Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

What’s the proper guts build

Max out strength and endurance, then find a big sword, like every other standard melee build lol

Yea, like what Gasaraki, it depends on your location.

I will say, haven’t played the 360 version yet, but I can lay down a stone and get summoned in like 5 minutes no problem.

I can’t, not on xbox anyway.

Poise is knockback/flinch resistance.

Well, Demon Souls had one large server that put everyone on it, but you only saw people who were within +/- 10 levels of your level. Dark Souls has many small lobbies and, according to Bandai, you only see people who are +/- 10% of your level. So, maybe no one is close enough to your level, maybe they’re at a different point in the game, or they might not be Human. The main thing to take away is that the selection of players in any lobby is much smaller than it was in Demon Souls.

P.S. Thanks for the love guys. I researched the game so I didn’t miss anything important. Then I picked up a strategy guide

ooooooh, that would have been my guess but nice to know for sure. They must have added that to make tank builds good lol

Yep, I’ve fallen in love with the Rapier +5. Such a monster being able to block and strike at the same time. Plus not having to worry about hitting walls. Just can’t get blocked yourself.

I actually like the Estoc more. It’s almost the same but the blade is way longer, and it’s Strong attack has a really wide sweep instead of another thrust.

I’m gonna stick with the Drake Sword for a while. Only downside is it doesn’t receive any damage boosts from stats, which sucks. Once I find a similar one-handed sword with around the same damage, I’ll drop the Drake Sword and start upgrading it so I can have a weapon that benefits from str/dex.

I’m gonna dump points into Endurance until I hit 40 End(I’ve heard stamina caps at 40 endurance, and I love stamina.)

You won’t find a one-handed weapon with higher attack than a Dragon weapon. All the Dragon weapons have massive attack and no stat scaling.

well yeah but only in initial numbers. I already do more with my +8 scimitar than with Drake. Of course you can upgrade Drake Sword, but that’s way out of my price range.

Edit: what’s the point of the “raw” weapons. I noticed it removed the stat bonuses, so what does it actually do in the long run?

Raw weapons don’t really have a point except that they are the first upgrade you can do. At Raw+5 it will be stronger than a normal +10, but weaker than a normal +15, both of which you need to find an item for. So, you might do raw early in the game, but that’s it.

i dont even know if i can wield a crossbow LOL, maybe magic will work.

btw, imo so far it seems they really nerfed magic. im playing a mage build basically.

im outi

Anyone know where you can use the stones for invading(at work and forgot the name). Couldn’t use them in firelink shrine so I went wandering around the burg looking for a place and nothing. I was a hollow when I was trying,

Fuck the Undead Parish boss, this shit is man-eater all over again…

Summon the two available NPC helpers. Should make it much easier. I posted about them on the previous page.

Magic is definitely not nerfed. The only issue is how long it takes to reach the magic vendors in the game. You’re probably about 1/3 of the way through the game before you get the Pyro and Sorcery vendor. What really doesn’t make sense is how you can find the upper level magic vendors almost immediately after finding the normal vendors. Miracle is the only magic type where you have a vendor to start off with.

i just beated the Gargoyles by myself, i bought 10 firebombs from that one merchant and it worked wonders against them. Pretty much my problem throughout the whole fight was the 2nd gargoyle and firebombs just kicked his ass in no time.

lol wish i knew about that summon earlier, didnt know you can summon npcs…anyways good to know, thanks.

It’s a damn shame that the multiplayer for this game is even worse than it was before. All I wanted to do was play with my friend that lives not too far from me but we weren’t able to find each other. The same lobby requirement really kills it and it’s not very easy to land in the same spot even if you both enter the game at the same time, or one of you just quits and rejoins until you land on the same lobby… which mainly resulted in us wasting like 25 minutes of play time. We were the same soul level too.

I have a noob question, what’s that number ticker off to the side? Usually it’s 0 but I’ve got it as high as 3 before.

According to the manual, it’s the humanity meter?
