Just gonna correct this. There may be a pause with a pose, but that is strictly when you are at neutral, i.e. not doing anything at all. Even walking/running negates the animation, and buffering the style changes during combat is more than likely the intended way to use it.
Was Alice Madness Returns any good? Considering buying that.
Also, Verjel gameplay looks actually pretty good. I like how chaotic the areas look in comparison to the calmness it is when Donte goes through them. Will that be free later on or will people have to pay for that if they don’t pre-order?
You should go by Luke Warm instead of ShogunZ. You can’t decide what point you’re going to stand by. It’s like your trying to say, “the game is shitty” without saying it by saying, “nickel platted shit” instead. It’s crap but with a shinny new finish!
There’s nothing complex when it comes to this game other than the fact it took over two years for Capcom and NT to decide was the game going to be a reboot, remake, rebirth, alternate dimension, ect. The combat is bare bones compared to the overall achievements that DMC3 & 4 met in the combat system. It’s a failed attempt to be an DMC game in every way. Period.
It’s not “massive” since DMC never had lengthy command lists for any of their weapons unlike Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden. What it is in short is a stripping away of options for no reason. And styles like Gunslinger I didn’t get much into because the style was more flair than anything else since the damage cannot match up to the devil arms. Also I don’t think anyone said the game isn’t complex. The game takes more thought because of the style ranking. Various enemy types also influence this a BIT. It’s more like people are saying "We have less options for no reason, there’s nothing to make up for it, and the combat is piss easy now."
Just look at this video. You know what’s funny/sad about this video? It’s boring. Why? I could already do all of that after playing the demo a bit.

Best part is at 1:21 imo. Less options+easier to do everything.
Here’s the part that’s fucking with me with the developers.
Not once did they come off like they enjoyed any of the old DMCs. All the did in interviews was bitch about it.
We look at the Platinum Games blog for Rising and these guys come off as fans of Metal Gear hoping they can make a game that lives up to what fans expect.
Tameem/NT are like Dante is lame, the story is lame, and the games were too hard but we’re excited to work on this game.
Well I wouldn’t buy DmC at any price just on principle, but if people want this game I want to lessen their financial blow at least. Last time I paid full price on day 1 for a short and thoroughly mediocre single-player game was Dragon Age 2, and boy did I learn the hard way.
He has changed his tune recently, now praising DMC for its depth and being humbled to be part of its legacy. I hope he actually realized its depth rather than blindly accepting fan criticism. Gonna check out that Alice game sometime…
But does that necessarily mean it’s not a true DMC? Because it has less options, for whatever the reason? Piss easy? Those combos are all basic as hell. If you did basic as hell combos in DMC3, watching it would be boring as well. And, people, believe it or not, can get through DMC3 doing extremely basic, boring ass stuff, provided they know the simple fact that they are completely invincible during a jump. They’re letting the animations all play out, no canceling at. Once you start mixing in the different effects of all those weapons with when attacks can all be canceled and strung together, you get a much more stylish action. We won’t see that from Capcom/IGN/Gamespot reps. Though on the fence about the game, Brea says she’s still getting it. You can bet when she’s had about a week with the game we will see more of it’s potential.
Yo, seriously stop drinking the Koolaid. Are you stupid? Is he STUPID? I was waiting for the part where he actually explains himself…and he never did. What the fuck is going on? Am I in bizarro world? Are you niggas forreal? If someone made a video like this about ANYTHING else, like say…Resident Evil. And just praised RE: Nemesis saying it was better than RE4 or some shit, but then when they’re showing footage of RE4 all they say is “It sucks. You know it fucking sucks, don’t get it” and that it…you’d laugh them off.
But because it’s this game. Yo I lost any respect I had for Shatta, he’s an idiot. Shame on you for supporting that horseshit. THREE VIDEOS. I wasted the time it took to get through three stupid ass videos…and nothing. Nah nigga, not nice at all.
You clearly missed the point then, as my point has been consistent. DmC is a solid entry into the series, and is enjoyable as a true DMC experience. I’ve already explained how the game is more complex than you assume it is (because based on those atrocious videos, you just played DMC2 a lot and played no DmC) if you choose to ignore that, that’s on you. But you don’t get to say “Failed attempt in every way” if you don’t understand the nuance of the game.
Your videos boils down to “This sucks. it sucks so bad. What I’m trying to say…it sucks”. If you were pro DmC and tried to say that, you would be shredded to pieces, but this SRK hivemind in full effect.
Just know, you’re very much a hypocrite as are many in this thread.
I don’t think a guy forgetting DMC4 and Bayonetta had delayed combo strings for air combos and thinking removing lock on isn’t a legitimate concern knows what a “DMC” experience is (whatever the hell that’s suppose to mean).
Watching old combo videos of DMC 3 makes me sad, cause I know it’ll never be like that ever again.
DmC’s current “combo videos” look like complete shit, but it isn’t the players fault.
Problem is, that’s all the game has to offer.
I know some people are like “who cares if lock-on is gone?!” but that changes up a lot of design choices even for things like monsters. Now certain enemies and bosses have to design around the fact that there’s manual lock-on, thus changing the way enemies attack in general.
DMC 3 monsters forced you to move around, however that type of mobility was possible due to having a manual lock on. But for the most part, DMC 3 monsters were actually there for the sake of being combo’d (unlike DMC 1, where they just wanted you dead).
they somehow manged the eff up the controls and camera angles worse in dmc2. im not gonna lie, dmc4 controls perfect i went back to play 1-3 oh god, well atleast 1 and 2.
and along with mechanical difficulty ( the game play wasnt that great…)
that was the first attempt to turn our hero into a more serious character, and it failed.
