Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

You must be new here, lol.

And if that titanite demon is the hardest part of Darkroot, I might just do that next since I can run past him easily enough anyway.

i know right. the ring you get from her is pretty interesting. if you wear it and someone is killing people in the forest you will be summoned as a black phantom to defend.

how do you get the blacksmith by the titanite demon to do ascension, i tried giving him some special material i got from a boss, but he said i need to find another blacksmith to work with it? im assuming i need to give him something but im not sure where to find it?

Farm the rats in the depths. I think it is well worth it if you do. You can also farm the slimes as they drop shards to upgrade weapons and armor.

I’m not really sure what sin is, but I know that if you speak to that NPC in the gargoyle bell tower, there are options to break from your current covenant, as well as absolve you from sin (I’m guessing NPC hostility is one consequence of sin).

Whtas up with this curse crap. Are The only ways to get rid of it are what that message states when you first get cursed?

To get weapons past +10 you need a special ember. Boss souls and some special upgrades like that can only be used on +10 weapons.

Those are pretty much the areas I have left too. I’m kind of fucking around in the londo ruins, but I keep going into a room that is glitched or something and there is no way out but dying. It is the door with the white fog and the spiraling staircase downward. Nothing spawns in there and there is no way out. Wow, just found out. That is some bullshit, From Software!

I’ve been using a light sword since the beginning, and most of the enemies I’ve been fighting have been ignoring hit stun. The few that don’t are the normal scrub enemies that won’t wear any armor. If you are going str, you should make a sword to take advantage of that. I haven’t even hit 40 dex and I have lots of weapons that outdo the drake sword. My current build is wanderer, SL 56 str 20/dex 34/end 38, with my equip being Q.'s sword +5/gold trimmed black cloak stuff (siiiiick defense for the weight)/mask of the child (increased stamina regen/knight shield/ and now a ring of steel protection (was using havels until I recently got my end high enough that I was under the 25% limit) and the greedy snake ring. If you want a dex weapon then falchion is probably your best bet. Drops from skeletons, or I think you can find one in the catacombs. Get that shit up to +10 then convert it to Q.'s furysword like I did.

gravelord covenant

Spoiler

The gravelord covenant is in the catacombs. In that one hallway where the titanite demon is at the end, there should be a lot of coffins. One of them will be one you can rest in-- hop in and chill for a minute or two, and you’ll trigger a cutscene that takes you to a new area where you can seal the pact. You get a sword there that might be better than your current, since the base stat is 255 with a small bonus to str.

Most of the str-priority weapons I’m seeing cap out at 12/13 dex. Faith depends on what you want to use, since not many weapon-weapons have faith requirements.

The best place to farm green titanite shards are the leeches at the bottom of blight town, since they drop them in stacks of 5. But green titanite sucks unless you are doing a faith/int build, since divine weapons wreck the scaling on str/dex.

You got homeboy up in the bell tower after you defeat the two gargoyles to cure curse. Gonna cost you 3000 souls.

Man, fuck this game!
Normally when I got shit to do, before I start my day I’d just get on for the hell of it and grind for 30 minutes. Fuckin’ eat my breakfast, and then play some Dark Souls.

Any boss fight with more than one enemy is bullshit.

i see.

what about getting the right to kindle or something? it’s a trophy and seems like something you should get quick in the game but i have yet to get it…anyone got the word on this?

i finally got the drake sword because you guys were praising it so much, however, i cant even wield it because my focus is mage (although i melee a lot too) hahaha. i dont know if you guys found the catalyst that doubles as a javelin but it’s so sick. i hope there are more badass sorcery weapons. right now the javelin and the catalyst are the only 2 ive found.

i find myself often thinking about the game at work and what im going to try and tackle next. too beastly!

That you get from beating the boss in the catacombs.

I think I might be done. I don’t want to do anything of the things that I’m supposed to do. Maybe I should just let it cool off for a while.

Stabby, that room isn’t a dead-end. I thought it was too, but you equip the ring you get from killing Sif, the wolf boss, the one that lets you enter the “abyss” then you go all the way down those stairs and purposely fall off. Then, you’re in what is arguably the hardest and most fun boss fight in the game(the 4 kings.) I loved the boss fight. Yeah I know, how the fuck are you supposed to know that shit? Well, in The Duke’s Archives, you enter the boss room, and you’re forced to die. Then, to actually fight that boss in the Duke’s Archives, you have to go to the next fucking area, the Crystal Caves. What the fuck? I had to research all of this shit to know what the fuck to do next. Also, when you do eventually fight this boss, Seath the Scaleless, chop off his tail for the Moonlit Greatsword(caster weapon, you’d probably love this weapon, HeaT.) That Furysword sounds cool, what materials did you use to get it to +10? Also, know any awesome 1H swords that get the biggest boost from strength? I haven’t found any. I’m tempted to upgrade my Ghost Shotel or whatever it’s called, it’s only a 140 damage but it’s one of the fastest weapons in the game, and if I get it to +10 and can upgrade it into some unique weapon like that fury one you made, it could potentially be worth it. Anyway, if you have trouble with the 4 kings let me know, I have an awesome strategy for them that worked the first time I tried it.

HeaT: I always think about the game too, typically when I’m really into an addictive game it’s the first thing I think about when I wake up and last thing I think about when I go to sleep. I pretty much don’t want to do anything else. Game’s too good. Also, there are other Blacksmiths that’ll take the ember(s) the Blacksmith near the titanite demon won’t. There’s one in New Londo, one in the Catacombs and one in Anor Londo.

Oh, fuck. So it’s like that?

Are the messages on the ground well structured enough to where you can leave a strong hint to imply this objective?
I know those messages have helped me a fuck load, even the simplest examples.

Think I was in the sewer some place, and read a message on the ground saying something like, “Be wary of Up” and right then and there I back dashed after reading that message. Next thing I know, some blob thing falls from the ceiling, only to find out that those things fuckin’ hit you hard and I was basically about to die.

PRAISE THE SUN!!!

Knights in the Darkroot Forest have exhaust! Bullshit!

Also is there any significance to these praise the sun messages? I thought they were places to look out for summoner icons for whatshisface sun knight, but I haven’t seen any around those spots.

EDIT: nvm those stone knights are super free. Just ran around it in a circle, and just circle strafed backwards for the exhaust. As long as the trees didn’t bug me, free farm.

ya that’s what it was! some ember that he wouldnt use. also that sword sound pimp, hopefully i can cut off it’s tail with magic, if not ill have to work my javelin melee skills. im in blighttown or whatever it’s called right now, so once i finish that i will head to catacombs.

Furysword is fire damage for like 260, and most enemies dont’ have high fire resistance. You can only raise custom weapons to +5, and that one you get by raising a falchion, scimitar, or other sword like that to +10 then buffing with Queeqag’s soul. The sword you get from Sif’s soul is amazing, but the requirements for it are like 20 in each stat including faith and magic. Unless strength weapons get a bonus to staggering/hitstun, dex builds seem way better-- especially since you can get good fire/lightning damage from them, as well as having the big damage buffs on bows.

I think the best bonus I saw on a big sword for strength was a B on demon’s sword (the type the capra demon has) which you can get from the demon ruins area. A strategy for the kings would be amazing. I don’t want to do that fight, that purple homing fireball is some bullshit. The archives enemies are too strong for their soul rewards, and I’m tired of fighting dino butts in izalith. :frowning:

How much is the base damage on Furysword?

Is that the normal or True version of the sword?

OK nevermind that place, butterfly is taking 11 damage from my magic missle thingy and it just one shot me when I tried to dodge. Which I tried because blocking with a shield that was supposed to have good magic resist took off half of my life. So I guess now I try the depths, which are supposed to be harder? I’m clearly doing SOMETHING wrong in terms of leveling or equipment.

I’ve been following the “guide” that I posted last page.

Debatable on which is the best path to take, but so far it’s been working fine for me.

I only got to play this game for 2 days but I managed to beat Gaping Dragon and get the axe. I was pretty happy looking at the stats (360 damage) but it requires 50 strength just to wield it. So far I’ve been building more towards pyromancy. I probably wont’ get to play again for 2 weeks but I was wondering where the Chaos Covenant is. I heard you get the best pyro spells from the person there. Also if you finish one covenant, can you just quit it and go to another one, that is if you didn’t already screw them over? I sort of can’t wait to get back and actually finish Blighttown. I seriously got annoyed by all the poison and decided to actually spend souls on some poison moss since you seriously need like 9 flasks just to heal through a poison.
