Well, he was more implying that you have to crouch block at the exact instant of the grab, which is not true…firstly, it’s not just crouch blocking, you can go from crouch block back to standing…and it definitely does not have to be at the exact instant of the grab, and he didn’t mention anything about block animations.
Do we really want Hammer at JuareZ WarZone? According to Dune NO!!!
My youtube channel is DarkGeese Ruwaka.
TSF- Both of us are right, Alt Guard is good, but it’s also risky, you gotta know they are gonna do certain command grabs and it doesn’t work on all, and if I know you are gonna use that I’ll just regular grab you or hyperhop cross u up because the moment you tap downback you are vulnerable to hyperhop crossups.
Now onto another question- Do we really want Hammer at JuareZ WarZone??
Check this email Dune just sent me:
"Hi
Okay , I wiil tell Bata soon.
And , I will tell Tyapi and Oep that they can’t join the tournament on Feb 6-7th.
They hope that they can join it some day.
Japanese No.2 player in KOF2002?
In fact , Hammer isn’t strong very much in Japan.
About 100 players are stronger than him.
Best regards
Dune(??)"
This means contrary to popular belief, Hammer is not #2 in Japan right now in KOF 2002…
So bringing Bata would be better, as Dune tells us Tyapi and Oep are interested, and I have plans for them in the future…
Also I just had to read some of Emils posts (because I have him on ignore for obvious reasons) since people are gonna ask which of us is right…YOU CAN Alt Guard command grabs not all of them you have to know which ones.
Now if you all wanna keep the Theory Fighter going I’m gonna step out because once again while you all are gonna listen to Theory Fighter Guru, I’m out actually DOING STUFF, making stuff happen, and thus in turn my time is better served elsewhere planning tournaments than sitting on some forum listening to someone as stubborn as Emil even when the truth is placed in front of his face.
Also something else to comment since I had to read Emils post- If Alexis beats Esteban at JuareZ WarZone this is over…Alexis is better than Esteban…if Emil can’t accept that then we all know who’s in denial…we even know now who is in denial after Esteban got 4th place at that tournament.
Also do us all a favor Emil and stay away from my forum. Because if you stay here then we can stay away from each other, because I won’t be here nearly as much thus you can feel free to inundate people with your logic.

No noob, you can alternate guard ALL GRABS. These include one frame instant grabs, delayed grabs like O Yashiro/Vice hcf+P and Iori scumgale, autoguard delayed grabs like Daimon’s hcfx2+K, grabs such as O Yashiro qcb+P and Chris dp+P, as well as proximity grabs (Andy hcf+P and O Chris hcf+K) AND normal grabs (f/b+C or D).
Give me an example of a GRAB that cannot be alternate guarded. Obviously air grabs don’t apply…
Really, you should just stop posting about kof knowledge because you are seriously lacking in it.
Edit: Also, it was never popular belief that Hammer was #2. If you took that from my list of top rated players, you forgot to read the part on that list where I mentioned that is it pretty much impossible to rate players like that when they are so high up there and there’s so many of them…most of those players I considered tied, and the list was never to be taken as fact at all…and it was also based only on the players I knew, which I also stated.
I’ve seen you throw around that “top player is #2 or #4 or whatever” crap and it’s stupid.
Also, how does Esteban getting 4th place, show I’m in denial about Alexis being better than Esteban? You really know very very little about how to judge who is better, and tournament play is very misleading. I’ve even seen you go as far as to compare the skill of two players from tournament results when the two players never even played each other.
You’re doing a pretty good job of filling your posts with misleading/incorrect statements.
Lol, regular grabs don’t beat alternate guard…if a regular grab is alternate guarded, the result is a C or D coming out…same goes with alternate guarding proximity grabs. And the comment about the hyper hop crossup is silly, as if hyper hop crossups are so instant that by the time I change my block direction to try to alternate guard, I’d be hit by a hyper hop crossup…your statement is whack, it actually shows you have pretty bad reaction ability if you cannot block a hyperhop crossup correctly while you are alternate guarding…The only reason I’d be hit by a hyper hop crossup while I’m alternate guarding, is because I’d have to make the correct judgement of how to block, it has nothing to do with the fact that I’ve been alternate guarding.
let me get this straight…
so a 98UM 2009 US Champion (Raging Storm 2009) doesn’t know what alternate guard is but someone that only plays online and never plays in any tournament knows?
sigh Yes, that is what is going on here. Just because Emil plays online doesn’t mean he has no idea what he’s talking about. Not every online player is like some of the crap players you find in SFIV online.
I might have to get online and get schooled by Emil in some 2K2.
Emil knows his KOF, but he doesnt know anything else. I don’t care for this argument and neither does Lecter etc, matter of fact Lecter truly doesn’t give a damn. Also I never said Emil doesn’t know what he’s talking about in regards to KOF, he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about in regards to tournaments and the scene. He knows nothing about stuff actual tournament players know about, such as handling pressure, and other things. Lecter even told me last night how in the hell does Emil know Esteban is better than Alexis IF HE DOESNT LIVE THERE/TRAVEL THERE ETC?
And he makes a valid point…someone that lives in Juarez, Mexico and runs all tournaments there (Lecter), has like 1000x more credibility than some Esteban/Japanese fanboy in Canada that couldnt even go play when he (lecter) was two hours away from him in Canada.
Ismael beat Esteban in the local tournament, and Alexis beat Ismael. As I said before, all this ends in 2-3 weeks…Then if you all wanna entertain Emil’s nonsense, go right ahead but please dont even think about bringing it to my site.
It’s stupid stuff like this that Emil thinks that pretty much KILLS all of the good stuff he has to offer. Like I have said to even Lecter, Emil knows his KOF. But when it comes to APPLYING THAT TO REAL LIFE, HE KNOWS NOTHING. All he knows is as far as his CPU and sitting home will teach him, and don’t get me wrong it’s a lot, as I say he knows his KOF, but anything that can be taught OUTSIDE the house, as me, Lecter, and PLENTY others have said (remember Lecter is one of his friends), HE KNOWS NOTHING.
And yes we are gonna bring Bata to the tournament…so more Exhibitions etc.
Hatred Edge- What you must realize is that Emil is somewhat of a poster boy for online players…he makes online players look bad. So sure they may not be like SFIV players, but there are a lot like Emil that think they know more than anyone in the world that doesn’t have Asian blood. He makes online players look bad, thats what online players must realize. If I was a serious online player the last person I’d wanna associate myself with is Emil…
Of course I do, since I follow the tournaments and scenes…however, your projections from tournaments are faulty and misleading.
Huh? Handling pressure is not just a fighting game thing…it’s accompanied with practically any task. I don’t need to be a fighting game player to understand how to handle pressure, but either way it’s irrelevant to the discussion.
Dude, you cannot make projections like that, especially at that kind of level. Firstly, X beating Y and Y beating Z, doesn’t necessarily mean X will beat Z…and secondly, just beating them doesn’t prove they are better. You have to observe the gameplay, what both players know and don’t know, how well they execute, and their level of selfawareness and creativity…and speaking of which, it is very hard to rate players based on those standards in really high level of play because they are practically equal in categories. This is why I rarely make statements like “Hammer is better than Oogosho”, but it’s pretty easy to say that Hammer is better than Alexis or whatever mexican, aside from maybe Abraham.
In the end DG, you’re just mad because I called you out on the noob that you are in some of those other threads, as well as exposing your propaganda, lies and exaggerations.
wow. lets get back to it.
Any vids of Alt. Guarding?
These vids aren’t the best quality but you should get an idea of how it works. One thing to note is that you must be in blockstun first (the AG motion will keep you there until you stop), which means it can’t be used to defend against things like empty jump into grab.

Emil’s description is correct, alternate guard beats all grabs and command unblockables.
you don’t even need to have been in blockstun, just something that puts you in the block animation. like holding back in front of a whiffed attack.
All right to change the subject:

I’ve gotten all my equipment in except the pull down screens for my projector (that I have) and my Macbook. I have a total of 5 digital cameras, and my HD HDD Camcorder just came in (80 GB) so I have enough to ensure high quality matches are captured the way I want them to be.
The MacBook won’t be in prior to my trip to Juarez this weekend, as it arrives Friday and I’ll be in Juarez Friday. So the next batch of matches will either be casuals between me and Mar to test it out, test out the HD HDD Camera, and then we will move forward for JuareZ WarZone.
Thanks Remxi.
So does KOF XII have Alt. Guarding?
There’s no need in KOFXII…command grabs are almost useless in KOFXII, so no need to use that to stop them. In the newer games like KOFXI Alt. Guard was removed.
EDIT: I need feedback on this video right here:

Thanks,
DG
Why do you have to bring one or the other? Get everyone you can.
Dune is probably a better overall kof player, but ET is crazy at kofxi and kof2k2UM. Bring anyone. Also I don’t know who that video is really directed to, because not many people in the US(or Mexico) know anything about Dune. Not many even know ET for that matter…
It’s up to you DG. I’d love to see both at the tourney. Cant wait for RSM(RagingStormMiami!).
How about some side by side vids of each?
I will be using both the HD HDD CamCorder and the 5 Digital Cameras and then I will also be using a feed on the MacBook that should be quite superior to the one on the old laptop I have right now. I’ll be in Mexico tomorrow using the HD HDD Camcorder for documentary footage and having some of them using it in conjunction with one digital camera and then trying to decipher whether we want all casuals on the old feed and then the tournament matches to be with the HD HDD etc…
Pretty much most of the footage in Juarez this time will be a test for future events. (Except anything filmed on the laptop, it won’t be, won’t have the MacBook in until when I get back from Juarez, Mexico)
Sorry I meant both ET and Dune.
Your new camcorder is superior to the others.
Well Dune more than likely won’t be able to go as he said he doesn’t know if he can get off work in enough time for Raging Storm El Paso, so we are shooting for ET. I’m in Phoenix right now waiting for my connecting flight to go to El Paso in about an hour. After that the next time I post up will be because I’m headed back home.
Okay everyone just got back from Juarez, Mexico and as a quick highlight- Everyone has levelled up quite a bit in KOFXI since the El Paso tournament. I mean seriously like everyone is about even. A True Super Bowl didn’t happen, just a local tournament with a lot of twists and turns in KOFXI.
Now to the good stuff- I talked with Lecter, Hugo, Ismael, Alexis, Joel, and others for a good hour plus yesterday and you will see the footage. To clarify this stupid debate on Alternating Defense, Lecter told me PERSONALLY that Esteban does Alternating Guard all the time, but he doesnt think Alt. Guard is that good/safe thus they don’t use it that much. The rest were doing the motions there too going from downback to back etc just to show they know about it. I got a lot of casuals at the Plaza de Las Americas of everyone including Lecter playing. Esteban wasn’t there but so what we all covered a lot. We mentioned Emil’s name A LOT, telling him to come down to Juarez. Everyone in Juarez all agrees Emil just simply doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about!
More: We will have Kula and Abraham at JuareZ WarZone, (Who Juarez says are the best 2 in Mexico right now, with Kula being BETTER THAN ABRAHAM, Abraham’s style being flashier, but Kula wins more) and we will have a Tournament of Champions w/Bata after the tournament only between the top four in 2002. Also now we got Kane9999 vs. Kula confirmed in KOFXI, and now Juarez is a 5 man strong city in KOFXI I assure you, Fory is a force to be reckoned with, so is Kira, Xame, Rodo, Beto and myself. So thats five people close to the same level in Juarez in KOFXI as you can probably tell from the videos, they’ve levelled up quite a bit!
