Dexter Season 8, The End is inevitable

Like everyone else, I’m hoping the obvious route of Dr. Vogel being the killer is either a red herring or only a small part of the overall arc.

I don’t think the show will swerve us. Remember how obvious the sixth sense thing with Travis was?

Well blame the Sixth Sense for that but yeah. And they still could’ve pulled it off…if they didn’t make Travis a generic killer immediately after the reveal. “Oh, my mentor is dead and I’m hallucinating him? Well so much for not wanting to kill people, I’ll embrace it”.

That season…so…fucking…terrible.

As of now, swerve or no swerve we’re still in the dark about a lot of things. They can go plenty cliche and obvious as long as they really bring it on the motive.

That’s what always bugged me about Dexter. Real sociopaths don’t have emotions and are supposed to get more depraved as time goes on (if they keep getting away with their crimes). Dexter doesn’t match up.
I would sure as hell love that twist, but am unsure where it would go. Even if he isn’t a clinical psychopath, he still had it in him to kill a bunch of people with no second thought afterward. That’s close enough. It’d be hard to frame him as a tragic case of someone who could have been good being pointed down the wrong path. He was killing small animals and having murder urges as a kid.

Dexter being a complete psychopath hasn’t been the case since Season 1. He likes to think himself different but everyone knows he has empathy. He has feelings.

I mean…does Vogel even know about Harrison? Because everyone knows he loves his son, which seems like it would be a foreign concept to Vogel.

Yeah Dexter is still somewhat of a psychopath, but a self-aware one who does not LIKE being a psychopath. Especially after what happened to Deb.

Didn’t realize Hall directed this episode

Well we learned one thing.

Even Michael C. Hall can’t make Quinn bearable.

Ah he wasn’t that bad, he was barely in it to be fair.

>_> Quinn’s always that bad.

I think it’s too obvious that Dr Vogel is doing everything, so it’s obviously that. I’m just pushing through since i made it this far. If i hung on for the end of 24, I can make it through this…

Honestly, everything relating to Deb so far has me pretty damn entertained. I’m more interested in Deb’s world falling around her than Dexter himself or any other character at this point, she’s too good.

Deb has a pretty decent face, but goddamn is her body gross. She needs to go on an all-McDonald’s diet for a bit.

she can gain like 20lbs and still look better than how she is now.

Exactly. It took 3/4ths of the season to reveal something we already knew.

Sociopaths and psychopaths do feel emotions, just in a very superficial way. They just don’t feel strong emotions and have no genuine concept of fear or remorse.

The main issue is that don’t feel empathy and can never put themselves in a position to relate to other people. This allows them free reign to commit wholly selfish and atrocious acts with ease.

Well she’s selling how the world is falling apart around her. I can’t imagine Deb is very well-fed at this point.

She’s been a stick in every season of Dexter and everything else I’ve seen her in(the REC western remake and that Exorcist movie.)

Yeah, but it makes more sense now.

offtopic: I thought 24 ended well compared to many of the other series that have been on for almost a decade.

You guys are too harsh on Jennifer Carpenter she is skinny, but she is healthy skinny, obviously hits the gym alot instead of living off rabbit food and puking it up later.

wtf He didn’t kill anyone

24 ending was legit, Jack and Chloe.

Deb actually DOES look like shes softened up a bit, for the better.

[details=Spoiler]Alright let’s talk a bit about Episode 3.

Vogel pretty much showed her gameplan. She wants Dexter to be the perfect psychopath. Deb’s getting in the way. We all saw it coming but hey, nice to see it play out a bit more.

Quinn’s actually bearable. I think most of his stupidity and asshole went to Batista because he’s fucking losing it…again. Giving him shit for messing up ONE QUESTION?! And bringing the whole you stuck your neck out for him? He didn’t want to take the exam in the first place. Man, even when Quinn tries not to do anything sucky people drag him down to it anyway.

And Dexter hates cannibals. Well now we know the synopsis if Hannibal ever shows up to the neighborhood.

And lastly for the episode can we give all the awards to Jennifer Carpenter? She kills it constantly, just a great actress.

Now for speculation later. A couple things to note. One, Dexter’s Spirit of Harry was nowhere to be seen this episode. It seems with Vogel essentially being the living code he doesn’t have much use for him right now. Every time he dumps Harry bad things happen. Second…Vogel does not know about Harrison. She just can’t otherwise I can’t imagine her not grilling him about having a son when she things he has absolutely no concept of empathy (which we all know is bulllshit). And lastly…how are they going to stop Deb from confessing? I mean if Vogel hurts her in ANY way…well ask Hannah and Brian how that went for them.[/details]
