Devil may cry reboot. wipe those tears dante, its gonna be okay

Kamiya didn’t work on DMC3 in any way shape or form.

Thanks for catching that. I mistakenly thought that he directed 1, 3, and 4, but it seems like the dude who made 2 and also made 3 and 4, interesting.

I actually played 2 and it wasn’t -that- bad…

Yea. I believe Kamiya had formed Clover Studios by the time DMC3 came out but i could be wrong. Eitherway he hasn’t worked on DMC since the first one, sadly. That’s why Bayonetta was such a big deal. It was his first time back to making that kind of an action game.

Eh DMC2 imo cimits the biggest crime a game can commit…it’s boring. It’s just not engaging in any way. It controls solidly enough and everything works the way it’s supposed to it’s just not entertaining.

DMC2 wasn’t nearly as bad as people say it is like RGS said it’s boring probably because the enemies are hella generic and a lot of the game is running through an empty city with literally nothing going on beyond the sound of dante’s footsteps.

Well no there’s more then that. all the swords are swaps with different stats but that’s it and you only only get swords. The combat engine is a complete step backwards. Dantes personality is non-existent. the enemies are boring and pose no threat. It deserves the hate it gets because it’s the sequel to an incredibly good game that ends up not being anywhere half as good as the game that proceeds it. It’s a step backwards in every single part of the game save a few systems like the trickster and gunslinger-ish type abilities, the Devil Heart System and the early signs of the Weapon Swap system. But that’s hardly enough to make the game interesting. It’s a complete failure in that it’s a fucking boring ass game compared to what came before it.

It’s like if Uncharted 3 ends up being less of a game then Uncharted 1. Considering its history that would make UC3 Dog Shit.

Dante’s Inferno did it better…just sayin’…

Actually, DI is just a better game than LOS overall. I originally didn’t even want to play it because EA had something to do with it but when I finally got to play it, I hated myself for not giving it a chance when I did. Behind Bayonetta and DMC, it’s the MvC/GG of action games.

yeah, just DMC1.

The way i saw it, DMC 4 Dante was feelin himself big time. I mean you just beat the biggest bad guy of all time that your Dad fought eons ago. It was nice to play a Dante who really didn’t feel these group of bad guys were that much of threat to him compared to Mundus.

Hard not to feel yourself when you know you’re the strongest mofo on earth and you got the 2 baddest bitches backing you up and giving you head whenever you’re not out there killing demons.

DMC4 was pretty fun, backtracking is what killed it for me. It’s like they got tired halfway through the making of the game and I guess someone proposed, “HEY let’s give these fools the ability to play Dante and make him go through the same stages. They play their beloved Dante, we get 2 months of paid holidays, WINNING1!”.

Probably the same guy who came up with the idea of DLC chars on the disc.

I think making Dante playable ate up a lot of dev time. To bad. I still enjoy DMC4 quite a bit. I liked that Dante was feelin tops in that game. I was hoping for DMC5 they would have him hit a wall and kind of knock him back down a peg. Would have made for an interesting dynamic. Oh well. Guess they’d rather go backwards again and give us a douche nozzle who’s nothing like Dante to play as instead.

Been saying it that a game where you can either go through fully as Nero or Dante would be awesome and also having a sort of Separate Ways campaign playing as Trish, Lady, or that chick from DMC 2. You could definitely involve the storyline surrounding maybe a possible Nero resurrection and maybe Dante’s dad popping back up but in a corrupted state. Guarantee Capcom would make a shit ton of money of this.

Kamiya was still promoting DMC1 outside of Japan when he found out DMC2 was starting up under Itsuno’s team(2,3,4)
DMC2 had some solid mechanics, but if you ever want an example of listening to the wrong playerbase, DMC2 is it. Make it easier, make the levels less claustrophobic, tone down that rude main character, make everyone who liked the first game’s hardcore-ness hate it.
I really hope Ninja Theory and the Remains of Team Ninja don’t dump the new games into God Of War/Lords of Shadow/Dante’s Inferno/Heavenly Sword territory…no offense they’re OK games, but they’re not operating on the same level as DMC, Bayonetta or particularly Itagaki’s Ninja Gaidens(fuck both Sigmas).
GOW/LOS/DI are more adventure games, with simple combat mechanics that let you cancel out of *anything *if you get into trouble, no scoring system, no real threats in any of the battles(for me anyway). Just no balls. I don’t want Quick Time Events, I don’t want to climb rope after rope and solve puzzles, I don’t want to scale walls and dodge stuff being thrown down at me. I want to be tested in combat with a system that encourages me to master it’s mechanics, whether it’s juggle crazy DMC Bayonetta SSS scoring or NGB/NGII’s Kill or be killed, raped and eaten style. Adventuring aspects are not what I want or expect of these games…so it’ll be really disappointing if NG/DMC head that route.

LOS isn’t really an action game tho, it is an adventure game as you said so comparing it to these series is a bit unfair since it has different goals.

So… Why was someone acting like fighting Satan was a big deal again? Not the first time you fought him in a Castlevania game.
And, we’re talking about Capcom. They tend to hate going forward after awhile with their games.

This. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the environments weren’t so bland and forgettable either. Sure, DMC3’s environments were hit and miss too, but at least there were awesome ones like the top of Temen-ni-Gru, the inside of the Leviathan and pretty much the entire demon world. In DMC4 it was like…okay snowy castle exterior, cramped castle interior, and a jungle with absolutely nothing interesting going on. =/

Yeah I can’t stand the whiny stream/youtube monsters making a big deal about a little bit of a change to Dante to explain a different part of the story that they want you to explore. Not everyone dressed or looked exactly the same now that they did when they were younger so it fits any way. This is the same reason why it took 6 years for anyone in the US to give a shit about SF3. LOL. I never really got a chance to play any of the DMC games because of me pretty much retiring anything but fighting games once I got into 3S. Dante in MVC3 had me thinking about playing some of the games and getting into the new one and of course…whiny babies screwing shit up.

I heard DMC2 had a pretty good story any way even though it was considered the clunker of the series.

More people are mad that the art director modeled Dante after himself. And how its being developed by Ninja Theory.

Edit: Doesn’t help the art director or w/e he is insulted the Old Dante.

Here’s a question. Who the fuck is sick of going backwards and dealing with prequels? I sure as shit am. How about concluding the story arch they already started? We already have a prequel explaining Dante’s younger self, we don’t need another one. I can’t stand the pussy/easily pleased who will take whatever Capcom throws in their direction.

See I can play that stupid game to.

I was hoping for a DMC5 starring only Nero and explaining his story more.
