^Probably easy mode (Dark Souls 2)
R.I.P. hard games.
same crap different video.
just jump cancel everything to make it seem like you did something isn’t gameplay.
a lot of the combos were just slightly different versions of the very first combo used.
I don’t like blaming “casuals” for very technical games selling poorly, because if you grew up with COD or Uncharted instead of SF2 or Mario, you’ve never been educated on how challenge is supposed to be rewarding. Everything they’ve grown up playing has been hand-holdy, which is why Dark Souls was such a revelation to some people. I don’t mind an action game assuming the player’s never played an action game before, just as long as it tries to teach them how to enjoy action games.
What a game shouldn’t do is dump a bunch of options on people and then make it so brain dumb that none of the options mean anything. The way to help new players is better in-game education, not just making sure that anything they do will work, AKA the X-Factor approach.
I’m not oblivious to sites being paid but I do have a problem with people throwing the idea around like its commonplace.
you need to play more games
there are plenty
again expand your horizons and all that, also remember to differentiate hard from bad game design masked by nostalgia
I like the part where the reviewer makes assumptions on what end users will think
People have had free PUR cards before and gotten stuff that was for PUR members. If they did switch it to you having to have the Pro card in order to get Vergil’s downfall then that flies in the face of what the trailer said about getting it for ‘free’, Not saying that GS wouldn’t resort to that but the thing Shatta posted says PUR members…it says nothing about having to be pro. If I had a chance to check SRK during my brief break today then I probably would have saw this post and double checked. I’ll try to remember to take a look into it myself tomorrow.
Please don’t beat me up over this, but I believe Street Fighter 4 was really close to this.
Is scrubby, was considered fun for a lot of people, and still had that learning curve (the strong players are consistent when they place).
Even with nostalgic goggles off, the game did well for entry fighting game players.
why would you get beat up
its a good fighting game, tekkentt2 does it aswell its good fighting game
Cause the consensus here is that SF4 is ass. I think it’s a good game.
I don’t think consensus means what you think it means
I can say with a straight face that I honestly prefer 4 to 3. But A3 >>>> the rest.
eh that game sold well if thats the consensus
this website or the fgc in general has little influence on capcom pockets
its a good game, i think people are mad they arent 10 anymore , when games were “good”
i understand legit complaints like ff13 basically playing itself, and sonic 06 being rushed piece of shite with too many good ideas and because of that it just leaves you disappointed
but this is a Pokemon gen1 vs gen5 argument it seems, basically there is no argument the person spouting stuff about the old days has no logical basis on their claims and needs to shut up because they arent 10 anymore.
street fighter 4 is my favorite street fighter series
shrugs
not my favorite series though… tekken has that position locked
Nostalgia or no, a good game is a game game. It’s so undeniable that it can almost be considered a fact when someone says that video games were better in the past. Modern games are, for the most part, watered down versions of the games we grew up with. The games we played as kids had the depth, difficulty, and replay value that a lot of current ones lack or lost in translation when being modified to appeal to the masses. That’s why, even though it seems like people are just being nostalgic, older games get a lot more praise and recognition than current ones.
Pokemon is one of the few series that stayed consistent up until now. A lot of others went downhill like Final Fantasy, Need for Speed, and Sonic(for the most part). I can’t speak for LoZ since I haven’t really played the newer titles… Didn’t like the one where you turn into a wolf, though.
Hey, son, when you’re rebuffing someone’s opinion, calling them names is a surefire way to cause whatever point you’re trying to make go flying right out the window.
As one of the supposed “d-bags” you’re referring to, if you read my posts correctly, you would see that I never said that there were ‘no good games at all,’ I express my concern that the current approach to game making is leading to an increased gap in the number of well-thought out, well-executed games as opposed to the throngs of CallofAssassinsMaddenofWar games that see release constantly and have about as much thought behind them as you did when you made that pitiful attempt at insulting me.
Go read a few books, build up a vocabulary, and come back when you can do more than a hurl insults at people who say things you don’t agree with like a first grader, you big poopiehead.
I haven’t had a chance to go to Gs to ask, but i went to their official PuR site and read the conditions. From what i read looks like with even the free membership you might qualify for the dlc promotion.
