Skolas is Void burn this week. That motherfucker is dead. I almost beat him last night- got him to a smidgen of health, but the Arc burn got us with the fucking wire rifle vandal sniper fucks. Not this week. Nothing shoots void in that battle, except me and my fire team.
Also, 365 Fatebringer and 365 Ghorn on a nightfall with Arc, Solar, and small arms? That’s one dead-ass Archon Priest.
The few times I’ve clicked on this thread and skimmed whatever current page it always seems like most of you are complaining about all the issues you guys have with the game yet still finding enough enjoyment to keep playing, I obviously don’t know what the game’s truly like as I only played the beta which I liked for the gun play, but disliked the world and mechanics outside of combat, but I just find it interesting that from what little I’ve read a lot of you guys have a love/hate relationship with the game.
I was interested in buying it until I heard about all the DLC nickel and diming, repetitiveness, and other issues of this game, I was expecting a GOTY edition on steam by now lol guess it’s not coming to PC oh well id Destiny 2 comes to PC I’ll probably cop it.
It’s not really nickel and diming. Hell, games like Evolve are the perfect example of nickel and diming. This game just has DLC packs. It was frustrating that the base game and the first dlc pack had little to do, but after House of Wolves, the game finally feels full. Again, it isn’t truly nickel and diming, but business shit.
Also, the most frustrating thing for people like me is the stupid light levels. However, once you understand how it works, it doesn’t feel shitty. And with the House of Wolves dlc, all future armor pieces come with their max light level, meaning I don’t have to grind out the levels after I’d already grinded out Crucible marks or what have you. Just one of the bigger issues that I had that got fixed, which makes me feel that the devs are listening, at least.
The main reason I still play it is that I liked the game from beta. It was like playing an MMO from the beginning, sort of growing up with it. Sure, I had issues with how it worked, but once I understood it, I started enjoying it.
It was, and there was also the fact that certain monsters and hunters were dlc only from launch, immediately dividing the community. Sure, Destiny has the DLC that’s required for progression, but it’s at least affordable.
There is no DLC in Evolve that is integral to the gameplay. It’s completely a matter of preference in hunters, monsters, and how you want them to look. I’ve bought one piece of DLC for that game (Crow, one of the DLC hunters) and I’m still having a blast with the game.
I’m not sure why people include Evolve when they list bad DLC practices. The only problem I have is how expensive glamour items are, which still doesn’t really effect me because I don’t care about them. How does this DLC “divide the community” when the people who have or don’t have DLC are still in the same pool of players?
Every Destiny player has a love/hate with the game because most of their mistakes are easily correctable, while others make you wonder how they were shortsighted enough to allow it to happen.
Like I said earlier, Bungie did t trust their game. They filled it with timesinks that drove the player base to grind endlessly for this or that. They’ve finally gotten the message that their game is fun and as long as they’re adding fresh content, people will play.
Destiny doesn’t nickel and dime though. Some may have negative opinions of the DLC, but there’s only been two since launch.
In a game like this, that’s a good thing. Stagnation will kill this type of game. There always needs to be the “carrot on a stick” to keep you interested.
I think the way they handle the DLC so far is fine. You don’t get left behind for not buying the expansions, which is surprising considering this is Activision we’re dealing with. I never thought they would make the Dark Below pvp maps open to everyone, they don’t do that for CoD.
The biggest issue for Destiny is that it revolves around loot. Sooner or later players are going to grow fatigued of it.
I thought about running a Nightfall this morning since I was up pretty early, but decided against it because I thought “I’ll just get some crappy Legendary I don’t want, buh”.
The more exotics you get, the more depressing the drops actually become since more than likely you already have it. Unless they plan on adding 50+ exotics in The Taken King, they need to make the game more about developing your character in ways that don’t revolve around loot.
yeah the loot is random from the NF but you may still want to run it 1st since you get a bonus to everything you do once its done.
There’s definitely a love/hate relationship with this game but id say about 90% of the hate I had was resolved the patches over the last few months.
1 DLC dropped around December for $20, another about 2 weeks ago for $20… not seeing nickle and diming.
We just got a new social area, new bounties, new arena, new pvp content and a lot more stuff to do with the latest DLC, not seeing the repetitive aspect anymore.
Wouldn’t keep my hopes up for a pc port, Bungie hasn’t released a pc game/port in since halo 2.
Id say this, if you like great gunplay, like roaming around planets as an astronaut warlock with a shotgun, like badass looking armor and guns. get this shit.
