I was more of a DBS or Moonlight Sword man. I also liked Istarelle a lot, but I didn’t use my spear that often. Never liked Meat Cleaver, it felt way too short for the lethargic attacks when my DBS was hitting things from 18 miles away.

From Software and Bandai Namco Games are working together to develop “Project Dark (Working Title)” on the Playstation3 and Xbox360, planned for release in the year 2011.

In Japan the game will be published by From Software on the PS3, Bandai Namco Games will be publishing the game on the PS3 and Xbox360 outside of Japan.

“Project Dark (Working Title)” is a brand new dark fantasy RPG designed to completely embrace the concepts of tension in dungeon exploration, fear in encountering enemies, the joy of new discoveries, and a high sense of achievement in progressing. The game is set in a dark fantasy world filled with decadent atmosphere, with a heavy emphasis on player freedom in discovering various tactics and strategies to use in weapon based combat.

The game will also feature a brand new network system, allowing players to share play content with others. players will be able to share their common experiences from adventuring with other players without requiring direct communication.

Both companies are working together to share their individual strengths in pushing this title forward - From Software’s development expertise and Bandai Namco Games’ extensive overseas expansion.

Please look forward to a new dark fantasy RPG experience which pushes the sense of accomplishment in gameplay to the limit.

More details are planned to be released early in 2011.

hopefully they make online play better, that was the only down side of demon souls, trying to get people to join games, and trying to find games is a pain in the ass. And after you beat a boss they leave the game, they need to fix it were if you want to come back to life you should be able to pick if you want to or not.

seriously. It will add a lot of replayability to the game. Still, i’m geeked that they are doing this!!! I’m just hoping for a simulataneuous Japan/Europe/NAmerica release. I’d be upset if the pulled some Japanese we get this a whole year before you do crap…

I watched it 5x already plus emailed it to my homeboy that was down with the game too.
Only problem is, it is going to be multiplatform which could possibly be a tragedy if they have to compromise for the 360, or use the 360 as the lead and port it for PS3.

Anyway, I’m stoked to see some videos of gameplay even thought it was less than a minute, but we know it is real. I will import the Jap version if they make it like the last one with English and all.

Demons Souls is one of m all time greats as well and I’m 37, so I have been gaming for a long while.

Not really, since everything they displayed in Demon’s Souls was easily possible on X360 apart from maybe the number of things on screen. Hell, even on PS3 it lagged like crazy at some parts, notably the mines (Flamelurker stage). Seeing as that trailer looked a lot like DS, I think it should be fine for both consoles.

what i also liked about the first demon souls is they didnt do stupid dlc shit with it, oh this is in the game but it’s locked until you buy it etc. i will not be pleased if they fall for that shit the 2nd time around. it was like here is the game, full force in your face. they cared more for the art/craft of the game itself than milking money, which is probably one reason it turned out so well.

I’m not saying the 360 can’t handle it from the ground up, I’m saying these developers go with the least common denominators to cut corners and tend to fuck shit up. 360 is easier to program for, it has been documented so they tend to start there.

I have played plenty multiplats that ran like shit on PS3, I don’t want this to happen to a game I love.

Look at Bayonetta and Mafia 2.

Mafia 2, I was going to buy but they fucked it up, so fuck them.

Basically this. Sony dropped the ball big time on Demon’s Souls (which is why it doesn’t surprise me that From Software told them to go to hell when Sony tried to enforce exclusivity AFTER they realized it sold well).

How well has Demon’s Souls done in terms of sales? Even with all of the amazing reviews and awards it received last year (it’s still one of my top games that have come out this console generation), it just seems like the majority of PS3 owners have completely slept on this title.
