So…Deb realizes that she doesn’t even like her brother anymore, what’s stopping her from turning him in? Is she just like “well I’m already along for the ride so fuck it”? Dexter fucked up hard by casually leaving Hannah’s keys on the table like a derp.
The scene with him and Issak was pretty awesome, though.
[details=Spoiler]There had to be better scenes left on the cutting room floor than the after school special scene about Astor smoking weed. Probably the only good thing that came out of that was seeing Deb take a long drag off a spliff at the end of the episode.
also I think Deb still loves Dex, just doesn’t want to say it[/details]
[details=Spoiler]I don’t get the hate for Astor and Cody. Yeah, I wouldn’t like to see them in every episode or be a major part of any season, but in the small bursts we get them they’re fine. The kids did grow up some between seasons though, seriously. It’s kind of weird seeing it actually. I’m used to them being small.
As for the Deb confession, it was well handled I think. While I would’ve preferred them just forget that the subplot ever happened, this at least works.
Hannah though…damn it Dexter, stop being stupid. You KNOW she’s trouble, and she isn’t even hiding it. Now you’d be lucky if Deb doesn’t go and just try to shoot Hannah herself. Just take care of her, it’s best for everyone.
Isaak storyline is great. The whole gay lovers thing was unsurprising but Isaak really sells his role. If anything, it’s really unfortunate that he’s gonna die in SOME fashion by the end of this. Just a great character all around and doesn’t let any one facet of himself completely take over his character.
Laguerta getting closer and by proxy, getting closer to the slab. Good…good…soon we shall be rid of her.[/details]
I felt that Jennifer Carpenter aka Deb was reaching for all the anguish she felt during her failed marriage with her ex-husband/ coworker, which made it quite a powerful scene. Dexter’s confoundment was probably the most profound expression he’s ever shown, for obvious reasons. His speechlessness was so… appropriate. lol
What made the scene even better is that Deb acted like the embodiment of the female rationale. She admitted to Dex that being with Hannah was a worse than not killing her, which was hilarious. Deb also admits that it was really her desire to be with Dex as the driving force of him not being arrested for all his crimes.
The Isaak and Dex dialogue was very good, and allowed Dex to get an insight into his nemesis that he would’ve otherwise never gleaned. So sad that Isaak must die, one way or the other.
If LaGuerta doesn’t die or fall into a coma, I find it very difficult to see how Dexter will be able to dig his way out this mess. It would be funny if Hannah and Dex actually succeed in running away from it all and going to Argentina. Season finale twist!

Deb’s choices are the deciding factor this season.
Him being with Hannah pretty much IS worse than just not killing her. It’s one thing to just not kill her. When Dex was making excuses earlier, they were legit concerns. The more Deb falls into Dex’s Dark World, the more she risks exposure for both especially since she’s a damn emotional wreck these days. But to willingly be with another serial killer, who kills whoever the fuck she wants with no remorse…it’s a pretty big slap in the face and pretty much goes against everything Dexter has done up to this point. Dexter really does have no excuse for not killing Hannah, she’s way too dangerous alive.
