Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Where is the Cling Ring?

EDIT: Just killed the Dragon, is his soul used for anything? If not I’m gonna consume the bad boy…

EDIT2: Nm, found a guide on it. Can’t believe I missed it…

hmm I fought the Phalanx a completely different way than the guide did. What I did was pick off the single slimes, 1 hit kill from the back and just kept doing it until the boss only had like 2 slime on him then it was guaranteed victory from there.

yeah tower knight wasn’t too bad, if you know what to do. I feel kind of dirty looking up how to beat him before even fighting him.

Tower Knight pissed me off so much lol.

For the 1-1 boss, I just used turpentine and used anything with a wide horizontal attack arc.

There were a few bosses where I spent more than 30 mins just to kill; two of them come to mind =\

The Demons Souls wiki is a great resource, but like I’ve been saying all along the game will be much more fun if you don’t use it and explore on your own. In many games, using a walkthrough or guide to help you get past a difficult part doesn’t necessarily change the experience of the game much for you, and just helps get past really frustrating segments where you are not having fun. The basic premise and reason Demon’s Souls is such a good game really depends on this difficulty and sense of exploration and constant danger though, so knowing too much about the game honestly does hurt the experience much more than in most games.

so you dont need spells to kill the tower knight. he just whooped me hard. All i was using was my semitar tho.

just did 2-1, so damn easy compared to 1-1/2. even the boss was pretty easy once you got his pattern down. (though really, the only hard thing about 1 was the red eye knight.)

Something I’m not clear on. If you’re in soul form and die, I thought you permanently lost your acquired souls. I was able to go back and claim them even when I was in soul form.

You can reclaim your souls anytime you die, whether in body or soul form, but if you die in either form and then get killed again before reclaiming your souls, they will vanish forever and be replaced by whatever souls you had on your most recent death.

It took me forever to beat the first part of the game, but once I beat Phalanx and got my body back I was able to reach and kill the Tower Knight without dying, which was a pretty badass feeling. Now I just have to figure out what to do next.

I think that is random. First time through 1-1 I didn’t even see the dragons because I didn’t go that way. After I beat 1-1, I went back to explore it more and farm souls in the process. There were no dragons just souls, I thought something was going to come out because of the warning messages but nothing happened. I went back another game and both dragons were nesting there.

Game is great, a different kind of hard so far. I’m still learning what everything does and how to level up items.

Finally beat 1-2… Holy shit this game is brutal. Fking love it though.
Not for the RPG noobs ;D.

since i see that some of you beat tower knight. I saw a blood stain that said i need spells to kill him. But i dont even have any yet. Also i lost my body after phalax, because i accidentally fell from the top of the nexus, i was so pissed.

Since it might be useful to some people, I found a somewhat useful place for farming souls in the early game. Once you’ve defeated the tower knight, simply warp to that area, then immediately turn around and start heading back out toward where the dragon was making its strafing runs. You will quickly encounter two armored knights and a trio of crossbowmen, all of which are facing away from you. You can backstab/otherwise dispatch the first knight without the other enemies noticing, then spring another sneak attack on the second knight which should give you the opportunity to easily finish him and the crossbowmen with little effort for about 900 souls.

It’s probably not the most lucrative place ever but it’s quick and easy and close to the nexus portals, plus if you somehow die it’s not much of a trek to retrieve your souls. It’s pretty handy when you just need that little bit of extra souls to get the item/weapon/stat increase you want, and early on you can probably grind a few levels with it if you feel inclined to do so.

i still havent been able to get pass the tower knight. i made it to him twice tonight and each time i made it to him he killed me before i could eve reach the steps.

What class are you?
Try removing unecessary equipment and unequip unecessaries also.

How is the magician? The spells from trailers look weak.

I dunno about magician, but I hear magic is really good in the game. The spell a Royal starts out with is really good

Magic is extremely powerful in Demon’s Souls, but the Magician starting kit is only so-so because you don’t get the Fragrant Ring for free like the Royal does, so you have no MP regen - you have to rely on spice items, and in early game that can get expensive very fast. After you beat 4-1 it doesn’t matter anymore, but the first few levels will be a huge pain.

Interesting. I will probably start with the mage or priest. I love spells.

I heard Priest is the absolute worst of the starting classes.
