I never said that. But do you really think that after Trinity and Rita’s death, the writers had anything remotely resembling an easy road ahead of them in terms of keeping up with their previous quality?

I think this season should have been more about Dexter dealing with the death and doing more episodic, non main-story line Kills. Almost like a filler season with some interesting prey and maybe have the santa muerte and quinn things going on but I think introducing the lumen storyline this season was jumping the gun a bit on having a new main interest romantically or even story wise for dexter. Dexter vs Quinn would have been a better season to follow with than this lumen business because now its like either shes going to die or become a permanent character who will have a big impact on the series.
Well to be selfish I wish they’d just continue to focus on Rita and ‘everything’, but that would pretty much invalidate season 5. It’s not like they can sell that to people, “Check out season 5, it’s riding on the coat tails of season 4!”. They have to shove everything out of the way for something else, and while I understand the need to it still doesn’t fit well. For me anyway.
um…julie stiles fucking sucks :mad: this so called “acting” is so bad. she is NOT dexter material. this is some heroes-tier shit going on now. worst rape victim ever award?
this season is still good and others are doing fine(like robocop). but JS is still the worst thing ever happened to dexter series. I honestly cant think of anyone else ruining it for me.
Looks like the Quinn vs Robocop saga is gonna play out on its own since Robocop threatens him and Deb. I’m happy that, that won’t be extra work for Dexter though I suspect Quinn will still be suspicious of him.
Next episode looks like it will deliver. Its starting to finally pick up now.

From reading the past few pages of this thread, I certainly don’t think Rita’s death has been forgotten or underplayed at all. It’s being used as Dexter’s motivation for helping Lumen.

-Dexter will let Lumen hold his kid? Anyone else get a weird vibe from tonight’s closing shot, like “This will be the high point of this relationship?”
-I actually enjoyed the club sequence tonight. How did Latina Cop get away unscathed during that?
-So did head security guy/Whistler see that was Dexter in his house? If so, that could make any potential trips back to the police station pretty interesting.
-I must say, I actually like how they show how happy Masuka gets working with Dexter to figure stuff out.

Episode was nuts, I said OH SHIT out loud when the truck got hit lol. Looks like I was right about this whole thing being bigger than it appears, now we got some multimillionare rapist killer, how will Dexter take him out without people noticing.
What I really like is that Dexter needs Lumen’s help, Cole is obviously skilled only other person to ambush Dexter like that was Doakes.
I’m not hating on Julia Stiles, yes she has had a couple of off moments, but “worst rape victim”, how many rape victims do you know?? 
Next week’s episode looks interesting, Robocop has turned bad, Deb looks like she may suspect Quinn.

Lumen has finally pierced through Dexter’s shell, which was eventual. I didn’t expect him to show his son around her though. Soon her existence will be out in the open, which will make them a target… and not by Quinn.
It’s cool that there’s some fraternal tie to whole “Take It!” gang but I wanted this to be more… international. I wanted them to deal with the whole global sex slavery angle so Dex could be in some really deep water with hired guns and stuff.
