Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Hmm, I’m not sure. It’s possible the game just gives you humanity as you progress through it. I’ve had random humanity gives as well, but it only happens in areas I’m visiting for the first time.

It’s also possible that some enemy jumped off a cliff or something and gave you some humanity for being around him when he died.

Is it suppose to lead me to blue dragons? o.O The gate at the end looks locked too.

Beat that fucking Gargoyle FUCK YO COUCH

I’ll figure out where to go next in the morning, thought that bell was gonna open the big gate near that fat knight but that wasn’t it. I’m gonna guess Capra demon after this, if I’m wrong respond and be like no ur dumb lol. Only other way I can figure to go is past that lightning bolt throwing thing (or beat him?) and into Darkroot.

Yup. You are still heading left-- don’t cross the bridge with all the assholes on the other side. There should be a thin path that runs along the cliff.

One of the keys to mastering this game is knowing when to run past shit and when to fight.

I’m liking magic wep/shield for tough enemies. Anyone know if you get a longer duration version later on?

or does intelligence effect the duration?

Made it! Thanks! That dragon though was beast, does he drop anything nice if you take him down?

A dragon scale and some (10k?) souls. I think? Its been a while and I honestly can’t remember, I just know it isn’t anything amazing.

changed the thread title for lulz, actually that’s how i’m feeling right about now. after clearing up pretty much all of the undead parish, i worked my way down to the darkroot basin and got the shit kicked out of me by ice monsters or something. do they have any kind of weakness?

Yeah, not fighting them ever. They are one of those enemies that are not worth the effort.

There are two directions you can go, to Capra demon or to Darkroot, you can go to either.

Honestly the Titanite demon is the hardest part of Darkroot, he’s the guy you mentioned, it isn’t a hard place overall.

just beat the carpa demon. he got me a few times, but i found a good way to take care of him.

spoiler Alert

when you start the battle roll to the right instead of next to the stairs. I tried rolling toward the stairs and got stuck from the dogs. once you run up the stairs and kill the dogs it becomes pretty simple. What i did was run up the stairs and let the demon follow me up, i would get to the top and walk to the left and drop down.Once the demon was up there he would jump down. Hit him, and run back up the stairs, and repeat until hes vanquished.

Stubby, you beat the Duke’s Archives yet? Any idea how to get to the correct location of the boss? It seems the way I got to him was the incorrect way, in that I can’t even reach him to melee. I also couldn’t figure out how to travel down the Crystal Caves, I got near the butterfly but it looks like a dead end after that.

I only have a few areas left to clear. Duke’s Archives, Crystal Caves, Tomb of the Giants and Lost Izalith. I’m still using the Drake Sword, have it upgraded to +4. I think I might join the Dragon Covenant soon just so I can invade somebody, kill them and get a Drake Scale to upgrade my Drake Sword to +5. I’ve been dumping points into strength to use the Dragon Greatsword, but then I messed around with a normal greatsword-style weapon and it’s too slow for my tastes. Gonna stick with my Drake Sword for now, until I find a Shotel-like weapon that’s worth upgrading or something. They’re some of the fastest weapons in the game, I used one in my 4 or so Demon’s Souls playthrough. What they lack in raw damage they make up for in crazy speed and constant hitstun on enemies.

Thanks for the help, Spooty/HeaT. I finally found that one merchant, dude was under the bridge near firelink. It’s a potential death each time you go visit him, lol. I also talked to that cat and found the forest covenant, can’t believe of all the time I’ve spent in that are that I never noticed that cat until you pointed it out, HeaT.

Killed the Gaping Dragon but I forgot to break off the tail… That axe would have been pretty damn awesome.

if its the area im thinking of you can run around and get the ice monsters killed by the hydra (the thing thats constantly firing giant [S]jizz[/S] water balls at you). just get ~3 steps behind a rock, guard, and the water balls should kill any ice monsters attacking you.

i unlocked the forest farming area today. even after seeing the video i didnt believe it was that dumb or easy…but nooope i was wrong it really is. after getting a couple of undeserved levels ive decided not to abuse it (too much)

couple of dumb questions:

  • where do i go to upgrade weapons past +10?
  • what’s this “sin” thing happens when i break a covenant? i heard theres a baller sword you get if you join the covenant in the catacombs, but i already joined way of white early on to get the heal spell. i’m always up for getting new weapons, but not if it screws over my character.

today i found a nice suit of heavy armor and discovered the joy of super armoring through ummmmmmmm pretty much everything and 1 shotting stuff with a 2 hander (currently using black knight halberd). nice change of pace from my usual “lightest armor possible die in 1 hit but WOULD YA LOOK AT THAT RUN SPEED” setup.

just out of curiosity what armor/setup is everyone using?

^ What/where is the covenant in the Catcombs? Didn’t know there was one. Also, how do I level up my Sunlight Covenant(starting covenant?) Do I just help others kill bosses?

My setup is Haval’s helmet+armor, Scough’s gloves and leggings, Drake Sword +4, Knight Shield +6 with my only miracle being heal. I use Haval’s ring to reduce my equip burden(let’s me wear heavy as hell armor and still be able to roll around/run at full speed) and a ring that gives Stamina, Health and I think increased equip burden as well. Soul level 76 or so, with only a few bosses left. I have 40 in Endurance for the cap(I recommend everyone to get 40 End ASAP if you’re melee for the max stamina and increased equip burden) 35 strength(want to get 50 so I can equip heavy weapons and shields) 25 vit(i’ll increase this more eventually) with only 15 dex, which I also plan to increase soon.

Does the guide identify which weapon is the best for each class by the end of the game? I just wanted to know the dex/faith minimum for some weapons so I can pile the rest on top of strength.

Man longest fucking work day ever. I wanna go home and play! Just finished Sen’s castle and it pissed me of to no end. I BEAT the boss and was sitting on almost 40k souls, and decided to go check out the bridge beside the entrance to the boss. I somehow fell off, then died on my way back up. All to explore nothing. Damn my sense of adventure.

I was watching some of that dsp guy’s walkthrough. Serious question, is that guy mentally retarded?

Beat the Gaping Dragon and found out Best Buy will be shipping me the Collector’s Edition to make up for their mistake. Things getting better and better.

I managed to open the forest gate, but I got rocked by a ghost enemy? Can I attack it? I heard you just can’t lock on to ghosts or something…

The stealthed guys are annoying, but what I did was lure them to the cliff and kick them off. Sometimes they’ll roll and kill themselves. I know that one of the armored knights (the one that gives you 3000 souls) won’t respawn after he’s dead. Watch out for the stealthed assassin, he’ll try to get behind you for a backstab. That area is not just good for farming.

[details=Spoiler]There’s a Covenant that will let you walk through the area freely, and you’ll get a ring from the leader that will let you auto-invade anyone in the area. You can also find some armor sets; one of them is surrounded by those tree guys, who are a bit stronger here. Try not to fight too many of them at once. I saw what appears to be a huge gate across a bridge, but I didn’t go there. I was afraid I was going to get ambushed or something. I don’t know what else is around there, there’s plenty of stuff to explore.

Here’s some information regarding the bird at the asylum who wants warm and soft items, for anyone who’s not sure what to do:

[details=Spoiler]You can give the bird a variety of items and they will be traded for things like material for upgrading. So far, I’ve given her the following:

Cracked Red Orb
Twinkling Titanite
All of the different mosses
The item that lets you check how deep a hole is (forgot the name)

It seems you can give her Twin Humanities, but I wasn’t willing to give it up. I found a single humanity, so I’ll give that to her and see what I get from it.
