Hey hey sir, Season 2 was pretty good but LOL at the analogy. Its so spot on.
This game is shit.
No sir, it was not. I suppose it was alright til the dude got the double 0s, because that shit was broken. And they gave x-factor to every character, and we all know how that shit turns out.
The main problem with lack of lock on(besides you know NOT BEING ABLE TO HIT SHIT YOU WANT TO HIT) is the fact that it sucks out a LOT of moves that Donte could potentially have and overall just makes the game over simplistic.
Let’s just compare Dante’s Rebellion combos from DMC3 with current Donte’s
Standard combo - Both (1/1)
Pause combo - Both (2/2)
Helm breaker - Both (3/3)
Stinger - Both (4/4)
High time - Both (5/5)
Million/Trillion stab - Both (6/6)
Drive - Both (7/7)
Air Hike - Both [on all weapons by default in DmC] (8+/8)
Glide - Both [functionally different in DmC, and again, on all weapons by default] (9+/9)
Swordmaster specific moves (for DMC3)
Prop shredder - Only DMC3 (9/10)
Aerial rave - Both (10/11)
Sword pierce - Only DMC3 (10/12)
Thrust kick - Only DMC3 (10/13)
Dive kick - Only DMC3 (10/14)
Dance macabre - Both (11/15)df
Crazy dance - Only DMC3 (11/16)
That’s already 5 whole moves completly gone. Let’s move on to Gunslinger
Twosome time - Only DMC3 (1/2)
Wild stomp - Only DMC3 (1/3)
Rain storm - Both (2/4)
Ground-starting Rain storm - Only DmC (3/4)
Charge shot - Both (4/5)
Rapid shot - Only DMC3 [however, the charge shot in DmC ricochets, so for this one, we’ll give DmC a half-point out of fairness] (3.5/6)
Now let’s move on to parrying.
Block - Only DMC3 [ouch] (0/1)
Just block - Both [Sort of. In DmC, properly timing a strike with an enemy’s will “parry” it, leaving them open. This doesn’t modify your damage or fill any gauges, it just gives you a free hit. It can also open up new opportunities with bosses. One again, DmC will receive a half-point for half-ass.] (0.5/2)
Release - Only DMC3 (0.5/3)
Just release - Only DMC3 (0.5/4)
Air block - Both [Again, sort of. Same parry rules from before apply. Half-point.] (1/5)
Air release - Only DMC3 (1/6)
Ultimate - Only DMC3 (1/7)
And finally the oddjobs like Quicksilver and whatnot
Quicksilver:
Time lag - Both [Another “sort of, I don’t know” for DmC. Activating your devil trigger in DmC freezes enemies in place, sends them airborne, and makes you faster and stronger. This is very much like Quicksilver in its use, but it’s only just barely comparable. Whatever. A late christmas gift for Ninja Theory.] (1/1)
Doppelganger:
After-image - Both [For a price. Doppelganger IS in DmC, and it might be even MORE complex. But we have no real idea, because it’s DL-fucking-C. In DmC, Vergil has no Devil Trigger, and instead has a “Doppelganger gauge” that might be the same, or totally different. Because of a stingy lack of information (and the taste of Capcom balls on our tongues) we will refrain from altering the tallys at this time.] (Zanzibar/Xanadu)
Devil Trigger:
Needs no explanation. Fight, kill, maim, bleed, you build up gauge. Activate it, turn into buster-badass for a few moments, repeat. It traditionally adds a move, somewhere in your list. DmC’s does not. In fact, it doesn’t affect you at ALL, save for your damage, speed and making everything look like the cover for Batman: Arkham City. Half-assed, half-point. (1.5/2)
Honeslty. It’s AMAZING just how much the lack of styles and lock on capabilities hinder this game. The game is missing a whooping 13 moves from a game that came out 7 years ago. DmC actually uses MORE BUTTONS then any other DmC game and still manages to be less depth then every other Devil May Cry. AND THIS IS JUST FOR ONE WEAPON! I’m sure if we could compare the two other weapons he get’s in this game the difference would be phenomenal.
I had a fondness for how the finale went especially when it came down to 0 Gundam vs. Exia but I see what you’re saying.
Goddamn it, now we got Gundam talk in this thread. LOL
We’ll see come Tuesday how this game pans out. Need to remind myself to hit up the Redbox that day.
No, no you don’t.
DmC’s devil trigger is ass because it’s pretty much a AOE launcher that has slow regen. So you lose ground combos for no damn reason.
You get a launcher button and a AOE launcher for meter. Why two launchers Ninja Theory?
^ This.
Everything that needed to be said has been said already. Don’t bother repeating redundant points for people that are too lazy to read and understand an argument in its entirety before they respond to it.
If you don’t want to read 141 pages, Freeman, don’t bother joining the conversation.
Apparently, disliking the game, criticizing it, or giving it negative feedback makes you a hater…
Wtf? That word is tossed around incorrectly enough as it is. We don’t need dumbasses using it here too because they can’t defend their own opinions.
Buddy, I’m doing this because really, you’re probably a nice enough guy.
Quit making a fucking joke of yourself.

See this trailer makes the game look nice. They even show off an interesting looking enemy.
“look”
Oh, shit… It actually does. However, I’m glad they didn’t present it this way from the beginning. To be honest, if they did, I probably would be way more excited for it. Sure it looks nice but, to someone that knows the “truth” about the game, it doesn’t do it any justice. Saves me the otherwise inevitable feeling of disappointment, though.
Obligatory: Needs more “Fuck You!”
If NT or should I say Taneem at this point wasn’t acting like clownshoes the majority of the time then the game would’ve probably gone over a bit better. Yeah you would’ve have people throwing criticism at it but fuck it, the hate on it wouldn’t have been venomous as it is now.
Ok… that was pretty surprising. I lost all faith in the writing and who ever was in charge of marketing but somehow they were able to come out with something decent in the end. Maybe not up to DMC4 never surrender trailer standards but at least it came off as a decent game in this one.
I can’t get over that “The world is now your bitch” line. It’s so awful.
Also, I’m not the only one who wants to just punch donte in the face when he smiles, right?
That comparison doesn’t work though, because with DMC3 Dante you can only be in any one style with only two weapons at once. In terms of combo potential, DmC Dante is better than DMC3 because he can’t be in more than one style in a given combo. The only version of Dante that is more versatile is DMC4, Nero’s not even in the discussion.
But yea, you can apply this to DMC4 Dante because he has access to all styles and weapons. That version of Dante’s only equal in the whole genre is Bayonetta. I wouldn’t expect a reboot Dante to be that complex right of the bat, as that’s probably not the low entry point Capcom was going for. With the probability that DmC2 will be extremely likely, I’d expect that they build on the core mechanics to more approach that level of complexity.
Supremely depending on how DmC does and whether Capcom decides to let NT continue onward, I gotta say putting in lock-on wouldn’t hurt if they do a sequel.
Is there no dive kick in DmC? There truly is no hope for this game.
Yea.
Like I said before (and other seem to share the same opinion), I’ll be up YouTubing the cut scenes and checking out how the story unfolds.
As for the gameplay, I’ll pass. It’s not DMC anymore, as this game plays too much like Heavily Swords mixed in with GoW.
YouTube is the future of console gaming.
With all these games coming out to be more “movie-like”, I don’t understand why YouTube just doesn’t make their own console to compete with Sony and Microsoft.
They can put QTEs in there. If you don’t hit “subscribe” when the guy in the video tells you to do it, it’ll play an ad.
I will probably be doing the same thing. There is a pretty decent Youtube app on ps3 now, its only a mater of time until they fully take over.
