Those frame data changes are mostly intended to make Sim’s normals safer. So like with making his down-back sweep recover 4 frames faster, that’s enough to make it safe unless you’re doing it point blank, which is a pretty significant change. All Sim needs are minor changes imo. He needs more than a few of them, but I don’t think any individual change to him should be very big.
Hurricane kicks aren’t technically invincible to projectiles, they just go over most. High Tiger shots (and I believe Gouken’s fireball) will hit it. It’s just ridiculous that Dhalsim’s flame (which already has next to no use in this game) should get beat by hurricanes. Flame has always beat hurricane in previous games so explain to me the train of thought that made the designers decide to remove that?
The move is slow as shit in this game (even the jab version), so you can’t use it on reaction. You would already need to be psychic to use it as anti HK so what’s the harm? Worse still HK coasts right over Yoga catastrophe? I mean come on that’s just moronic. There’s not one good reason not to give both these moves a bigger hitbox.
It’s always such a shame reading good ideas on here this late in the development, because I know there’s probably not a chance that any of these ideas getting implemented
you know, that didn’t make sense at all. why would it be worse to beat air normals instead of trading with them?
dhalsim is pretty good how he is, he can still zone pretty well. if i would like 1 thing changed it would be a tweak to his drills. make them a little bit more useful like they were in ST.
Because the ultra is so slow, you have to do it very early to make sure it comes out before they land. But when you get hit by a jump attack, they pause in the air, giving the fireball more time to become active. If ultra was invincible, jump attacks would fall right through a lot of the time.
Remove the ability to quick recover from FA. I’m talking about how if you just let them fall without hitting them during crumple stun, they can quick recover. This would be a system-wide change obviously. If it wasn’t for that, Sim could set up a fireball-teleport for when they wakeup. He can still do it but not quite reliably.
Yeah, I kinda figured that unfortunately. But hey, maybe they’ll be able to squeeze in a couple of simple changes, or at least have some ideas for a future revision.
So what about his new ultra here: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-features-super-street/60457
Think it’s a 1 frame startup like Geif’s current Ultra? It looks pretty damn fast…
It’s finally here! WACKY WAVING INFLATABLE TUBE MAN ULTRA?!!!
new ultra is lulz
I hope it’s good because I want to subject people to watching that as much as possible.
dhalsim and his new ultra lamo
Things to note, if you go slowly you see he’s in the air on start up, and Blanka is grounded. Sim is slightly outside Blanka’s stand jab range and at roughly half jump height on the way down.
Now for conjecture outside of solid proof from the video. Do we think he can do it out of an IAT? Can he do it only while falling, or at any point in his jump? If they’re not holding up until after the ultra freeze starts does it hit? What kind of damage will it do? Depending on these factors he could actually have some scary mix up at mid range against a lot of characters, mixing up between j-fierce from the right, from the left, ultra, and land. This doesn’t seem like a traditional tool for Dhalsim but it could still be excellent depending on exactly how it works.
The main question Is can it hit after a IAT, and will it grab both grounded and air opponents
That would mean no more getting jabbed out of the backdoor IAT due to the danger on opponents…they’d much rather get the hell out of there than pop sim out of the air and rush him down, this gives him breathing room and also makes him pretty hard to approach straight on.
Yeah if he can land it out of IAT that mixup becomes so dangerous.
If I had to guess it’ll only do grounded opponents just by the way it looks and you wouldn’t want to give him a command grab that dominates all space infront of him, high and low, that might just be too much. And I’m thinking of his old command grab super from alpha and relating it to this one in terms of it’s limits.
@The Dark Phoenix: If it grabs aerial opponents too that would be broken, characters without solid reversals such as Gaugeless Fuerte, or even Gaugeless boxer would be thrown clean each time. Anyone without EX messiah/EX shoryu would be screwed if that were the case, and since it’s around poking range for a lot of melee characters that means he would have guarenteed damage a lot of the time, it would be like FAB grabbing out of the air, can’t have it. XD
@Angry Yoga: You could still be jabbed out of IAT just the same unless they made IAT 0 frames recovery. It does mean that if they’re in block stun (Certain yoga fire set ups.) until the point you are free to do things jabbing would be a little more risky.
Anyone consider the new ultra may be tied to a teleport? I.e. you perform the ultra and 'sim teleports to range and attempts the grab… if you could do it with Punch or Kick to vary the side…
Well, seth did say sim would be top tier. I can see it with that ultra and iat.
Dhalsim will finally be top tier? About fucking time.
