buddy i am comparing that to gouken tatsu, and as for thunderbolt move dudley does superman punch drilling upsidedown and it does cross if done right.
If you read immortal’s post above me he states that thunberbolt is worse than gouken tatsu
Its also FADC able.
Sometimes I think some of you like to just look past any good Gouken has and just dwell on the bad non stop.
Does EX thunderbolt lock on the first hit and do 200 damage and throw them across the screen? Does any anti-air in the game do 200 damage and have the horizontal reach that EX tatsu does?
It is anti-air, it’s not wake up and save me. Use it as such and you’ll be a lot happier.

Yeah, why would you compare that to Tatsu? Two completely different types of moves. Of course something that comes from the top down hits crouchers.
I’ll believe Thunderbolt is some gdlk anti-air and ground attack combined into one when I see it.
Remember we had an awesome hit confirm and a kongo that was supposed to stop all air attacks.

Thunderbolt is not an overhead. And how you could say tatsu is the worst move is beyond me, it’s not great, but it’s FAR from useless. you’d be hard pressed to see a gouken that never uses tatsu, and if you don’t use the ex version then I feel sorry for you.
let’s see you only use it when it’s a sure hit, i.e. combo ending or something, if you whiff you eat a full ultra or worst, the punishment is too severe compared to the reward.
Watching JP SBO quals and it’s funny I’ve seen so many different characters in these in japan and america, sakura, blanka, vega, rose, gen, I haven’t seen any goukens in any of the sbo quals yet, and their wont be any on the jp stream now.
So using a move only in a combo is not useful, gotcha. I don’t disagree with you that tatsu kinda sucks, but you’re overstating how bad it is. it’s not the worst move in the game, but can be a pretty shitty move.
ok i might be exaggerating a bit, because i havent really played all the characters but comon you dont feel the recovery time for tatsu is ridiculous?? and yes a move that has limited options AND you can live without is pretty useless to me
oh it’s ridiculous, it’s like -102 fucking frames or some shit. Most ultras in the game have better recovery than this shit, and I agree it’s fucking dumb.
yup. i kinda want to hear the reasons why this move has so much recovery time from capcom? are they really intent for gouken to use this move for certain fixed situations only or something?

No but I’m sure some asshole stole my name, in fact if I remember correctly it was Wired. I came up with this name in Everquest on the pvp servers.
Also I cannot live without tatsu. Gouken would be way worse without it, just go back to Super or Vanilla when he had no anti-air but specific normals or praying to the kongo gods.
here is a jp tier list from a few months ago, it has guile as a matchup in goukens favor as well as Sagat, ryu, dhalsim, dan, hawk and el fuerte. The only good matches out those that I can maybe agree with are sim and hawk, and really i believe hawk they’re 5-5.
