Dhalsim Video Thread

You can counter DP+K!? Even if he presses K again for the Dive Kick? Cool! Thanks for that. I never knew that. And when you say instant jump do you mean IAT or j.MP?
Wow never knew that you can make Akuma’s HK whiff. Thanks for that.

I mean jump and b+hk as soon as you see him doing dp+K. Also j. b+mk or j.mp works, but b+hk does a GREAT damage (+25% of counter hit  You should do BEFORE he does the divekick. Probably it’s not so easy to do in real match :frowning:
Akuma can jump normally, or jump and air fire… so jumping and miss is not good for Sim.

In fact the problem is that you normally don’t have so much time to react. If you tried to b+HK (without jumping) you’ve to wait a little bit more than a normal jump-in… but if you fail you’ll probably lose half energy bar :frowning:
So it’s better to use a safe Blast EX, or b+hp (less risky than b+hk).

p.s: Akuma’s HK whiff it’s a GREAT discover! :wgrin:

Interesting Dhalsim versus Blanka video here:

I love the overhead, slide xx super combo.

The match after that is a real snoozer, but a good illustration of how to handle turtle Guile.

Very nice Dhalsim videos from the latest TRF tourney: http://blog-imgs-27.fc2.com/t/o/k/tokkablog/play.html?id=sm7625159

Dhalsim fights start at 9:06 against Fuerte, 14:40 against Ryu, and 18:55 against Akuma for the finals.

Dhalsim manhandles Ryu like a ragdoll, goes toe to toe with Akuma, and was close to being finished by Fuerte (until the Fuerte guesses wrong by not doing EX Guacamole to escape corner ultra).

First time I’ve seen that combo used, interesting option for those turtling after IAT?

Nice vids! I really like the overhead, slide xx super combo. What is the input for that?

Back+jab, down, toward, down+short, toward+p. You don’t have to do the short though, you can just link overhead to super as long as the opponent is crouching and it’s pretty easy to hit confirm.

I loved the fire-teleport setup combo. I always had weird angle/bounce happen on accident, never taken advantage of it like that. He uses it as an actual setup, which is totally sweet.

That Dhalsim rarely threw fireballs at Ryu. I should take note.

yeah, he rather tried to position himself where he can trade hadoukens with hp. it was really cool since it forced ryu to either do nothing, back up (corner, fuck yeah!) or advance. by throwing that little fireballs you’re not risking getting hit by tatsus or ex hadoukens either. I usually go to fireball wars with ryu’s, but i’ll definintely try this next time.

I’m also curious as to why he didn’t EX flame akumas EX demon flips? it seems to always win vs the EX version. was he simply saving meter?

nice Sim man!
your way to play is really smart and technical, I like your way to defense (you back dash a lot and use a lot of Tower) and zoning (s.lk, s.lp, s.mk) but I think you lack in punishing.

Akuma has a very low stamina but can do a lot of damage using flip kick combos.
That Akuma is also good in ultra/super setups and He jumps a lot.

Now my advices:

You should try to punish him with your best damage options and do not allow so much jumps.

When he does a flip kick, Teleport on get up is ok, slide under and try a grab is not safe and easy, I’ll do only when I’m cornered to escape. When you know he will flip, jump and hit him with j.b+lk (if you’re close) or j.mp / j.hp.

You rarely use s.HP when he’s far or do any bnb combo… remember that IAT, j.hp, b+hp xx flame EX will cost him almost 1/3 of his life!
When he do an air fireball just mk slide and see if you can grab him.

you should also punish his teleport (just learning the right time to do) or he can link ultra/super or do other stuff.

1:14:00 ish.

Who is this Sim player? I don’t have audio so if they say in the vid, sorry I can’t hear it.

That’s filipino champ. I’m with Sabin in that he teleports a bit too much. Champ did say that he was only teleporting to show off, but then i believe he puts himself in the corner against a Sagat player so… I’m a fan of the reflex defense style Sim ( like i play). My Style is deadly up close, but i believe that it’s absolutely needed. I use Lots of back light kicks, short slide, yoga flames when i get in close. I think Sabin, and Iyo are the best sims in the world. I think Iyo’s reflexes are better, but Sabin has better zoning.

I love how the commentator calls Yoga Tower a taunt! Just noticed it.

really crazy Sim hahaha
Fillipino champ’s play is funny as hell, but I don’t like his behaviour because IMHO
he’s not respecting his opponent.

I lost in the quarterfinals of Evo South America, to another Dhalsim (got really lost there, lost all 3 matches without winning a single round, I was eating lots and lots of IATs and I don’t know why, well I just played like crap).
Someone filmed the matches before that (before quarterfinals, and I don’t know the english word for that :P) that I won against an Abel/Ryu player, if anyone has any tips I’ll be grateful.

Mind you that our gameplay skill in Brazil is not even close to US/Japan, since we have no SF4 arcades and we basically just practice playing online against ourselves (we can’t play anyone other than other Brazilians because it’ll be a 1-bar match)

This is where i’m at right now pretty much. Nice usage of jumping mid punch, and in place teleports to bait out twitchy movement. Nice zoning of a pretty aggressive ken player. G1 champ mode.

This is my first G1 championship victory. Fighting a 41k Sagat player.

I think Champs SIM is better than Sabins SIM…IYO and Sabin arnt even in the same catagory… Just my opinion

Very nice strategy at 6:10.
Focus & dash back, shoruyken whiffs and super punishes

Balrog Vs Dhalsim video here, i’ve posted this in a new thread before seeing this one here.

But here’s the link:

Nice DomBomb…

I noticed that you use very little Yoga Fires for setups… Is there a reason for this?

I really liked how you Yoga Noogied the opponent and then jump over them to trick them into an attack and then ported back behind them. I gotta use that…

Nice zoning on the Ken player.

Never been asked that, or really thought about it. I guess it stems from my lower level aggressive Dhalsim play style. In that i didn’t mind being mid to even close range with my opponent. From there i used to use yoga fire to bait out jumps for easy ultra set ups. I’ll be honest after i reached G1 i noticed that my fireball spacing was pretty bad. So i found that using less of them ment less chances of eating a hurricane kick, FAD, or an ex fireball. Which will put you in the corner, on the ground. aka in some trouble. My style is to dodge fireballs, and attack with normals if i can, and then bait out jumps with fires for anti air, lk slide grabs, ultra, super, sniper, etc.

I’ll probably change this, because i don’t build meter as fast though. :frowning:

These are some Filipino champ videos from the nor cal 5 beat 5 quals. Hope he doesn’t mind me posting them.
