It would be sick if we could use gens ultra 1 to have full fireball invincibility 
But nobody would use Ultra 2 then, since Mantis U1 travels faster than or as fast as Crane U2

As you know, if Gen gets CH during crane cr.HP startup he got 187.5% damage, so they removed that.

Iâm pretty sure Capcom uses the Family Guy-writer approach to changing Gen - they have a tank full of manatees picking stuff at random. At least one AA is improved, and you get possibly useful setups from HK gekiro. But the changes are really weird - Gen has four EX moves, three of them are so situational it would be fair to call them useless - and they change one of them, but it STILL isnât worth using? If roll was faster I could see it, but now, I donât knowâŚ
I think the ex-roll will be interesting. Imagine using it against Akuma and his diagonal fireballs.
well, I already often use normal one if I can see one coming

Yes! If u can control the distance of the ex-roll it is very well possible that you can ex past his fireball and recover in time to âgreetâ him with some gekiro! Isnât that exciting?

They wonât do that since they already stated in the dev posts from vanilla to super that they did not envision Gen to rely on 1 gimmick like that and it was not even supposed to be in the game. People who still cling to vanilla Gen are annoying, AE Gen is pretty fucking groovy and target combos+improved normals more than make up for his mk hand loops imo. And the fact he is still getting some buffs in AE2012 makes it even better. Maybe itâs because I come from Alpha 3 Gen but I enjoy him as a poke/footsie based character (with the occasion gimmick thrown in) a lot more than a character that relies on one combo loop the entire time. Not to say that vanilla Gen did not have decent normals and such, I felt people neglected his other aspects a little bit since mk hand loops were the shit back then.
But I must admit, I still feel envy whenever I see Hondas do jab hands jab hands, or jab hands roundhouse. And chun doing cr.short legs legs, and she can go for more than 4 hits, then they gain extreme meters. I am fine with him not having it tho.
Best way to solve this is making it so if you do EX Hands, c.Fierce, Sweep, or s.Round House that last hit (by the normal) builds decent meter. That way you are using meter with the intent that you are going to build some back. That seems like a good trade off compared to what Honda and Chun can do.
are you saying I am annoying? Iâm just saying that for me it was what I spent hours to do in training mode until I could do it. I just mentioned it for sake of the feeling i get when I remember those days. but far from it I prefer AE gen now alot than vanila, he is easier to combo with now.

I thought EX hands pushes back too. anyway I will give it a shot. I only use fadc combos mostly or I save it for TOD.
Honestly, I think his new combos are better than most of his old ones. The things I really miss are the old EX wall dive, his ridiculous meter gains, and the longer s.MK. However, he does have new strengths to make up for all of those. MK Hands sweep is the only combo I miss, but HK Gekiro causing a hard knockdown will be even better. 2012 will be the best version by a good margin, I think.
