got the lightning spear and cleared sen’s fortress. im liking elemental weapons, the lightning spear, a “fast” weapon, outdamages my gravelord sword (255 attack), which is a “slow” weapon. can’t wait to make my lightning estoc, thank god i got something to +10 before accidentally killing andre. looks like i’ll have to go the fire path if i want other baller weapons but thats okay, fire is good as well.
iron golem was easy once i realized there’s no reason to ever block anything (and have a pretty good chance of getting bumped off the tower to your death); i was able to run around him easily even with the onion knight armor (i look so ridiculous i love it), plus you can avoid everything by rolling thru his legs.
anor londo is so beautiful, the sight of actual RAILINGS on ledges brought a tear to my eye.
I was just in the depths (i entered from qualeeg’s domain or whateve rher name is), where about is he? i cleared out the deapths up to the point where you come to a gold shinny wall and it says something about the lord and how i cannot pass. is it before that?
or alternatively where can i purchase/buy a weapon that allows me to cast pyromancy. it’s wack cause i have some pyromancy spells that i want to use but am not able to.
Enter the Depths from under Capra Demon/Firelink Shrine shortcut. Once you clear the Dredglings, Butcher, and Panther-looking things, it is on the left after the water you walk through. Beware of the Butcher above before running through if you haven’t killed him yet. Make sure not to kill the NPC in the barrel. Once you free him, he should hook you up in Firelink with everything you need including the Pyromancy Flame item you need to cast the spells.
The pyromancy guy is near the first Butcher in the Depths. Straight ahead of the first butcher is an area with some water and some dogs infected with the T-virus. Move past that area, and you’ll come to a hallway on the right. Once you enter the hallway, you can only go left or right. Go left, and be sure to roll to break the barrels. Also, if you join the chaos witch’s covenant she gives you an awesome spell. Just abandon covenant at the priest guy near the gargoyle fight so your last covenant doesn’t get pissed at you.
I finished Izalith and went to the final area. You can farm the hell out of the black knights there for all of the black knight weapons+shield. You also find their armor set in the area as well, plus they drop a titanite chunk of every kind, which can be kept as a chunk or fed to the serpent and turned into large titanite shards. I killed the chaos witch and got a fire keeper soul, then I killed the fire keeper in anor londo for another fire keeper soul, now my flask is +6. I joined the forest covenant, betrayed them instantly and killed some knight and got a curved, katana-like sword. I also killed all of the blacksmiths except for one. Not sure if I want to beat the game just yet or try and invade people for the dragon covenant/finish off the rest of the NPC’s.
It seems that to get a covenant to fully like you takes a ridiculous amount of time, except for maybe the Chaos Witch covenant. Chaos Witch accepts humanity to raise their fondness of you, which can be grinded easily, but the dragon covenant takes like 70 dragon scales or something stupid. there’s only like 7 per playthrough, and the only other way to get them is to invade people for them. Sunlight covenant requires an item you can only get when you help someone clear a boss in coop, and you need a shitload of them. Forest Covenant requires a bunch of items you get from defending the forest area, I think. Not sure what the Gravelord Covenant requires, but it’s probably crazy time-consuming too.
I don’t really see the point of maxing out a covenant. I’m about 15 dragon scales into path of the dragon and I’m stopping at 30 when I get the torso stone.
Just gotta kill four kings and Nito and I’m done. Only level 65 at the moment, gonna just go for it I think.
You can get also get Sunlight Medals from summoning Knight Solaire to boss fights. I think you can get around 7 each game like this (including the one from Lautrec).
Well maxing out Covenant gets you their items, gets you closer to Platinum/360 Score, as well as each Covenant’s bonuses. So pick and choose your reason why to join/level/max a Covenant
^ Haha yeah, main reason I want to max out each covenant is for the trophies. I plan to Platinum this game eventually. Only need 30 to max out each covenant? That’s not so bad, then. How do I summon Knight Solaire to boss fights? 30 Humanity/Dragon Scales/whatever the forest covenant and gravelord need doesn’t sound so bad.
Got to the very bottom of Blight Town (Lower / Swamp Area), got to the very bottom where there is nothing but swamp and those flying things keep spawning no matter how many times I kill them off in the distance. Thing is, I have no fuckin’ idea where to go from that point
Okay… Where EXACTLY is the skull lantern because I can’t find it and tomb of the giants is not going well with no light source. I don’t wanna grind 5 magic levels to use cast light and I can’t kill solaire at this point in the game so blah.
Poser, facing AWAY from where you came from ( as in the side with the upper part of blighttown), head alllllll the way to the right. You should see a mountain with trees sticking out of it.
Wait, you are there already. Join the spider covenant, go back to izalith and explore the ruins. You’ll find some enemies past the titanite demon that has these hoppy spider things that don’t even attack. Those also drop the hat that gives off light.
Gravelord covenant requires grave eyes. I like that no one knows what the undead hand things does yet.
Last night while exploring the Depths, I was invaded three times, two by other players, and one that I’m pretty sure was an NPC (I think his name was Darkwraith Kirk or something to that effect). The NPC dropped a spiked shield after I defeated him.
You don’t see the really amazing shit till much later. Theres some really big AOE spells, a toxic inducing spell, a spell that makes all characters within a certain radius of the caster REALLY heavy, so unless you were already really heavy, you are just completely screwed, etc.
Man, I think I need some help. Hopefully some of you are DS Wizards and can give me some helpful advice.
I recently rang the second bell, and I assume the next step is to go to Sen’s Fortress. Have tried a few times but keep getting beaten to hell by the mage serpentheads. Putting that aside I’m also trying to conquer the return to the Asylum, but I just cannot seem to take down that freaking demon inside.
I’m using the Drake Sword, a plus…9…Kite shield I think, and the crimson cloak armor set. I’m soul level 35, pyromancer. >_> Any advice? Maybe good places to grind, strategies to beat the demon?
Also is the Hydra in Ash Lake worth beating? Went down there, ran like hell, got to the dragon, decided I wanted to stay in a covenant with the Daughter of Chaos, and just ran back…
Either that or wear heavily poison resistant armor. You should have picked up the ninja armor while climbing down the railings depending on what entrance you took, that set has good poison resistance. You’ll still need poison cures, but just won’t need them as often. There is a merchant that sells them too, you can reach her from the area right after the Capra demon.
There’s plenty of stuff you can do before Sen’s Fortress. The general paths are:
Undead Burg/Parish > Depths(sewers) > Blighttown > Quelaag’s Domain > Demon whateverit’scalled
____________________________________________________________ > or if you join covenant you get Izalith shortcut I think
Cemetery near Firelink > Catacombs > Tomb of Giants
New Londo which also has a path to Blighttown > Not sure what else as I haven’t been down here yet.
