Which is quite dumb considering that we are talking on forum dedicated to games made by japanese.

If DMC4 had a DLC model, I’d spend so much money. Imagine being able to buy Nevan or Agni/Rudra and play with the DMC4 engine. Like True Ultimate Tempest>Trickster Teleport>Normals>Trickster Dash~momentum glitched Cerberus shit.
Such a good potential DLC model.
That’s actually a pretty good idea.
Too bad there would be no real way to fix the awful level design for Dante’s segment of DMC4 without a complete overhaul.
I stopped watching after his argument on Dark Souls 2 easy mode. I don’t care about this “casual down” argument because I’m a guy who likes Mass Effect 2 (thus, giving me no back bone on that state of “hardcore gaming” arguments), however he missed the point completely. As he stated that having an option to allow players to explore the game at an easier difficult to avoid the frustrating features the game may avow is for the better, as this option will be giving players outside the Dark Souls fan base an experiences that most “hardcore gamers” gain from the previous titles. Problem is, fans worry because it won’t be an Option, and I don’t understand where he gets his evidences from a statement off the interview with the Dark Souls 2 developer stating that he wanted to open the game to a “wider audience”.
He, like everyone else, jumped to the conclusion that this meant “dumbing down” the game without any true references or evidences what that statement may imply (but let’s be real, they’re gonna make the game easier lol). So not only is he talking down on the “hardcore gamers” because of this statement, but out of his own ignorance, he too is jumping to random conclusions to have never been stated just so he can speak out his own argument.
TL;DL the guy in the video is a fuckin’ moron.
Well this is amusing. When DmC was announced, people were saying NT sucks at gameplay but good at stories and cutscenes.
Now people are saying NT sucks at gameplay but good at cutscenes/facial technology.
Lol
Heh I like Mass Effect 2 as well…
I like all 3 Mass Effect games for different reasons…
I think NT sucks at everything, but to each their own.
you should probably watch the whole video because he addresses your point.
your exact point, just saying…
on an unrelated don cheadle is at the top of my screen with his clothes on fire, should i be concerned, i don’t want movie war machine to die
Having an easy mode will negatively effect a game like Dark Souls. I mentioned it in the Dark Souls thread but it would divide up the available user base for multiplayer. If you look at agent hunt for RE6 where you invade games for example, you never ever want to invade an easy game because you most likely would be fucked. It was most fun for both parties if it was balanced in a way that people can give both sides a challenge (I did not mind people invading my game on Professional, if I did not want to play it with them, I just turn agent mode off). Also searching for people to play with is hard enough as is, but when you add another criteria to the search, you are gonna slim down your options, which probably would matchmaking even more annoying.
An interesting way to improve Dark Souls would be to improve player interaction. I had people write paragraphs when I was a Sunbro asking tips on how to not get murdered by a boss, and I had to message them back on how we’ll go about the boss. I’ll be good if people can actually choose their help and player interactions besides looking for a sign and winging it. But I know the director wanted to make the game feel isolated and keep the feeling pertinent throughout the whole game. But in a way, you can just say, don’t use the system and go as you see fit. If players are playing offline, I wouldn’t mind there being optional summon signs for Solaire-like companions to help someone, but also scale up the enemies to match (which they already sort of do. Bosses gain more hp the more phantoms you have helping you). Anyways, if you were playing offline, you actually had an easier time because you didn’t have to worry about people coming to mess you up (unless you always were undead).
the video is one of the few opinions on game design on the web that lines up so much with mine, i don’t feel i can explain it it better
so my retort are the points brought up in the video game
just a bit less snarky
opps wrong reviewer…
Unlike other games, for Dark Souls even if you just don’t use easy mode, it would still effect you if you were an active player online. I personally don’t care if there is an easy mode for single player games and I found it funny that there was a Ninja Dog mode in Ninja Gaiden Black. But just by having easy mode Dark Souls, you would be splitting the playerbase in a game where matchmaking is hard enough and play interaction is very restricted. If you were invading an easy mode person, you would also have to change up your playstyle too because the person you are fighting has a number advantage compared to fighting them normally (even if they don’t effect invader stats, you have to take in account enemies and traps would most likely be easier to deal with, probably making it less of an incentive lure the player).
Jim Sterling basically said, if there was an easy mode, just don’t use it and it won’t effect you. But due to the nature of Dark Souls, it actually does effect you. For a similar example, just try to agent hunt in RE6. It’s a different game with different mechanics, but the multiplayer concept is similar and you can see how the easy mode effects the game type and even the matchmaking.
I was agreeing somewhat with the guy until he brought up the point about movies and books. He said that if there is a word you don’t understand in a book or a part you don’t understand in a movie(well he said for it to quiz you), the book or movie doesn’t stop you from reading or watching it further. This is true but if you don’t understand a concept or word you usually go look it up and learn from the experience. Or say you reread a book or rewatch a movie if you didn’t get it the first time. It’s called learning from your experience. I mean there are plenty of casual games out there so I don’t believe every game needs to have an easy mode. I don’t really care who plays the games I play, I just want the experience to be challenging for me.
I don’t think it would negatively impact DS’s match making. People who liked DS the way it was will just play on the hardest mode, you’ll have the same amount of people to choose from.
I cannot stand that dude. Sterling is an asshole.
I too liked all three MEs for different reasons.
ME1 did a great job setting up the game’s lore with the different planets, the citadel and galaxy politics, the various races and their histories, etc (even if much of it was inspired by Star Wars and Bioware’s previous experience developing KOTOR) and introducing the reaper threat. ME2 improved the combat and with all the companions you could recruit they game really made you feel like you were commanding your own militia vs the collector army. ME3 was that 50 car pileup where morbid fascination compels you slow down and look at.
not gonna lie
alot of people on the escapist can be on the im right your wrong, snarkity snark snark side
but sometimes he has point, and i agree with this one
you just said you dont care who enjoys what games you play, you want it to be challenging to you
if thats so , why do you care if they want to put an easy mode in a game you play, your not gonna play it
