I added some tips, not full fledged strategy yet for the original WW. Writing up the character versus section is really boring, so I will try to get around to it as I can.
keep it coming destin, this is all great stuff
and ditto on the one trick pony comment
Well if that’s the case then I say GOOD! Then they’ll feel even more stupid when they get caught up in the Shenanigans!.. and you’ll feel smarter hehe.
Who would I message to get this stickied, I would hate to see all this info go to waste.
At the bottom right-hand corner of the main sakura thread there’s a list of mods - any of them could do it :tup:
…Lots of characters in this game are linear -_-;
I don’t agree that she only has one play-style. Sure Shenanigans help out a lot in matches (ridiculously apparent in Sakura’s case), but that c.Forward -> SRK poke is friggin’ GDLK. I love her footsies game.
I’ve only just started playing Sakura and I’m likin’ what I’m seein’ so far <3 Thanks for the guide Destin =) By the way, you happen to have more Sakura match videos on YouTube or something? T.T;
I’ll second that request for more match vids :bgrin:
It would be great to see some of this stuff in action. The difficulty associated with using LK shunpu links and FADC’d shouken links as BnB is out of my league at the moment
I actually made a list of what works on who the other day after talking to Blue Flamingo. If you’d like the list, here it is:
[Ninja Edit]: To avoid confusion, these are the amounts of times you can use cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane links on certain characters and end with an ex.Hurricane.
3 cr.Fierce:
Balrog
Dhalsim
Abel
2 cr.Fierce 1 s.Short:
Cammy
E.Honda
Gouken
Akuma
Blanka
Rufus
El Fuerte
1 s.Fierce 1 cr.Fierce 1 s.Short:
Zangief
Sagat
Fei Long
Chun Li
Seth
Bison
Vega
C.Viper
Gen
2 cr.Fierce:
Guile
Rose
Sakura
1 cr.Fierce 1 s.Short: or 1 s.Fierce 1 cr.Fierce
Ryu
Ken
Dan
I’d love to see cr.Forward -> Shoryu xx FADC s.Fierce B&B in a video somewhere <3
What do you mean by that? When you write “2 cr.Fierce w/ s.Short” do you mean that you can do cr.HP xx qcb.LK, cr.HP xx qcb.LK, st.LK xx qcb.2K?
I don’t think any of my later matches were on video, but if I am around someone with recording software I will try and shake off the cobwebs and get some match vids to show you guys what I mean, and break it down.
For your list, cr.fierce, you actually mear cr.fierce lk tastu link x as many as you listed there? Never knew about that, important to know those is s.fierce has less pushback, so you may be able to get even more reps with that.
Edit:That guy above beat me to the question.
I guess I should’ve clarified.
3 cr.Fierce = cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane -> cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane -> cr.Fierce -> ex.Hurricane.
2 w/ short = cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane -> cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane -> s.Short -> ex.Hurricane.
and etc =)
Edit: FML -_-; I tried s.Fierce on characters I labeled 2.7ish and apparently it works. I need to rewrite this thing. Gimme a few minutes to post an even more detailed character specific list although memorizing all this might be way too much work T.T;
Edit again: Fixed list on page 2.
3 times? x_x;; Why is it that smaller characters (namely Sakura and Cammy) are easier to hit with Shunpuus and such than Ryu, Ken and Dan?
Should make a note of the damage and stun for comparison’s sake too.
Should make an effort to start with s.HP rather than c.HP as it seems to have less pushback, shame after one they’re usually too far back for close s.HP since it comes out a frame quicker than c.HP
I’ll have to have a play around with this x_x;;
I’ve been looking for a general category of which combos might work on which characters. Like how 3rd Strike grouped certain hit box characters together (Twins, Chicks, Fatties).
s.Fierce reduces initial pushback, s.cl.Forward reduces it even further. Pushback then gets reduced even further with a jump-in.
Jump-in reduces pushback huh, makes sense considering how low-standing characters can avoid EX Shunpuu combos sometimes
Suppose should include two sets of results for ones starting with jump-in in case it allows for the extra hit.
Should see how many times you can get c.MK xx LK Shunpuu to connect on the big characters since it’s the move with the least pushback that combos into LK Shunpuu
Look at the scaling. It’s pretty impractical TBQH =\ Not to mention your execution has to be 100%. The whole point of cr.Fierce -> lk.Hurricane loop is to deal the maximum amount of efficient damage.
And besides, this is Destin’s Advanced Play thread -_-; Enough derailing from me~
It’s not so much the damage you’re after but the extra stun, I started playing around against Abel and these are the numbers I got from it (including jump-in and ending with EX Shunpuu):
1 (c.HP) - 300 damage 480 stun
1 (s.HP) - 276 damage 440 stun
2 - 375 damage 574 stun
3 - 442 damage 664 stun
Took me a while to get the value for the 3 c.HPs since as you said execution is a bit of an issue, it’s a 1-frame link or 2-frames if you’re good at plinking making it a real pain
If this is how you are thinking now, then this thread was worth it and you are one step closer to being a good sakura player.
pat and mark have one
It’s one thing to know how to do this stuff but quite another to actually be able to do it
If I could do the Light Shunpuu links 100% of the time I wouldn’t hessitate the abuse the shit out of them
Destin thanks for the refresher and some sometimes I go back to bad habits and a good read like this really helps thank you very much.
