Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Where’s the Forest Covenant? Also, does the merchant at the door to Blighttown in the Depths move to a different area or something? I “absolved” my sins and that dude disappeared. I have no idea where he is.

I beat 3 bosses in the Demon’s Ruins today, explored the Duke’s Archives(seems like you’re forced to die at the boss here, but for some reason I couldn’t find my way back to the boss. Ended up exploring the hell out of the area and getting some decent items. I’ll go back there soon, then I’ll try to explore Crystal Caves as well. I had like 3 giant ice golems chasing me as I was on my down there, so I ran back into the Duke’s Archives.

I got The Four King’s down to 30% health and died, though I have a strategy for when I fight them later/tomorrow. Pop the increased stamina regen herb the second the boss fight starts, then go 2-Handed to try and dish out as much damage as possible. The bosses damage you even if you’re blocking and are using a 100% block shield, the only time you want to use your shield is when getting in close to one of them. The second your in, go 2-hand and make it rain. I’m also going to use some Humanity to heal on top of my 10 flasks, since I got them down to 30% with just flasks, using a humanity or two to heal should let me beat that boss fight.

He moves to the Firelink Shrine after you beat the Gaping Dragon and move on to Blighttown. Look towards the entrance to the Undead Burg.

That merchant is cool because he sells armor sets from some of the bosses (only after you have killed the boss).

if you bought the key from the blacksmith to open up that forest area where you can farm souls. well in that area after you enter that door stick to the left side of the cliff and you’ll come to a little ruin that transitions you into the next area. in that little ruin area before you take the stairs there is a cat in the window of a wall. talk to her.

Is there anywhere else to buy those healing miracles besides the cleric at Firelink? I didn’t have the souls for it last time, and I’m really starting to wish I had some healing besides just the flasks.

EDIT: saved near the cathedral in Undead Parish right now, if that helps.

Just use the elevator in the church to go back to Firelink Shrine.

Who’s using the Wanderer? I would like to know what kind of equipment you’re using. I’m using the Balder Side Sword and Leather gear, and my shield is the Grass Crest Shield.

Also, I remember seeing this huge black knight with a massive shield in the Undead Burg church, but I don’t know where he ran off to. I definitely didn’t kill him. Did anyone else see this knight?

Run straight to the cathedral, into the nearest door, running straight forward into place with two gates. One will open and take you to firelink.

Don’t turn at all.

elevator

Spoiler

step off the elevator just before it reaches the ground and walk to the right, jump to the broken tower and climb up the stairs to the bird’s nest to return to the Asylum for more loot.

I’m using the Drake Sword, Knight Shield with a Chain Helm, Hollow Soldier Armor(?), Warrior Manchette, and Black Leather Boots.

I’ve heard about that glitch… Apparently, if you aggro the knight and don’t kill him, he’ll disappear. I killed him during my encounter so, I didn’t have that problem.

What’s the best looking shield in the game that functions similarly/better than Black Knight’s?

Maybe?

Spoiler

I’ve had it since I killed the first one by the HP low/defense ring and I’m getting tired of how it looks ~_~

This game is so amazing, it has lived up to Demon Souls and surpassed it in many ways. My only issue with the game is slowdowns, at first it didn’t matter but I was in the sewers and was being chased by rats and I swear the game turned into a slide show. Demon Souls had slowdowns but never that bad, all PS3’s have hard drives yet there is no install option. I know Bayonetta got a patch on the ps3 with an install option, I hope From Software considers the idea.

Quick question: What does my STR stats need to be at to effectively wield the Drake Sword one-handed?

Also where is a good place to go and/or farm souls after taking down the Taurus Demon? I’m guessing underneath the bridge where those Poison rats hang out…fuck them and their status effects on one hit.

Only thing that really matters on a shield is it blocking 100% physical. Magic/Lightning/Fire are always going to get some damage in, and if you need something special for an irritating place, then just switch out.

You guys using the drake sword, don’t forget to make a +10 weapon in your primary stat when you can. You’ll probably outdo the damage on the DS through the stat bonuses.

I think it’s 16. I’m working on farming souls to level it up myself. I think you can shoot that bridge dragon’s tail and have him kill those dudes up on the bridge for 300 souls a pop. Did it like 3 times in a row though and he randomly stopped killing them. Don’t know if it’s on purpose so you cant farm or what.

Interesting, thanks for the help. I only plan to use it in emergency situations really, I am enjoying my Shield/Spear combo and keepaway game right now.

The way I did it was using the bonfire near the beginning, I’d run up to the bridge where the dragon was, do a real quick cricle in the center in the middle of the skeletons, then run down the stairs before it decides to breathe fire and kill all the enemies. Then I’d drop down to the bonfire and repeat ad nauseum. (Only did this until I had enough for the 20k souls to get the key to use the other farming area.)

The only good place for soul farming that I found early was the cathedral, and that place’s soul rate quickly becomes insignificant. It’s still good for grinding before the boss in the cathedral, though.

Where do you get these magic weapons at? I get raped by them in PvP. And these guys who rape me have this nasty looking dragon armor.

You have to get certain embers and give them to the smiths.

New Londo smith gives magic upgrades, old chapel smith gives divine upgrades, catacombs smith gives fire upgrades.

Ahh I’ve been giving my embers to the smith guy at the old chapel by the forest. I hope it doesn’t matter who I give my embers too cause I thought they shared the same work bench o.O lmao
