I actually managed to figure it out the other day, I ended up dropping that blue stone above the staircase (along the thing pathway) on the way to the Maneaters. Got picked up by someone, helped kill Maneaters, then about 15 minutes later, had to kill the guy 
Got the headpiece, too! So awesome looking, that giant yellow tornado.
