what do you think about Ryu vs Gen in AE2012 ?
THEY GAVE RYU CR.MK like super !!! thats mean the start up for ryu will be 5 frames and the active frame 5 frames – Gen cr.mp(mantis) start up 5 frames and the active frame 4 frame !!! thats mean RYU will win this time

IIRC, they didnt revert the hurtbox back to how it was in super. Ryu’s cr mk still has a larger hurtbox than hitbox, and it can still be stuffed, so it shouldnt be that bad. And ROFL at the ryu whiners who hope their god “Daigo” will come back to Ryu with this change.

You know, I’m only worried about these buffs cause you guys say “at least he didn’t get nerfed”… well that’s true but almost nobody got nerfed going to 2012 except for Yun/Yang/Fei and almost all the other characters got plenty of more significant buffs. I will probably keep playing Gen because I like his design… but I agree with the consensus of ‘what were they thinking’?
Akuma got nerfed, C. Viper got nerfed and other characters as well…
Gen wasn’t THAT bad. I think the changes are kinda random compared to suggestions made by Gen players. But they may be better than we thought. So we can only say “At least it’s not nerfs” because 99% of the people posting here haven’t been to a loctest to give an honest opinion.
And there are a few characters that have nerfs. And really yun, yang and fei were really his only tricky tricky matches.

I hope the Jaguar Kick nerf makes it easily stuffable with normals.
I don’t think Gen was ‘bad’ persay. It’s just disappointing that a lot of characters I feel were stronger in general, like Abel, Ken, Balrog, etc… are getting even better buffs. I mean, yeah at least he’s getting something but to be fair… almost everyone is getting something so I don’t really see his placement relative to others getting higher. That being said, I don’t think anyone playing Gen at this point is a tier-whore and I will keep playing him anyways as well.
Wat. He’s considered lowtier or low midtier at best, and that is generous. How would one even consider someone playing Gen a tierwhore…

Just a little hyperbole, I know anyone playing Gen is not a tier whore. I was just saying it to mean I doubt any of us are going to drop him now, since he’s lowtier now and will probably remain low tier after 2012 update unless they give him better buffs.
I can’t express the excitement I have for the buffs already established. If nothing else they sound like they’ll make Gen much more fun to play. Gonna be trying to counter hit Mantis S.MP into Ultra 2 a lot when the update is out! Roll combos will be fun, too.
If they give him more stuff before the game is released, great, but even if they don’t, I’m a bit surprised some people think he’s still hovering around low tier.
i agree. i dont think he’s low tier now tho. i cant fathom that hes much worse off than mid tier at the moment

I similarly think he’s hovering around the middle of the tiers, and I also think he’ll rise in 2012, if only slightly. There are more characters that got nerfed than there are characters that got huge buffs.
I think people aren’t giving the changes he’s gotten enough credit because they aren’t generic ones such as “New BnB that does more damage/Builds more meter”. I never expected or wanted anything like that in the first place, I wanted them to buff Gen’s moves that aren’t used much, like Crane EX moves, Mantis U2, Crane C.HP, etc. I’m truly happy they’re doing that AND more.
Having a wide array of useful moves to choose from is Gen to me, not having universal TC2 HK Gekiro!
