You are only a few training mode sessions away from your dreams! Turn on the input display to make sure you are getting the plink as well every time. Honestly Sakura’s combos are probably the hardest in the game, but this is SF, and combos aren’t that bad, just a bit of practice that’s all.
Rugedman:Glad I could help.
Lets see if I can’t get some tips for the bosses going, whew boy.
The hardest part with the hp shou xx fadc, s.hp is making sure that dash forwards is really on frame one, I posted somewhere in here a ggxx tip for getting that.
You should still be holding down the first button when you press the second button in plinking. [Plinking thread]
I have no idea what the actual frame advantage for FADC’d shouken is since it’s not in the wiki, but it’s obviously very tight. I’ve only managed to pull it off once in training mode. I’ll keep trying…
Does it make a difference which hit of the shouken you cancel on?
The one time I got it to work I cancelled on the 3rd hit - but I’d imagine the hit stun would be the same for the 2nd hit - I was probably not doing myself any favours by rushing too much anyway.
Heh easy for you to say that My brain just can’t handle all of this, it’s an extra thing I have to think about ontop of the timing, it’s one or the other not both My HEX2 stick practically has plinking built in, dual button presses often end up looking like a plink
The combos you’re trying to pull off are the hardest, the standard links are probably the easiest links in the game
I’ve randomly got Heavy Shou > FADC > s.HP to work on both 2nd and 3rd hit, guessing there’s no difference between them. 1-frame (or 2 with plinking) to land it if you FADC “correctly”, that means it’s impossible if you don’t FADC right
Yeah I figured it would work on any hit, but the third hit is simply more damage, very little reason to do it earlier.
The combo was hard for me when I started practicing it too, but I realized how important it was, so I kept to it. Don’t think you will get it overnight, just every time you load up the game put in like 30 mins into training mode, and you will have it down sooner or later!
Heh, I feel your pain. Not only have I had a terrible time trying to get this combo down but I just realized that plink seems to only work with links from stronger to weaker attacks.
I’m not Destin and I certainly can’t pull this combo off but I think I understand the theory behind it pretty well so he can just correct me if what I’m about to write is wrong.
The FA is not supposed to hit - you should just be FADC’ing the shouoken. The inputs you’re trying to do should be (facing left):
By doing :l:~:l:+:mp:+:mk: you’re going to get a dash cancel. You’re buffering one forward tap and then when you press forward for the second time and MP+MK the game will combine it all to give you a dash cancel where you’re dashing on the first possible frame. The reason for is this that if you do it normally by pressing and holding MP+MK and then double-tapping forward then you’ll sit there charging the FA for a few frames before dashing which means you’ll no longer have the window to link anything afterwards.
Where I’ve written :hp:~:mp: that’s a plink. It means you should press HP fractionally before you press MP and in training mode on input display it will look like this if you do it right:
:mp::hp:
:hp:
If you’re getting just the one line with both inputs or two lines with a single button press on each then you’re doing it wrong.
Radar trap has it mostly perfect. I would say go to downback instead of down just because its easier to grab the angle, and for KK I use MK and HK so that if I don’t have meter it option selects to HK hurricane, but other than that, perfect!
The combo isn’t easy, so expect to have trouble with it for a bit, but it is just so powerful for the character. If she was in Arcades, I have no doubt you would see that shit popping up in Japanese matches.
I’m starting to get this combo but looking at Radar Traps explaination, is there a reason to plink HP and MP when going into lk tatsu and then EX tatsu?
Her bnb I do without plinking those together, is it bebeficial in this combo?
If you can already pull it off reliably without plinking then you might be better off not changing anything - but the idea is that any time you need to link a medium or heavy strength attack then plinking will double your chance of hitting it.
I plink for everything:
cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.HP~MP xx shunpu
cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.MK~LK xx shouoken
etc…
I think the most important part for the shou fadc to s.hp bnb is dashing out of that very first frame of the FA. You shouldn’t see her crouching at all, it should look like a regular dash.
BTW, InTheSak posted this thread which contains a video of the shou XX FADC, s.HP BNB combo in several variations. Destin you might wanna ask if you can link it in your guide.
If he could cut it to just have the B&B combos and such I would totally link it in. As is there is alot of fluff that I’m not ready to say is actually tournament level useful. It might be, but I haven’t messed around with it to see if it really is.
