The vids Nem posted were of a ryu in our tournament who basically is random + aggressive, felt like I forgot how to play first few matches.
I ended up learning how to deal with him but I made some seriously funny blunders early on - had to concentrate and realize it’s just certain set moves he’s using (air tatsu over and over + srk on random?) . The srk’s prevented me from zoning him in an orthodox manner, had to go with just AAs galore so i wouldn’t get srk’d everytime i poked. The air tatsus…i tried to AA them - but sometimes he’d get me, sometimes he wouldn’t. I should have slid under them but he did it at such weird ranges / moments that I just didn’t slide and kept thinking “wtf?”. I’ve never come across a ryu that air tatsu’d this much lol. I barely threw fireballs because of the aggressive nature. I even forgot to block low because I was still processing what the hell was going on, he took advantage of that until I calmed down later and won the set. Also it’s a tournament and even if it’s online it’s still nerve wracking in the beginning.

Pretty cool watching someone adapt to a difficult strategy and eventually beating it. It’s even cooler when the opponent is forced to use another character.

Wow tomle, I really like your match against Geif. Nice use of j.HK! Does it take long to learn the timing of that or is it pretty much guarenteed if you press it as youre about head height?

If you aim for the head, you pretty much hit gief for free when he lariats.

That was not a good gief at all (no offense against your sim tomle you did what was needed for the victory and that’s all anyone can ask for)
Against low level giefs that j.hk/j.mp works because they try and lariat everything. Sim’s floaty jump is very risky. Against a good gief those constant jumps will get punished hard, especially when you whiff, and its a wakeup guessing game for sim, which is always bad. A good gief doesn’t lariat at all, maybe only to punish teleports. He will see the pattern of your pokes and fires and ex greenhand through them and punish.
This is a difficult matchup, you can play the perfect round but one wrong move and it’s lights out.

just watched the first chun match nice 
carefulon giving up space to chun so easily, her only real threat to you is gettig you in the corner for big dmg. I saw you walking back alot and not pressing forward. until she has ultra try to keep ground.
when she gets ultra i like nuetral jump in this match after a chun fb. nice vid though
