Dexter Season 5: Sept. 6th With a New Trailer!

lol I completely forgot about Lost.

I finally caught up to that show afte marathon-ing up to the last season a few months ago.

i was telling my wife how it was awesome they were able to keep the finale a secret because usually with character deaths nowadays we know in advance because the actor/actresses contract is up and we know they have to get rif of the character ie nicolette sheridan on desperate housewives and mischa barton on the oc.

my wife brought up an inteteresting point saying what if she isnt off the show? i then thought about someone here mentioning dexter having two ghosts follow him around which if thats the case would be fucking dumb. if not, and rita is actually dead then what happened to the actress’ (julie benz??) contract with the show? i dont really want to know as it would take away the suspense factor but its something to think about.

some general questions/comments i have
-what kind of site was trinty using to look up dexter’s
address? you would think that all police oficers, lawyers, judges would be confidential. i work for the government and if i got pulled over my address could come up as confidential on a dmv search if i wanted. i dont think itd be as simple as looking up the white pages would it?

did they even interview the kid after dexter saved him? shouldnt he have been telling the cops “he made me call him arthur” or the cops show him a picture of the trucker so the kid could say it wasnt him?

In the interview with the staff, they said that Julie Benz was well aware of the fact that this might happen, so it’s probably written in their contracts that they might get offed on a whim.

I was thinking the same thing about the kidnapped kid, but then I thought that the kid might not have really felt threatened. He eventually felt sorry for Arthur and played along with what he wanted. Then Arthur said,“After your treat I’ll let you go.” The kid ate the treat and passed out, but when he woke up, he was back with his parents. So in the kid’s mind, Arthur kept his word.

Next Season

[details=Spoiler]
The part that’s gonna get Dexter caught up unless the writers ignore all the details they built up is, Rita was killed in a bathtub and she is a mother. Trinity killed mother’s by making them jump to their deaths. He would have known Rita was a mother since he left the baby. So either the FBI, Batista, Debra or maybe Quinn realize that Trinity broke the pattern for Dexter and wonder why. If Quinn figures it out though he will try to fuck with Dexter to the point where he and Dexter spar off like Doakes and him did. So either Quinn dies at the end of the next season or finds a way to fuck Dexter up in some way.

My beef is that next season the dumb shit needs to end. The Batista and LaGuerta marriage nonsense wasn’t properly thought out from jump so both of those characters seem outta place. Maybe they can make them become some kinda partners that catch bad guys hardcore style as a side-plot sorta like Caine and Delco from CSI: Miami. That whole part where Laquerta goes “OMG we’re married!” or whatever was so outta place all I was thinking to myself was, shit this is where I go make a glass of pop and come back when the next scene starts.

Then there’s the fact that as much as Rita’s nagging and calling of Dexter could drive me nuts through an episode she had her place. She kept the kids while Dexter was out hunting or killing or other storyline was evolving. Without Rita it seems the writers might involve the kids more than necessary. I hope they don’t turn Debra into this all of a sudden loving aunt who babysits while Dexter is out killing. Because in the end she’ll nag him about how he needs to spend more time with the kids turning her into the new Rita. Let’s face it Dex really isn’t a good father.[/details]

exactly… no offense Sano, i know you love superheroes and stuff…

Dexter is NOT a superhero. he’s not even a good guy. he’s a murdering, lying, psychopathic piece of shit. once you attribute these qualities to his character and negate all “positive” qualities because THOSE ARE JUST A COVER SO HE CAN KEEP KILLING PEOPLE, it’s much easier to not be such a fanboy.

Spoiler

Dexter killing Rita would have been a great wake-up call to all these ‘“EPIC” shouting’ turbonerds on Dexter’s side; Quadrinity killing Rita is a cop-out; not horrible, but still a cop-out.

Actually they said he was badly decomposed which is pretty unbelievable within such a short timespan.

24 season 8 for me!:woot:

:looney:

Pretty sneaky.

He’s more complex a character than just some murdering psychopath. In this season they’ve clearly developed the character into something beyond that. And one of the themes of this season was his cover becoming something real to him.

edit besides even without the interview dexter killing rita would have made zero sense. Unless you were going for some schizophrenic angle but that would suck.

That couldn’t have been a fresh kill, as the body was badly decomposed already, most of this occured in a 2 day period, bodies don’t decompose that fast iirc.

Here’s that interview incase anyone didn’t see it

Dang, that was cool.

Can’t wait for next season.

John Lithgow better win things.

Fucking FUCK.

Im man enough to admit that Dexter’s face broke my heart a little bit.

Season 4 > Season 2 imo. And thats saying a LOT because Season 2 was hot fire but this was a raging inferno from the jump.

I guess we’ll reconvene in 2010 gentlemen.

See you guys in September 2010.

I didn’t, thank you very much =)

Man GTFO lol, if you have been watching since season1 you would know Dexter has been struggling to fit in, to appear “normal” but to his surprise he has discovered he starting to feel things that he never thought he could enjoy. Season 2 possibility of losing Deb, season 3 marrying Rita having a son, season 4 losing his family & being needed.

I do not agree killing Rita was a cop out but it does confuse the hell out of me, why didn’t he just go after Dexter since he had the money, he doesn’t know Dexter is a serial killer aswell just a dirty cop.

Also upon reflection, John lithgow should win some kind of award. He was amazing this season.

furious one rita was killed because trinity ritual was interupted by dexter so trinity started again with killing kyle butler, provoking daughter suicide, killing rita and taking innocence of dexter kid in the end trinity one up dexter cause he released him from his torment

LOL this has nothing to do with super heroes. I like them, sure, but I don’t consider Dexter one. Serial killer and doesn’t wear tights.

Last ep, what I was talking about

[details=Spoiler]What I meant was, why would anyone for one second believe that the ending was a dream sequence or what he saw in dark passenger mode? Of course Rita died. You saw her die, she died. It’s a show about a serial killer. If you expect him to ride off into the sunset or something every time it’s just not going to happen. Fiction has a wild way of stuff catching up to you. That’s why Sopranos ended the way it did (they sort of copped out but chances are Tony died). That’s why the Godfather trilogy ended the way it did. Maybe Dexter will ride off into the sunset and this will set it apart but chances are when the show ends he will go down and he’s not going to get away scott free every time.

I really said nothing about Dexter killing Rita. Sure he could, why not. But he got home, she’s already dead, Trinity did it. It’s right there in front of you, it’s not exactly Donnie Darko or some joint where you gotta give it a lot of thought…

And the Melrose Place comment, you know it’s typical in those shows for you to see something like that and next thing you know it’s a dream sequence, joint didn’t happen or it’s a psyche out. This is Cable, screw that! It ain’t know Dynasty MAAANG I dunno about J.R. but Rita is dead dead DEAD and why do you need an interview to tell you what you saw?

It’s like when people thought Adriana was still alive when they didn’t see her get killed on the Sopranos, WTF, it’s Sopranos! Of course she got killed! DON’T STOP BELIEEEEVIN’… :looney:[/details]

Whats with all this cycle talk? Trinity went after Dexter’s private life, because Dexter fucked with him, hard. It had nothing to do with a cycle. It was revenge.

but it is still a cover and will stay a cover unless he stops killing and turns himself in.

it makes sense in the context of her not being labeled “serial killer harbor-er” for the rest of her life when Dex finally gets busted. and how is it not a schizophrenic angle right now anyway? i mean, sure, we all hallucinate our dead fathers telling us kill people, but THE TV ISN’T SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT IT

WWWWWWWWWWWWHYYYYYYYY???

all of that is irrelevant, Doakesdamnit.

Sano! what the hell! you went of on a gigantic tangent about which i have no idea what you’re saying  i wasn’t arguing Rita’s death (though some were), i was arguing Quadrinity’s involvement.

i swear to Doakes y’all are crazy. :cybot:

huh really? no shit guy it was revenge. But in trinity fashion thats why he killed rita. Thats why he said “its all over” when dex was retiring trinity she and the kid was the last pieces 4 the scheme 2 come full circle. Thats why he was driving away with a huge grin in his face. Trinity wouldnt leave unfinished business.

his family…
