Dhalsim General Thread: The Longer it Gets, the Harder it Hits

It worked well for me as an anti air but thats all I could find so far. Don’t know if any SF4 style catastrophe teleport shenanigans will be possible in this game as the ball moves so slow in the air and its much harder to get people knocked down for long enough to get a meaty hit with it.

Is wakeup super a good option? Or can it be thrown out of etc?

For the critical art i notice that when people see you getting ready they instantly back away. I end up using the fierce button and holding it until you can hold it no longer. Now it goes all the way to the other side. This forces them now to block, which allows you to get in position where they want to jump at you or they now have to block. You can them attack low or try other shenanigans.

And yes it is a good anti-air as others have mentioned.

With Sunburst, you can still use fire and flame while it’s on screen. So, say you’re full screen and you do hp.fire> hp/mp/lp.SB> lp.fire to try and setup a trap.

Cool thing about Sunburst is that the air version moves much slower and has a different trajectory to the grounded version. You can insta air SB to change up the timing. Sim either says, “The Power!” or, “A Miracle!” depending on air or ground version.

You can setup some panic moments with Gale xx Sunburst. Say you get a CCH hk.slide. You can then do either a meaty IAG or IAT > Gale xx Sunburst. When that giant fireball is slowly falling, you have several options which are: high/low mixup; drill pressure; baiting reversals; TP mixups; throw; hp.flame; lp.fire; IAG; VT. There’s a lot you can do in that situation. This of course is contingent on what character you’re playing against and their options to deal with the CA startup.

Hp.Gale combos into Sunburst.

There’s also the Hail Yoga. At the Apex of Sim’s jump you do Sunburst, charged or not. It goes off screen and from there you can try to setup a trap.

I have a question. I’m noticing people throw a fireball with Sim and then follow up with another where the next sequence they teleport behind the opponent. Are they coming off the ground and then teleporting? It’a hard to tell. You can see what I’m talking about at 1:32 - 1:36 for example.

Thanks

Yes, it’s called an IAT (Instant Air Teleport). You do it by inputting the teleport motion, jumping, and then hitting the activation buttons.

Thanks man. I know what I’ll be practicing.
But again do the motion, then jump and press buttons?

Wow seems like it has to be done very fast.

Much appreciated.

Yea, the motion is more like… f. d. df. uf. PPP.

There’s a delay between when you first jump and can actually activate the teleport, I believe. But, it’s very small. Then, you are also battling against the buffer timeout. So, you have to hit the activator buttons (PPP) AFTER the initial jump startup (i think) but hit PPP before the teleport motion is out of the buffer.

Ok. Thanks again man. I will be practicing this for sure.

Does Sim’s V-Skill allow him to do anything besides float for a short period of time?

I find the V-Skill the most exciting addition to Sim. He can directly attack out of it, including normals, the drills, and the mid-air yoga flame. He can super out of it. He can teleport out of it. It mixes up the timing a lot.

Opponents use to know that sim can instant air teleport… So, they’d watch for it.
They know that he could jump up and teleport during the jump arch, so they’d space accordingly.
Now, he can jump up… then choose to just hover… Then teleport, or drill down, or super.

I really love how it changes up the timing… It has always felt that Sim was very maneuverable. I feel like in SFV they took the maneuverability to the next level with the v-skill.

That’s super interesting. It does seem like a really good tool for mind games and messing up your opponent’s spacing. It’s probably not too bad for escaping, too. I’ll have to play around with him more. This is the first SF where I actually think I’m gonna pick up Sim.

You can simplify it, thanks to shortcuts. Forward, Down Forward, Up Forward, PPP. Skip the down completely.

Maybe this is a consequence of the game being so new, but I’ve been having loads of success with that Sim oki game

Picking up Street Fighter and decided to use Dhalsim. I see he has 4 different teleports… What are the differences between them? Only thing I got so far is DP forward punch puts you behind them, and kick puts you in front.

ARE YOU GUYS WATCHING FCHAMP PUTIN WORK RIGHT NOW OMG

Yeah, with no stupid focus, impatient people are going to have a rough time haha

Did you guys think it was only online what I was doing? Haha Fchamp showing of a lot of the tech I have gathered, but there is still more.

So glad that you picked up this technical character simsim

in other news, hitbox + frame data for 1.1 is out

Can someone explain to me vskill frame data?

Is jump > vskill a quicker option than raw vskill?
