Also can we talk about anti-airs and when to use them?
I know of back jab, standing strong, crouching strong, back fierce and fireball. I seem to be struggling when they get close and jump in. They end up going over standing strong, crouching strong misses badly, back fierce is too slow and back jab is so fast i may need to work on timing.
I always position myself correctly for one of them to work, I mostly try to stay in perfect range for a crouching strong. If they’re jump-happy I let them get in position for me to back fierce crush counter xx EX-fireball for big damage, but you need some level of anticipation for it to connect since it’s so slow. If I feel my timing and positioning is off I just do a slide cross-under as a backup. standing back-strong has a great hitbox too, works on a wide range of scenarios I’ve found. I should probably do more anti air jabs.
jab as anti-air is so good I rarely do anything else eventhough it’s not always the best. Also if they are trying to crossup and you’re not confident with your jab, just slide under, it’s a better option than blocking.
Jeez the motion for instant air gale is crazy. Half circle back to upforward. So this is why people are saying Sim is the most technical character in the game.
from forward clockwise all the way to uf? i mean it’s really only taking out 2 inputs at most and most of the time you’re going to get an up in there when you go to uf
Is there ever a reason to use jumping MK?
I used to love the j.MK in SF4 for its range and angle but in this one…what is the use? It looks like, they block it - you get punished, they get hit - you still get punished because you have to be close for it to connect.
I find myself using it all the time as a spacing tool after I activate v-skill. People like to dash under the v-skill and get hit by it a lot. It can also work as a sniper.
His overall gameplan feels weak. No horizontal fireball except when you have an EX bar hurts a lot. Also, his reach seems shorter this time around. I don’t know, I feel REALLY bad for Dhalsim players. I hope it’s just me not knowing how to play him properly in V.
He’s far from weak man. He doesnt play lame as some would say or even keep away any more. You can play aggressive and zone a little. And if you don’t play aggressive you’re going to lose because your opponent is going to put you in stun mode.
He’s pretty good in the game but you have to play him different. And as with any version of Sim, you need to know your ranges and what normals to use at what time.
I’m starting to consistently get TK gale on P1 side, but I’m still having trouble doing it on P2 side. I also can’t get it to combo from EX Flame. In number notation, it’s more or less 632149.
You know which inputs feel really strict? Drills. I have no idea why, but you absolutely need to be holding 2 down directly to get the drill to come out. Diagonals won’t work. It’s similar to how Fang’s small poison balls don’t come out unless you strictly tap 8 (up) at the end.
I find it’s useful during a Float (v-skill) for low profiling opponents right below you. Not the best normal to throw out there, but it has its uses.
Yeah, I do it how we used to have to do SPDs, except I delay the button input slightly. I just feel like the full 360 is (for me) the easiest way to get the IAT Gale.
As far as Sim being weak I don’t really agree, but it may be too early to say. I think his playstyle has changed a lot. In fact, I’d honestly say he has some of the best oki in the game.
Interesting. I have no problem with the IAG…even figured out the EX thing pretty quick. Oh, I’m so glad he is difficult. It makes this old man’s hands feel young again
IAT is giving me a hard time, I am actually playing Survival and solely working on my teleport game/execution. Not even close to there yet.
Dhalsim seems pretty good in this game. He has damage if you have a teleport combo game, use EX proper, and combo into V-Trigger ASAP. I haven’t spent much time splaying ranked though…the servers Kappa
