I got to Crota with a 31, we didn’t finish but I don’t think that having a 31 was the deciding factor in our failure. Also we were running the old tactics which i don’t think really work in hard mode. I imagine you can easily clear up to crota with two 31s

This does look legit - probably the best strat posted anywhere so far b/c you don’t have to deal with the Ogres. Swordrunner has to be pro though. As a Hunter main, I had very minimal exposure to using it in normal mode - perhaps I’ll do a few normal Crota CPs to get it down.
Ive seen alot of the streamers now using this technique… seems to work. Hunter + Mida multi tool + hunter dance boots = speedy the strafer.
Why’d you have to say that? I was perfectly fine with skipping those this week. 
EDIT: Nevermind, its only movement while aiming. Thought it increased agility on top of that.

We tried middle platform on CE on normal last night. Seems to work pretty well because the left or right boomers can’t really get to you. You only have to worry if any straggler knights coming on to the platform.
I still haven’t beat Crota HM. I keep getting bad Swordbearers.
There have been zero credible reports of the Crux of Crota dropping, leading people to believe that it’s either not in the game yet, bugged, super rare, or requires some cryptic solution.
Bungies community manager confirmed on Reddit that the Crux is indeed in Crotas loot pool. It looks like it might just be the rarest drop in the game, or at least more rare than the Mythoclast.

Finally got a good swordbearer and we downed him in 3 swords. Got the scout rifle.

i got the auto rifle off the bridge HM, that is one bad ass fucking auto rifle, holy shit!!! also got boots for my titan, now all 3 of my toons can hit 32. i just need to farm glimmer to transfer energy to shards using eris.
I tried Hard mode for the first time. It went pretty smooth. We wiped once at the pit and about 6 or 7 times at Crota. I got the Auto Rifle and Pulse Rifle. Crota dropped the Helmet(which I already got from normal :’( )
I was the only one who didn’t get the Word of Crota. My luck with the Raid hand cannons is terrible. At least I finally have an Arc primary.
The team was 2 Void Walkers, 2 Defender Titans, 1 Gunslinger, 1 Blade Dancer(swordbearer). I was the swordbearer. Defender Titans had Blessing of Light, Blade Dance uses all invisibility skills.
We used the middle platform strat, with a small variation. Basically at the start, everyone weakens all the Knights so the Warlocks and Gunslingers use their supers to create orbs for the Defender Titans and Bladedancer(swordbearer).
We all gather at the middle window. As the Sword Knight is around half health, Blade Dancer pops his super, drops down, and activates his Vanish special just before picking up the sword. Swordbearer immediately goes up the right side and waits right next to crota. The team downs crota with rockets. Swordbeaer hits him 3 times, then drops the sword, blink strike crota to go invisible again, hits him 3 more times. Swordbearer carefully GTFO, go back inside to use orbs for health and super regen.
Crota rotates right and this is where the strat is different from the others.
The people on the middle window move to the left window. One Titan pops a bubble to protect from boomers and crota, after 30 secs the other Titan pops his bubble. Crota moves middle again, and you repeat the process. At this point you should have hit crota 12 times. The third sword will kill him. He enrages on hit 15 and dies on hit 18.
After the second sword, ogres spawn.
As soon as the second sword is done, the whole team goes under the right boomer tower and jumps on top of the door. The ogre spawns from that door and you murder him before he turns to shoot you, which takes about 8 seconds for him to turn, it’s plenty of time. From that room the second ogre is easily seen and dies pretty fast.
Defender Titan pops a bubble for Blessing, and the whole team heads back inside to wait for crota to rotate back middle. If you kill the ogres too fast crota will still be middle, if he is, wait, because he will move while you try to down him again and kill the people on the middle window. Once he’s back middle, it’s business as usual. He will enrage. Ignore the oversoul, down him again and he’s dead.
I was the swordbearer. It’s fun, but extremely stressful because you’re the only one in danger with this strat. You also have to trust your teammates damage output because you want to start hitting him as he starts his kneeling animation. I used Mask of the Third man for heals from orbs.
Here’s my kill on crota.
I know I laughed at this harder than I should have, but the point is that I laughed. Hard. DIRECTLY at it.
Is there any point to getting the crota raid gear? Is it good enough to justify the work? Just wondering.
EDIT: Also wondering if husk of the pit will be worth keeping. just got one.

I don’t consider the window method as cheese. You still need lots of coordination and planning. It’s more involved than the alternate strategies you can use on Templar, like oracle sniping or group cleansing.
I don’t think it should be patched, but that’s up to Bungie. IMO, cheese is something that trivializes the encounter.
It’s worth having elemental primaries for nightfalls. The crota primaries drop easier than VoG. The Auto Rifle and Scout Rifle seem to be the best of the bunch.
The Husk and the Eidolon Ally are bad. On paper, the Necrocasm looks underwhelming. I’m holding on to my Husk just because I want every exotic.
I have a feeling that next week we will see the Crux start to drop. My theory is the Glowhoo shader and the Crux share the same reward slot, and since the shader is 100% guaranteed on first completion, it overrides your chance for the Crux on your first go. That’s my guess.

I was just talking about something like this in a group I was in recently. I’m glad they don’t plan on repeating the same mistake concerning old raid gear. It didn’t affect me much and I do believe it was more forgiving than other MMOs, but w/ the way RNG works (especially with VOG at the time) some players did have a reason for complaints.
