and local tournament. I would love to get a good hour or two of mirror match training in. I feel like I have a fairly strong sim (these days) if you guys want to get some of that kind of practice in.
Where ou live? I can add you.
And he lives in Detroit iirc, so the midwest has two :0
Yup, you do. You ousted me in Championship Mode a few weeks back
I hate Sim mirrors to be honest with you It’s a huge guess-what-he’s-gonna-do-next festival, with LOTS of IATs and standing normals. shrugs Gives you a good outlook though as to why other players hate playing him so much lol…
This is what I thought until I played said money match and dude straight up zoned me out. It’s actually not a guessing game at all (unless you consider Street Fighter as a whole a guessing game). I think it’s the craziest footsies matchup in all of SF4, because it’s a shitload of pokes and counterpokes from like, half sceen.
Chat, lets get in the lab on this mirror. I got some science I wanna try and apply!
Couple matches from a tourny - Give me some feedback, always looking to improve.
(vs akuma) -ended up doing a super instead of an ultra in second round wasting meter
(vs ryu)
(vs Bison) - match i gave away, for some reason I thought he was gonna land in front of my ultra
(Vs Bison)
Ya, Andy I’m always on and Shawn I sent you a friend request to practice as well, I think we all neglect to learn our own characters in match-ups
Vs Bison learn to use b.lk xx yoga fire after blocking a scissor lk, or he’ll loop you.
Another useful thing is to punish any punch stomp with hk slide (great damage).
Ok, so I’m trying to learn Sim after playing Rufus for some time. Could you guys point out some of the stupid sh*t I’m doing? Keep in mind though, I’m very new to Sim, so be nice :P. Don’t forget to mention obvious mistakes though, they might not be so obvious to me. (and don’t bother to watch my other vids, my Rufus isn’t anything special either)

Keine, you aren’t as bad as you played yourself up to be. The biggest problems I see are match-up specific. Don’tescape blanka’s rainbow rolls, focus them. balrog escapes fireball iat setups too easy so don’t abuse them. Don’t panic jump against gief and learn how to punish lariat.
Also, some overall things I saw was random supers. imo just don’t do that, his super is his best tool and it shouldn’t be used unless you know you’ll land it. You try walkup throw which worked but I’d stay away from it. Stay away from iat’s without a fireball unless you are punishing, that guess is not in your favor.
And finally, just get better execution, you dropped a few combos here and there but you are not looking bad. At the same time learn the range of b.mk xx flame because whiffing that could get you killed. Use b.mk xx fire or just stop at the mk
oh, and learn his other normals because there are just as usefull. Don’t coun’t out standing lk mp and mk just because standing fp is good damage.
Good shit, Keine.
So, first of all, theres a bunch of matchup specific shit that you just don’t know yet. I’m gonna skip over that stuff.
One thing you gotta watch is teleporting in. You don’t need to teleport in on Blanka/Boxer (or ANYONE) all the time. They need to get in on you, and you need to keep them out. By teleporting in recklessly, you’re just furthering BLANKA’S/BOXER’S goal. Don’t get into the habit of teleporting wildly, it’ll fuck your Sim in the long-run.
Second, you’re still at the point where you only know how to control your opponent at full-screen. What that means is, you only really know how to use your s.fierce poke. That’s a great start because it prolly is your most important poke. But you gotta know how to use your other pokes as the spacing changes throughout the match. At close and mid-range, you didn’t really defend yourself.
Just keep playing and experimenting!
You may just want more experience with the character match ups and perhaps try out your other poke options other than fierce. Like at mid-range, maybe 1-3 light kick pokes are good if they try focus dashing against your fierce attacks since you’ll have good recovery. There’s a ton of info on these boards already if you don’t know how to deal with certain moves. Yoga tower for example can be really good against Balrog if he tries to rush you down with a charge punch cause they will usually either end up behind you, or whiff the low hitting punches (depending on how far away you are, usually close to 3/4 away, though prepare to block if he’s jumping). And never attack a balrog up-close on wake up and try to bait out certain moves.
Experiment a lot and you’ll do great :]!
That looks very similar to me after I swapped Gief for Sim, its weird to properly get used to the idea “enemy close = you shafted” after playing a high hp close combat monster. Only things I would suggest are: Getting a better idea of the minimum safe ranges/times to throw fireballs that wont get them jumped and you combo’d - If you played vs many sims with your Rufus im sure you will be able to remember what happens after a fireball gets jumped or ex-messiahed or whatever.
Being willing to IAT Gief is a sign that you need to IAT less, but it is a good way to practice IAT. Be careful you dont make any bad habits, learn when it will be safe to do and if its not safe, how big is the gamble? (dhalsim generally is more empirical than the rest of the cast)
I can tell you have at least been reading up, so I tried to keep my advice personal and not regurgitate stuff.
Thanks guys! I appreciate every bit of advice.
PajaroMayor (Dhalsim) vs. TMNTemps (Abel)

very nasty Dhalsim IMO. I won this one but he won the set 8-2.
Also, be careful with your ultra. I’m glad I recorded this

Pajaro is a beast. I’ve watched many of his XBL replays, even saved a few. Was glad to see that I’m not the only one who accidentally misses the BnB combo from time to time by ending with an up-flame instead of a lp yoga flame. haha.
