I play a more aggressive Sim, a lot of mid-range and up-close. But even though I’m successful(ish) online, I really want to take it back to basics and learn the sort of hardcore full-screen zone you’ve got going on.
Your videos are showing me the way. I especially like the way you’re not sitting on s.fierce, like so many scrubbier dhalsims – you’re heavy on s.strong and s.forward, and I think that’s awesome. Likewise, your j.strong pokes are so on point. And most of all, I’m jealous of your s.roundhouse game – I can’t seem to get familiar enough with it’s range, and I whiff on it more times than I land it.

I just want to add that I don’t stay that far away in every matchup. rufus is a character that can really rape you once he gets in therefore I tend to stay further away from him than most other chars. roundhouse is also a kind of character specific poke, I mostly use it on fat characters like rufus and gief.
Rufus is actually the easiest character to hit with Standing roundhouse as he hangs in the air usually when doing dive kicking mix-ups…coupled with the fact that most Rufus players love jumping from middle screen which is the roundhouses perfect range.
Generally though, I agree with you. Ever tried hitting a jump happy blanka with standing roundhouse? Its a nightmare. Better off using back RH and back MP I find as the standing RH is just too slow out the gate to counter blanka’s insane jump game.
of course, but it’s all a guessing game. I think you can cr.mp the divekick but that loses to throws, you can try to jump and teleport/hit rufus and that loses to hp and j.hk. and any button press loses p EX messiah.

Option select crouch tech plus strong like ultradavid said is good. Ex upflame is good too.
If the matches ever go online check the 4 games I played sin @ sbo quals to see how rufus is dealt with. I lost 1 game out of 4 though.
I love how the only matches on youtube from the denjin quals are me vs combofiend in the first set and me vs sin (the game where I lose). None of the matches where I run a train thru california with sim are online but the vids of me getting beasted are quick to go up. Meanwhile they are posting up vids from the last ai ranbat and seem to have forgotten all about sbo quals. Where’s joes perfect vs valle? Where is my double ocv vs Somuchdamage and moval? Cali hypocrisy @ its finest as usual. Of course they will claim otherwise

Rufus for some reason is my best matchup . I have about an 88% win rate on him. He just can not get anywhere near me, and when he does i teleport away. He can’t walk in. . He definitely can’t jump in. I just have his number i guess. GT 15400. I’m poor now so no capture card.

Neat Sim! No biggie on the execution, when I’m slumping – like, um, my last few days – fireballs come out fierce punch and ultras come out teleports. Ha. If I could suggest anything, perhaps you might want to learn your ‘safe’ ranges a little better! There were a bunch of moments in the videos where your Fire got jumped or Demon Flipped on reaction, and you end up eating it. Sim has low life to begin with, might as well do your damndest to preserve every bit of it…
You have a similar issue that I have, and it’s not character specific. It’s the old issue of “I have Ultra, there for I must use Ultra. Now”. Luckily you’re better than me so it’s just a wasted Ultra, and not a tottal detraction.
Learn to punish his dp+k jumps… instant jump and b+hk it’s a good counter.
Another important thing: If you’recrouched and you block the double HK kick, remember that the second one will miss you, and you get a free combo! Try to use bnb combo or b+hp xx flame ex on reaction
