Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Just finished in the depths… Holy shit do I love this game. Got invaded down there while I was fighting off some rats and it was one of the most intense moments in a video game of my life. I took care of the guy pretty convincingly too, despite the rats. Anyone know how to get back to firelink quickly? Only way out of here I see is to blighttown which I don’t wanna explore yet.

Edit: Nevermind found it. Doorway leading up back by the merchant.

Anyone know where to get a bow, so i can get that drake sword? All i’m getting is crossbows

Merchant past the 2 spear soldiers in Undead Burg sells a shortbow for 1000 and arrows for 3 souls - 15 souls per arrow depending on the quality you get.

What’s with the soul drops varying? I was killing these beginning dudes for 50 souls and it then jumped to giving me 60. When it jumped to 60, I noticed that it only gave me that if they were unaware of my presence when I killed them. Really strange.

Critical hits (Backstabs Parry/riposte Counterhits) raise the value of the enemies. It encourages parrying and strafing to get souls faster instead of mashing R1 till it falls over. Been like that since Demon’s Souls.

I’ve parried and backstabbed, but never noticed a soul gain. I was just shooting guys with magic missle from a distance. It didn’t start doing that until I hit a certain level, which is really odd.

Any tips on fighting the Capra Demon? That room is so small and he got his little bitch dogs running around with his sword taking up the whole screen. Couldnt dodge anything, i would walk in and just proceeded to get raped…

You gotta get past him and run up the stairs, take out the dogs while he’s making his way up to you then roll off the side to get back to open space. If you keep close to him, you can block most of his attacks… At least I could, I chose Knight.

Anyone been past Pinwheel yet? Just lost 10k souls and 3 humanity down there and seriously considering just calling it a loss, don’t think I’ll get out of there alive.

I did the same thing as Luna, I took the dogs out first while making my way up the stairs on the left. But I actually did the jump down slash drop on the Demon and ran back up and repeated it until he died. Cause of that fight I now run around in any boss fight to find out what space, ledges, height, etc I can use to fight them.

edit: So with Humanity points, would you guys convert to normal mode or kindle the camp fires? Any other uses for humanity other than that?

You have to be human to kindle the bonfires anyway…I’m pretty sure anyways

Thanks, that worked wonders.

oh ok! i assumed the key from the butterfly opened that shizzle, i guess i didnt pay close attention to the names of the keys.

has anyone been through the valley of the drakes? that shit is pretty serious.

im outi

SF-Zero2 is right. You have to be human before you can kindle a bonfire.

On your first playthrough, kindle all the bonfires that you can. When you go to NewGame+, the bonfires will still be kindled. Plus, chances are you were just going to die and lose Humanity anyways.

The reason you should stock Humanity (not the item, but the counter beside your HP) is because your Item Find stat goes up by 20 for every Humanity you have stocked. It starts at 100 and I believe it can go to 240.

You don’t need to make any Divine weapons. Astora’s Straight Sword starts as a Divine weapon. So, just use that one and don’t ruin any of your weapons.

So I get some invasion message while knee deep in fighting and can’t deal, so I try to unplug my internet connection. Little did I know that it would save and exit. When I started back up, he poofed in front of me and started attacking. Does the ai take over or something? I also tried a a summon thing that was still on the floor and the computer was playing the guy’s character.

And holy shit, I don’t even want to know what that gigantic, multi-headed thing was in the forest O_O

So I’m starting out as a Priest (high faith) I’m currently in mostly chain mail with Astora’s sword and the dragon shield from the valley of the drakes… I ran in there, grabbed em up, died to the dragon after spending all my souls and took that loss with a smile. I’m in the undead burg now, I can one hit most of the monsters but there’s a huge black knight who rapes me and there’s the boss demon in a long narrow area where there’s skeletons shooting from the rooftop. Any advice on fighting this boss? I was thinking about going up the ladder and shooting from there but I have a feeling he can jump up to that area where the skeletons are (oh and I can’t find a bow, I have enough souls to buy one but I can’t figure out how to get back to the vendor I bought my chain mail armor from…)

Any and all advice is appreciated. I’m having a lot of fun and I sure am glad I can heal myself a lot more often

The Capra Demon is really holding me back right now… It wouldn’t be so hard if I could get to the stairs and assess the situation but, as soon as I walk in, one dog locks me down while the Capra Demon jumps on me. I can’t even find any common ground before I’m dead. I have 5000+ souls sitting right at the entrance too… :(.

@Silver Rain: Before getting to the boss, go up the ladder to your right and kill the enemies shooting arrows at you. After that go ahead and run across the bridge to spawn the boss (before this you can use a gold resin to give you a pretty modest attack boost if you picked it up in the treasure chest behind a door that can be opened with a residence key, I was able to hit close to 100 with just my beginning weapon.). Once the boss is spawned rush back to the ladder and climb up and wait for him. Once he’s very close to the edge, run off the edge and fire off an attack in mid-air. This is a weak-point for the boss and should do around 350 points of damage with the gold resin.

Without the resin, it’s probably advisable to do this a couple more times but with it, you should be able to keep the fight on the ground and take it out. Also, take advantage of the invincibility frames rolling gives you once you figure out a pattern to his attacks.

Capra demon is running up stairs and going all the way to the right and using a weapon that has a thrust attack instead of a slash so you can kill the dogs without banging into the wall. Make sure you have the best roll available to make it up the stairs(you need to be equipped with less than 25% of your max value, including side-boarded weapons/shields.)

I made it past pinwheel, but I’m not fucking with that area until I find a spell that generates light or an item that does.

And astora’s thing has a faith requirement of 14.

Ahh, it’s only 2 more than you already need (need 12 for Heal). Having Heal is necessary for online play, because you can’t use Flasks.

I’m not playing online because I can’t play with my SRK buddies. And 2 stat points is a big deal, bro. How about the light emitting spell/item? Also, how far into the game are you? I think I’m ahead of pretty much everyone but you and wintermute.

I only ask so much stuff because I’m afraid to look shit up myself for fear of spoilers.
