I marathoned the shit out of the first four seasons back in February. This show is godly. I’m glad it’s still on. It’s the only active show on right now that fills the void the canceled Sarah Connor Chronicles left me.
This shit is not a novel its a TV show. I know alot of you guys download it and watch it at your leisure but you cant be mad when someone spoils something that Aired MONTHS ago. Why would you even read through a thread about a show if you didnt want it spoiled, the whole thread is mostly made up peoples reactions to what they just saw on the show.
Up until now, Dexter has been amazing. I just can’t see it taking a new direction and getting better. I see it going downhill this season. The writers already told us that there won’t be a big villain for this season, which sounds boring. And they’re bringing in all these new cast, and it just won’t feel the same at all imo. Still looking forward to it though, hoping I’m wrong.
New casts to replace who? There were a number of new character introduced every season so I don’t see the problem unless they are replacing main characters.
It’s weird to say this, but I think S4 was the weakest of all of them. I think it was ‘doomed’ from the start though. They put so much into the trinity character that it really sucked the life out of the rest of the show. I hope by avoiding a ‘big villain’ they get to explore the small stuff that was in Dexter Season 1. I really really like s1 and 2 cause they really went in depth into all the charaters and it felt like one continuous story from S1. S3 and S4 were pretty separated… So S5 can be a step back and be more about establishing characters better and exploring the dynamics between them in different situations (dexter could cause the butterfly effect all over again, like in s2).
God, I cannot stfu about how good S2 was. The last episodes of S2 felt like one huge story that took no breaks (like 24). You really got to see how destructive dexter’s character had become and how it affected everything around him.
Got to disagree, if you listen to the cast, writers, producers and directors they absolutely love making the show. They’ve said they’d rather not make the show if the script isn’t to a certain standard. The show has always been about Dexter’s personal development not about who the next villian is.
After the events of last season I am really interested in seeing what sort of person Dexter has turned into.
Without Season 4’s big villain, there would be no development for Dexter… The big killer each season provides the dynamic he needs (we need) for him to grow like he has. Without a villain, and without the police chasing him, I see this season straying from its roots and moving into more of a drama. Less suspense, less excitement. Just doesn’t sound like the Dexter I came to love in prior seasons.
Yeah, so without anything to antagonize his “other half,” what will be his balancing force? Will he just be more of a normal guy or what? It just doesn’t sound as fun as prior seasons without the whole cat and mouse between him, the big villains, and the police. I have faith in the writers though so we’ll see. This will give me something to pass the time until Breaking Bad starts back.
