As for whether or not DMC is one of the best action games on the planet…I’m not the only person saying this, so it’s hardly opinion. It along with Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta and God of War = best action games around according to the general public.
Regarding the “braindead, boring combat”…have you played Heavenly Sword? Because most people who have agree that it boils down to the same thing, use the Triangle button that doubles as an attack/counterattack, or watch a scripted QTE kill instead of actually fighting. Reports from the people who have played Enslaved cite control issues where “your character responds nearly a second after pressing a button”, “robotic jumping”, and bland combat. Not to mention both games run at 30 FPS or less.
So it boils down to this: Ninja Theory has made two games with action and combat that the general public does not find to be exciting, nor appealing. DMC’s main draw is combat. You honestly don’t see the problem with this? …Nevermind, I don’t even care.

I saw nothing wrong wit DMC4 either…but for some reason, never got around to play it that much (hence not part of my collection anymore). No biggie…I blame Bayonetta.
But…this Dante has grown on me a tad…just wondering if Ninja Theory can make a quality product. They might surprise people! I’m optimistic!

I’ve heard the same argument used by DMC 1 fans against DMC 3. Outside boss fights the enemy A.I. is watered down to such a degree that all difficulty hinges on the the enemies ability to deal retarded amounts of damage. Compare Deathscythes from the original DMC to their counter parts Hell jailers, nerfed as fuck. the game comes down to who can perform braindead combo strings on dumb A.I’s with long life bars. That’s DMC in a nutshell from 3 and onward and that’s the best action game to you? Congrats then your a braindead fanboy. I liked DMC 3 more then any other DMC and I can even admitt that it’s nowhere near the best.

SRK reading comprehension is horrible, never made a single mention of DMC 3 being a bad game up until the above post. I said Dante in DMC 3 and onwards is a horrible character. The fanboys in this thread are horrendous. Never seen so much tools before in my life.
I liked DMC3/4 Dante, my favorite incarnations of him.
I just find it hilarious people still don’t know DMC4’s overall medicore game was the overall best selling in the series.
meh, say what you will about DMC4, but i loved that game. nero was a fun new way to go about the fighting and definitely kept things nice and simple as opposed to dante (the real star of the game) where you got to style-switch mid combo, and since the entire reason i play dmc games is not for a challenge (if i wanted that i would be popping in a ninja gaiden instead) it’s for the over the top ass beatings that you can dish out with dante to just make things look good.
and on the stylish combat front i think you would be hard pressed to top dmc4 dante.
QFT. DMC4 was good shit, I don’t know why people rail it so bad. Nero is a blast, even if he is much easier to play than Dante. The addition of being able to switch styles mid combat/combos with Dante is beyond awesome. Over all I think DMC3 was a better game but DMC4 is still great.
i’m not going to keep repeating the reasons why DMC4 is a medicore game compared to 1 and 3 seeing it’s been stated like 8 times in the earlier post so i’ll just leave it at that.
