Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Also, I heard that the patch lets you buy an item to cure curses from a merchant since apparently being cursed turned out to be a huge problem. That bit of news came from GAF apparently. I don’t have the game yet, but maybe someone can confirm.

I know I said this already, but I platinumed Demon Souls and I feel the difficulty has been blown out of proportion. Yes the game is hard but so were most 8-16 bit games back in the day. It’s almost like new gen gamers frown at the idea of dying multiple times but to me once you get passed your personal challenges it is VERY rewarding. I can understand if the game doesn’t appeal to you in someway. :frowning:

Ah thanks for that. I guess getting my PS3 a week later will be beneficial since there are some more issues to iron out. Shoutouts to from software on the quick fixes.

Patch 1.01 was supposed to fix some online glitches, but it ended up corrupting save files and making online more glitchy. Patch 1.02 fixed the problems that 1.01 made. Patch 1.03 allowed the merchant near the sewers to sell the curse healing item.

The curse healing item was already in the game (and sold by a couple other merchants), but it was nowhere near the baddies that actually cursed you.

I’d agree that the game isn’t very difficult… Once you get the patterns down and you level up it’s really easy.

I’m breezing through the game just fine for the moment.
You can say it’s “as hard” as Demon Souls from what I’m experience. I’ve died twice so far, and only because I made like 1 or 2 simple mistakes. So yeah, shit still punishes you hard.

Ornstein and Smough

Never got a chance to play the first one, lookin forward to this. Any advice on picking a character, what kind of playstyles we’re dealing with?

The character type in the beginning basically determines if the early game will be hard or harder. In the end it doesn’t who you pick since there is no skill tree per say, just stat building. Get ready for some true dungeon crawling, 50 foot monsters and broken controllers.

No party chat is pretty ridiculous
Any more info on that?

Like if you’re in dark souls and your buddy is somewhere else, can they not talk to you?

It’s not the difficulty that bothers me, like retards like Spooty Whiteboy like to assume about people that don’t like Dark/Demons’ Souls. It’s just a drab and dull game. Devoid of life. Storyline is there, but it’s almost like it’s faint… invisible. There is no driving force.

“Three factions make the dragons go extinct, okay? Okay. Now, here’s a key to open your cell. Welcome to Dark Souls. ^_^”

Really?

I love you, MrQuotes.

Game’s not about story, though. It’s there if you look for it, but the core of both Souls games is Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. The drive of the game are the accomplishments of beating a difficult enemy or boss and constantly getting more powerful with each soul level/new item(kind of like most RPG’s.) It can’t be that devoid of life though, isn’t there a hub in this game and some merchants/characters you can interact with in the world? There were some pretty interesting characters in the last game.

If you don’t like the game, why torture yourself by continuing to play it? Shelve that shit and play something you enjoy.

Word. Sell the damn game so I can pick it up for cheap used…well hopefully.

There’s no Hub in Dark souls; it is slightly less full of human life than Demon Souls.

The game IS drab, lifeless, empty, and lonely. It’s not a game that caters to story and such. Yeah, a shitty story is there, but DS only cares about the game play experience. It really isn’t for everyone, but it’s fun to make fun of the people who don’t like it.

I don’t believe there is Voice chat anywhere in the game. Even if someone joins your game (or you join theirs), you still can’t talk. Demon/Dark Souls are not multiplayer games. They just aren’t. They are single player games where you can ask for help from a stranger, if you need it. From Software even went further with this idea in Dark Souls by splitting up lobbies into smaller groups, which makes it really hard to get into a game with a friend (unless you are lucky and are thrown into the same lobby as them).

i honestly dont give a crap about the story. i just enjoy the challenge and im glad how the game is the way it is. because majority of the games that been out recently is to dumb down and easy.

i remember the days where demon souls barely came out and a lot of people hated the game. now it got so much love.

Man I’m kinda confused as to where I’m supposed to head to first. I headed up the Undead Burb, but the boss was freaking nuts. Am I just sucking?

What weapon type is he weak to, if any?

Empty Souls, lol. Lovin’ the game. It’s an open empty world, I don’t even remember what I’m doing. I’m just going around fucking people up. People aren’t even using my stone to assist in boss battles.

Did you jump slash it’s head? I died to the one --> two gargoyle so many friggin times.

The Taurus? I was about to but he jumped up, which I didn’t expect so I was just screwed lol

Damn son, why you hatin’ so hard?
If you’re really gonna talk down on a story, I wouldn’t take your opinion from your perspective of that aspect from a game. Motha’ fucker, you love that dumb ass Disgaea series, you got no room to talk about plot.

Hey, yo, yo, everyone get this…

About Disgaea ending

Spoiler

Your father is the first boss of the game that was treated like comic relief the entire time. Never does it hint this in the progression of the plot

THAT SOME DEEP SHIT RIGHT THERE!!

I would hope people would have an answer here by now.
I’m kind of lost myself :x

Me too. I’m fighting another boss, but I don’t have any arrows and I don’t know where any are and I don’t see a way to damage this boss without them. The only other direction I can find has a dragon that doesn’t like me enough to let me proceed.
