Can someone explain what happened at the end of the Iyo/Fuudo match? Right at 1:28 where Fuudo waits for Sim to wake up and then does an EX Tatsu? That’s gotta be some option select trickery that I’m not aware of, cause when I’m in the corner and Ryu does a wake up EX Tatsu on me, I will eat it if I do ANYTHING other than just block.
I’ve watched it like 10 times and still can’t make out what happened.
It looks to me like it might’ve been d.b+Jab…
Yo guys one thing I know Iyo does that you guys should start doing…
Iyo is option selecting his far st. LK limbs (and probably his other limbs).
He hits st. LK and then b.MP with a certain timing. If his st. LK whiffs it most likely means the opponent jumped so he will recover quickly and b.MP the jump automatically. If his st. LK is blocked he will not b.MP.
if I FA the fireball the fireball dissapears and Ryu can throw another one instantly. if I tower it the fireball is on screen a tad bit longer and ryu has to pause his fire balling. also I was trying to get into st.hp range and backdashing would then be counter productive.
if you’re refering to the tower at 0:20 something, you can actually see ryu doing a qcf followed by a standing jab. that would have been a hadouken if I’d use FA. then from the momentum I got 2 lk.slides.

to me it seems more logical to just react to the whiff, which shouldn’t be hard. sounds like the b.mp could come too early if you do this all the time, not to mention the fact you might get random b.mps because your opponent backdashed, neutral jumped or jumped back.
Option selecting limb pokes 0.0 … Why did i just buy a new stick >.> So basically a connected standing lk will cancel out back strong. Iyo also knows how to cancel short slide into fierce fire in combo.
Cancelling short slide into a fierce fire or super is pretty basic stuff no? I would think it should be in any sim player’s arsenal, even if they don’t use it very often.
Lately when fighting close quarters I’ve been cancelling short slide into teleports, both back and opposite side if I’m feeling saucy. After a quick flurry of b+lk and short slides I’ll cancel the last one into a teleport to get away. And cancelling into fierce fire is something I’m doing more and more. This is especially good to do after you’ve done short slide into throw a few times, as they will be trained to try and tech the throw, but will instead be knocked down by the fierce fire.
I like the idea of canceling into teleports. although I’d try to use b.mk just for the sake of ease.
And short slide xx hp fire can combo if the slide counterhits and you are close, but slide xx super always combos.
I’ve been seeing many short slide, yoga flame tick throw mixups lately, but since to my knowledge that doesn’t combo, it can be countered out right, and you do run the risk of taking damage for, unless you have super stocked, a connected yoga flame knockdown. I don’t use it often. It is a very useful technique though. Short slide hit confirm super is one of my staples, but i’m not a fan of short slide flames. What i’m speaking on is this video where Iyo short slides into a fierce yoga fire on wakup for a 2 hit combo. He does it at the :50 mark. It’s a pretty quick cancel.

Wow, I just now watched all the vids at the top of the page, thought I’d already seen’em. Some serious trickery for all of us Sims to pick up on. Yeah, the 2 hit slide xx fireball combo only seems to happen as a counter. Let’s hope they make the frames quick enough to make it a viable combo for SSF Speaking of which, I cannot WAIT to see what tweaks they give Sim.
I play an aggressive Dhalsim (which is why I suck), and it’s very much a ‘viable combo’ in my game. I use it as part of a short slide mix-up:
short slide xx throw
short slide xx fierce fireball
short slide xx teleport
What inputs are y’all using for short slide teleport?
In my experience short slide throw usually get’s me punished, and
short slide fire usually ends up trading.
